Sansei Seafood Restaurant & Sushi Bar - WAIKIKI, Oahu Ratings and Reviews
Our server Roland or Ronald (sorry if I got the name wrong) but he was Awesome and gave us Great service since we were celebrating our 33rd Wedding Anniversary 👰🏻🤵🏻 And was deciding were to eat sushi 🍣 during the day and we chose Sansei which was a Great choice. Thank you for the open table app it was quick and easy 🤙
Service was very sloppy and sometimes non existent. Table was not cleared after appetizers although there was ample time before the main course came out.
Refills on drinks was hard to get, server was never available or just did not think about customer service.
The duck my wife ordered came out almost raw and had to be cooked more and my grilled catch of the day was cool and dry tasting. The salad it was served with overwhelmed the plate.
All in all I would not recommend this place nor ever return.
That’s really a shame because it was our 1st night in Hawaii and the place was highly recommended by you.
My husband and I came in for our first date night since having our 3rd child... food was delicious and affordable, but the best part was the service. I’m a server myself at Roy’s in north shore , and we were both pleasantly surprised by the service we received. We don’t get to go out very much but the next time we do we will definitively come back here!
I was VERY DISAPPOINTED, especially since Sansei was MY recommendation for our Girl's Night Out... We ordered sushi and sashimi. The sashimi was a high-quality cut but one of my girlfriends found a scale in her mouth after taking a bite!?!?! The sushi was just ok (especially in comparison to Doraku on Kapiolani!). Our waiter was inattentive, not very welcoming or warm. I waitressed my way through college and I can honestly say he sucked!!
Creative wholesome mainly-local food for both foodies and those who are less adventurous.
There is inside and outside seating. Outside seating is on 3rd floor over the street, which is entertaining with- of course - some street noise outside, but not disturbing to our date-nite conversation.
Most food can be ordered as small or large serving size, which made it easy to try many different items.
There are two kitchens so be aware that you will not have a choice regarding which foods are served first. For example, my entree was served and I finished it before my hot vegetable side dish (an add-on) was served. So be flexible and you will be happy.
The specialty drinks are amazing! Beautiful, unique and tasty.
Also neat: the sake menu has an explanation of how sake is graded, so was very easy to pick a pleasing sake. I did the Sake Sampling and was very impressed with the quality of the offering.
Very good all-around experience. Staff is very friendly. Fairly large menu with good sushi/sashimi selections. If you can get a seat on the terrace the view of the beach and ocean is beautiful. A friend recommended the Crab Ramen, so my wife ordered it. So this was basically Raman noodle soup with crab meat on top. The crab was wonderful, but Ramen noodle soup? Really?! Must be one of those dishes to accommodate people who don’t enjoy or appreciate the 75 (much) more compelling menu offerings. Other than this college-student dish I would definitely recommend Sansei.
My husband and I ate at sansei while on vacation in Honolulu. We are both big foodies and travelers so we have eaten Japanese food in Japan itself. While there is really no comparison to Japan as far as freshness of fish, the hamachi nigiri was some of the best we have had stateside. The rolls were flavorful and unique. We tend to like spicy things so it was nice that the sushi chef was willing to allow us to add jalepeno to a roll off the menu. The lobster crab ravioli in porcini cream sauce was TO DIE FOR! It had me licking the plate. We were also pleasantly surprised that the cost was not too extravagant considering sushi isn't usually inexpensive to begin with, not to mention the restaurant is right off the beach of Waikiki. We order 2 orders of hamachi, 2 appetizers, a specialty roll, and an 8 oz bottle of sake to share and our bill stayed below $100 before tip. We sat on the balcony at night and it was perfect! We highly recommend this restaurant!
Food wasn't what I was expecting at a "4.5 star" resort (which is closer to a 3 star that nickels and dimes you for everything). Paid $40 for two rolls and a miso soup. Service was about as good as an upscale McDonalds. For some reason one of the rolls was warmed in the oven and both rolls fell apart as if a little kid made fake sushi with play dough. Extremely disappointed. The setting was actually very nice, food and service was pretty regrettable. Don't waste your time here. If I could, I would have asked for my time and money back.
The food was great and our waitress was fantastic and very attentive to our needs. However, the hostess who sat us never said a word. She just dropped the menus at our table and left. As a customer the first impressions go long way so I feel it is extremely important you give your customers a great first impression. For without customers we have no business.
My husband and I went to Sansei to get their sushi and it was delicious. My husband doesn't usually get anything but California rolls, but he branched out a little and got the Yaki-Maki roll and it was great! I would definitely recommend this place to everyone!
