Sant Ambroeus - Madison Avenue
We translated these old-world sensibilities of Sant Ambroeus to modern times, and imported our rich culinary traditions to New York. Each of our restaurants remains authentic to our Milanese origins, and we continue to serve our culturally inspired delectables in a casual yet elegant environment.
the service at Madison is consistently excellent, and as good as any place we've ever dined. always unassuming and unpretentious. no one ever talks about "taking care of you tonight". they simply do it.
Embarrassing in front of my business clients when they insisted that there was no reservation but could accommodate us.. It made me look disorganized and unprofessional. Most upsetting.
What a great place. As close to being in Rome as you can get. From the front of the restaurant, which has small tables, a friendly bustle, a coffee bar with the BEST coffee in NYC, plus yummy desserts and gelato, to the white tablecloth seating in the back of the restaurant w helpful, professional service and delicious menu, it doesn’t get better than this.
Birthday at my fav spot
we sat in the back room. having made a reservation, they kindly let us stay for a pastry and a hot drink. very nice, felt like back in rome. not cheap
Quite noisy - exorbitant price for very mediocre omelet and frigid pecan pie. A disappointment
Best vitello tonnato anywhere. Marvelous wines. Excellent service. A thoroughly wonderful experience.
Terrific food and vibe,,, service is a bit scattered.
We went in for an early dinner and were not disappointed!
Their soups are amazing.
Their salads are not far behind. We both ordered pasta---quite good!
It will always remain one of my favorite neighborhood go-to places.
I particularly like their hours: open all day/night:)
Fantastic food with equally great service!
A joyous atmosphere. Perfect for our lunch. As a New Yorke native, I tend to be critical. However, our experience touched all the bases. We loved our experience there.
Love their Vitello tonnato
I love this place
What a lovely place. They made the best cappuccino I've had in years, and service was impeccable. Recommended.
expensive for a neighborhood place and tables are crammed too close
I love the look of this place, its very good for an early morning business meeting or interview. Coffee is delicious
Amazing service and attention to details.
A wonderful lunch with my teenage daughters while visiting NYC for the first time.
Very good. I would definitely return
Warm and friendly! Best home made Italian with a upgrade of truffles . Excellent wine selection.
Simply put it was impeccable. All of the staff is very attentive and accommodating. Beautiful room, but the star is the food. I felt like I was back in Bologna or Florence.
Amazing. Food and service excellent
The pretentious attitude at Sant Ambroeus was not entirely unexpected however, if the food were better you might be able to tolerate the man sitting at the next table who was literally on a phone call for 15 minutes or the fact that omelets cannot be made with any more than 3 ingredients as “ the eggs don’t cook as well”... umm ok?? This place is definitely not worth the money.
Our food was excellent!
Their salads are so good.
My pasta was also just so...
My friend had the veal Milanese, recommended.
Yes, the noise level rises, but it’s really quite friendly for this neighborhood favorite.
Great Service, food and atmosphere. Servers were attentive.
Nice little place
The service and food was great! I will be coming back!
One of my favorite dining experiences in Manhattan
Sant Ambroeus is far and away our favorite breakfast spot.
We had such a lovely time! A+++staff.
Very good as usual
The bartender for the life of him couldn’t make a proper Manhattan and the food was not worth the price tag. Best thing I wound up eating was the foccacia bread they brought out and gelato for dessert.
Great fun. True Italian flair and atmosphere. Highly recommend for a terrific weekend breakfast.
The food was absolutely amazing! I had the Carbonara, and it was hands down the best Carbonara I've ever had. It was extremely rich, however, and I probably should have either shared it, or ordered a salad to temper the fat. There was a lot of wait staff, who seemed to checking our needs were met, but didn't refill my husband's iced tea readily, and we finally had to request a bill. They were very professional and pleasant. Overall, a delightful experience, and a place I would absolutely recommend.
Wonderful neighborhood restaurant with great food and lively atmosphere. Highly recommend
Recommended by hotel concierge and our lunch was delicious, service excellent and knowledgeable. A well run and bustling restaurant.
We had a delightful evening. It is our new favorite place to dine. Attention to detail was noted as well as delectable food.
