Sanraku Metreon is tucked into Yerba Buena Gardens, located inside the Metreon in SOMA, just a short walk from several of SF's best museums, the Moscone Center, Imax and other movies. We serve only the freshest fish, with a great selection of traditional sushi and cooked dishes in our very complete and imaginative menu. Diners' favorites include: sesame chicken, oyster shooters, whole grilled squid with our memorable sauce, salmon salad, tender and flavorful harami skewers, the lunchtime bento box. We are pleased to serve our Vegetarian Sushi to our non-fish eating diners.
Come treat yourself to the Sanraku Metreon dining experience in our newly remodeled space. Our chefs and friendly staff await you..

We went for my sister's birthday and had a great experience. Our sever was very nice and very patient with us! The selection of sushi was above what I expected (I expected standard and would say I got above average!). We also had our 6 year old son with us and it was super easy. They overheard it was my sister's birthday and without even asking they brought her ice cream with a candle and sang happy birthday! Thank you for a wonderful time.

I have dined here numerous times. Each time, the food is top quality, the service is great, and the prices are fair for good sushi. They paced the meal well - allowing us to talk without undue interruptions. Not a quiet place but good enough. I recommend reservations especially at night.

I ordered Sapporo on tap, gyōza, combination lunch of salmon teriyaki & shrimp/veg tempura. All was good and I took half home. Good place to go after the movies.

The chirashi was delicious. The selections of fish just melted in your mouth! The uni was creamy and sweet. The only bad thing was that our meal started off with lukewarm miso soup. When I told the waitress this she just said, “oh”. Otherwise I would have given a five star for the food.

Typically, Sanraku is a excellent experience, but this time the kitchen was off. Way off. The chicken/rice bowl was largely inedible and the sesame chicken was overcooked. Very odd, considering the usual excellent food. Inconsistency in the kitchen? Wonderful service, as always.

Located in the mall, near food court, convenient for pre-movie dinner.

I meet my mother here for lunch during the week. We love their food and it is very affordable. The service is great. Try to get there before noon because it becomes very busy. Because it's in the mall, it's very loud with all the hard surfaces. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Rolls were very good and definitely a place I’d visit again. We were visiting from out of town so didn’t realize it is located in a food court area which was ok but would’ve been a bit disappointed if our party was wanting more ambiance. Quality of food and service were top notch.

I was glad I made a reservation for lunch, because the restaurant was jammed! I made an error and requested table for two but the party was actually three, and though unexpected, they handled it well and seated three of us. The sushi was surprisingly good for two people who had lived extensively in Japan. The rice was excellent and the fish was very fresh. We appreciated the service and the food.

The meal will be most memorable as one of the most difficult restaurants we've ever visited. The staff need to work out a system for splitting checks and not lie to customers about their rules.

What a pleasant surprise. I was a bit worried about the mentions of "food court" restaurant in the other posted reviews. To clarify, you do enter through the food court, but this is a fully walled location, so it does not feel like a food court restaurant at all.

We found the service to be excellent. We were headed to the ballet at the YBC, and the timing/location were perfect. They restaurant uses a team based model, but unlike other places, the team seems to communicate well! Our main server was great. We asked to eat in waves of food, and she would show up just at the right times to see if there was anything else we needed. The other team members knew about our water and wine preferences, and ensured we were not faced with empty glasses. We never felt rushed, and made our ballet with no difficulty.

The food was amazing! We tried four things, which was too much food. We had the cod (delicious!!!), two sushi roles (as fresh as indicated in other reviews, and beautifully made), and the chicken (good, but would probably skip this next time).

And the prices are very reasonable for food and wine. Great place. Will absolutely go again.

The poor service really undercuts the very good cuisine. We were rushed: the male waiter
interrupted conversations to clear plates when others were still eating. The service truly needs
to be improved with regard for its diners. We had reservations, the place was not filled and we were in and out within one hour. I would recommend this restaurant only for its convenience to SFMOMA and Yerba Buena evening performances. Otherwise I would not.

The bus boy kept coming by to grab dishes before we were done. Felt rushed and even the waiter at one point tried clearing dishes but we were not finished. Then he brought the check before asking if we wanted anything else.

A quick lunch here between classes/meetings at the Moscone West Convention Center.
This was the second time in 2 days that I ate at this establishment.
The Curry Udon was rich and bold..... very good.
The Nigiri was fresh and the Shiitaki Roll had great taste.
Service was good and attentive. I finished in plenty of time for my next meeting.

One of the best dining options available at the Metreon.
The fish is fresh, the rolls are tasty.
I ordered the Tekka Don, a Maguro Nigiri. Hamachi Nigiri and a Shiitaki Roll. All were very good.
Service is attentive.
I recommend this restaurant if you are in the area... at the Moscone Convention Center or to see a movie playing at the Metreon.

Surprisingly good sushi for a mall sushi joint. They had a great selection of fishes, including multiple toros (tuna, hamachi, salmon). The tuna was really good, a beautiful fresh piece of fish with a dark red color. That one had a nice little drop of mustard ontop which rounded it out. Hot food was solid too - agedashi tofu was delicious, the sauce was really rich and erupting with umame flavor. The broiled cod was melt in your mouth and rich. I'd definitely come back.
