3rd time at this location...always great food and great service.
Great as usual
Great time
Sansei’s is one of our favorite places to dine. ❤️
Slow service and no checking back. They do not serve ginger unless requested. However, didn’t know that until after food delivered and no getting servers attention .
Slow service but good food
There are a few places we come back to when in Waikalaoa and Sansei is one of them. If you come for their happy hour the sushi is quite reasonable and even regular prices are what you would expect in a resort environment.
I eat there all the time! I am one of those people who orders the same few dishes every time. This is my kind of restaurant. The food is consistent and always the same. Cannot ask for more. Actually I appreciate the restaurant using Open table since this venue is only open for dinner so one has to remember to call for a reservation when they are open. Now, we have opentable.
Been coming to this restaurant for many years but not again.. The service was very poor, food was ok but the overall value was poor.
Had a great dinner, great service.
Try the shrimp dynamite. Yummy. Go at 5PM for the discount.
Great food!
Greeter at the door barely acknowledged us. Food not as good as previous trips.
It was awesome!
It's been a while since I dined last time. I thought it was better before. We tried only sushi, and it was far too pricy. You'd better buy sushi bento box at Shiono in Island Gourmet Market at half price, same quality. Miso soup was a joke.
Beside this, they automatically charged 18% gratuity to us (maybe because I am a Japanese). They print gratuity amount sample on the receipt, which were 18%, 20% and 25%!! It seemed they pretended that they were generous to charge minimum gratuity of 18%.
Food is terrible ..
Always amazing food and service!
Just skip it, sushi tasted fishy and the Dynamite shrimp was gross, it was drenched in a mayonaise sauce which was way too mayonaise-y
This is a popular restaurant recommended on trip advisor and travel guides. We were very disappointed with the quality of the food (Mahi Mahi was overcooked, ahi sushi was meh) and the prices were very high for what was ordered.
must have been new waiter-didn't know house chard right off took long time to come to table took long time to take order food fair but overcharged and we live here so know prices are high usually
Excellent food and service. Would enjoy returning.
Noticed a lowering of food quality and consistency as we continue to visit Sansei over the years since it opened (we attended to the pre-opening celebration when Queens opened). We have, of course, our favorites and expect them to be close to the same quality, quantity and taste. That has not been our experience. On our last visit to Sansei (we live in Waikoloa Village), the AHI in the crusted AHI roll was old and off color and under sauced. The dynamite shrimp dish was very, very garlicky. The calamari salad was under dressed (needed more sauce). The other roll we ordered was excellent. On other visits, we had problems with tempura to the point where we refused the entree and avoided ordering it on our visits to the restaurant.
Overall, we still like the offerings and put with the inconsistencies due to what else is available in our area and the wait staff who will work with us when we have problems with any of the items we order. We often have meals were we enjoy all the items we order. Most issues when they occur are probably due to the staff availability/turnover/training issues that ALL restaurants have to deal with in this area.
Amazing service, food, & ambiance!!
One of the better offerings in the Queens Market place. A little speedy but significantly less than Roy’s and the food is very good
Great customer service..& food quality..wish you could offer panko or ahi in early bird special!
Food was delicious like usual! We love eating here because the food is always good and the staff is friendly.
Our waiter, Scott was very knowledgeable, he made great recommendations for drinks and foods to try.
We had terrific service, food arrived quickly, and tasted great! I highly recommend the butterfish!
Always the best mai tais and great food!
Excellent food and service. Best calamari we have ever had.
Service was excellent.
Chicken was undercooked, sent back and taken off the bill.
Tempura was tasty but greasy.
Prices are average for a tourist area. As far as Japanese food goes it was poor to mediocre.
Better to drive the extra half hour to Kona or Waimea .
Generally tasty but very little fish! The unagi role had microscopic pieces of eel. Good if you like expensive rice and seaweed
Food is great here. We went to the late night dining for karaoke and had a blast.
We’ve had good and excellent meals here before, but I think this place as lost some luster.
WE enjoyed the special dishes but found the tempura veggies undercooked and the pieces were too large.
Teriyaki Beef was excellent!!
Birthday dinner. Very good in all services. Very good from beginning to end of dinner.
We have been to sansei’s in Maui and had the greatest experience! So when we took the kids to the big island we were so excited to show them this great restaurant. But unfortunately it was the worst service I’ve ever seen. The waiter was rude, impatient, and very bothered. First off he didn’t offer us anything to drink. When my husband asked for a hand roll, the waiter acted as if a spicy hand roll was unheard of !?! The waiter never cleaned up the plates off the table.. the real kicker was at the end of the service I asked the waiter about the drinks that were included with my kids meals. I asked why he didn’t offer the beverages? His response was that he would never want anyone to push soda on his kids, so why do that to me !?!?!?!? Very odd waiter ! Very outdated location ! Go to the gourmet grocery in the same center .. food is better.
Great Sushi, Good people and great service! Ive been eating at Sansei since the 1990's when I first experencied there food in Honolulu. Never gets old and they cane found throughout the the Islands.
Great food !
The menu is very outdated. Several items like the duck spring rolls and the chef tasting menu for two are no longer available. The food was outstanding. Noise level was high but once a few large parties left it was quieter.
