This restaurant is small and quiet. The menu is diverse and the food is very good. I like that many of the dishes are available in a smaller serving for a lower price. It is so nice to dine in a restaurant that does not have loud music and you can talk to the people you are dining with.
We generally treasure our experience at Sansones and the service and attention were great. Maybe an off night but the food was off. She had the Wienerschnitzelthat was just OK and I had the Veal Picatta that was soaked in lemon. I should have sent it back but did not because we had limited time to spend at dinner.
The a atmosphere and service definitely does not match the outstanding food. We had reservations for 7 and were asked to sit at the bar because our table was not ready for another 20 min. It took a very long time for a waiter to come to our table. There was an extremely long wait time between courses. It was a set menu for Christmas Eve and there was no vegetarian choice for the entrée. We had to ask several times for our water to be refilled. The restaurant decor needs to be updated to match the price and quality of the food.
I really wanted to find a new go-to place but I will have to keep searching.
The man who greeted us and appeared to be the manager or owner, was not friendly so we did not feel welcome.
Some of the dishes were good, nothing super, but the charcuterie tray was nothing fancy and one of the meats may have been bad. The steak was very good. The seafood trio was just ok though.
Delicious neighborhood gem. The filet mignon whole grain mustard sauce was tender and delicious. Rack of lamb was also tasty. Both were slightly under done to our temperature preferences. The artichoke appetizer was also very good. First time for us, but we will be back!

For our fifth visit to Sansone's this year, we hosted friends who agreed with our assessment that this is one of the best restaurants in the Denver area. My choice was a flet special that featured one of the most tender and perfectly prepared filets to be found anywhere.
One of the quietest places I've eaten. The service and staff are lovely! The food is good. The bread needs to be better, but is passable. The large portions weren't terribly large. A nice evening spent getting caught up with a friend, however. And I will go back.
We had a lovely first dining experience on a busy Friday night at Sansone's! Lots of energy, but not overly loud, which is hard to find these days. The food was fabulous (must try artichoke appetizer, Rack of Lamb, and Weiner Schnitzel!) and the staff very nice -- the owner stopped by our table twice and was most engaging. We were seated in a nice booth for six people, which was so comfortable. We have passed this neighborhood eatery so many times, and are only sorry it took us so long to discover it! We'll be back often!
Sansone's has been a long time favorite but Friday was a bad night. Service was slow and not very attentive. Bar drinks were weak. My grilled romaine salad had about 4 small leaves. The mains and desserts were, as usual, well prepared and tasty. We'll definitely go back, but on a week night.
We have frequented Sansone's restaurant several times and have never been disappointed. The food and service is excellent. The restaurant is small so reservations are a must. The staff is attentive and always aims to please the customer. They have a standard menu with a wide selection and then several specials every evening. It appears that there are many repeat customers who have a relationship with the owners and wait staff. Nice neighborhood feel for this place, try it.
We got to the restaurant early in anticipation of a busy service evening. The place was not crowded nor was it full. Service was slow and not very professional. Items took a long time to get to the table-really? bread and butter is not that difficult and the kitchen is only 60 feet away and there weren't 10 other patrons. The food was tasty but a bit overpriced for what you get. The amount of shrimp in the scampi dish was disappointing, the grilled asparagus was tough and chewy, the filet had a great sauce but the meat itself did not have much beef flavor-just a bit on the char. Wine list is ok, way too much California for my tastes. Doubtful for a return visit. Like to generally give a place a few tries, but this didn't have enough of anything to make me want to return.
We always enjoy trying new places and this experience was no different. The food was very good, however service and timing of things was a different story. We actually got our appetizer before our drinks even came from the bar. Everything we tried was quite good, the filet especially! The atmosphere is fine, but would be better if they would even simply dim the lights a bit. I will go back another time knowing now what to expect.
Have been wanting to try Sansone's for quite awhile, based on it being local, small business, and the menu looked enticing. Staff was great. Small intimate setting, but LOUD as the evening progressed. We ordered the artichokes from the appetizer menu - delicious. Salads are a la carte, and VERY overpriced. We had the grilled romaine, there were 4 small leaves of romaine on the plate, presentation was gorgeous, but not worth the price.
Entree - Filet and bolognese : filet was delicious, the side of grilled cabbage and lettuce left a lot to be desired. Bolognese was scrumptious.
We tried it, and no desire to go back.
Great food, atmosphere and fair prices. We happened to get a waiter trainee that brought our salad and main courses almost at the same time. Also, forgot to bring requested wine refills till dinner was nearly finished. When the owner made rounds we mentioned these things and he simply excused them as trainees. Surprised they still charged us for salads which were only partially touched when the entrees arrived. I'd still go back and just remind them next time to bring the courses out after finishing the previous ones.
Sansone's Bistro is a great evening dining experience. We have been a couple of times and have good friends that like to join us there. It can be a bit noisy but Saturday night was hopping.
They were flexible about changing our time to a little bit later which was wonderful. All in all, a very good choice.
