It was a decent place to stop for a quick bite. The restaurant is attached to a food court so it sort of isn't the best ambiance.
Dinner before Rogue One. Hamachi Kama is the best ever. Never Frozen. Best sushi in the city.
Great sushi. Wonderful friendly staff. Bought a movie ticket at Metreon and received free edamame appetizer!! Good fresh food. Helpful staff.
Two of us...food delivered about 12 minutes apart. Requested manager who took a long time to come out. He apologized awkwardly and didn't seem to really care.
Four of us met for a business lunch. We were seated right away because we had a reservation. The place was still busy at 1:45 pm so we had to wait for a server to give us water and take our order. The eatery started out noisy, but gradually became less so. The major fault was that the food orders did not all come out at the same time. Two of us got our orders, while the other two had to wait. Then a third order was served. As a courtesy, three of us waited for our friend to be served. Total wait time was perhaps 5 minutes. Orders should have been delivered to our table at the same time. The food was excellent.
Very yummy food and a great place for a two person lunch. Comfortable environment even though you're in the middle of a shopping center. Nice view of the grassy fields in Mission. Good value and fast service!
Chicken teriyaki didn't taste good and the meat was not juicy at all
Suprisingly, an authentic Japanese sushi restaurant in a mall with a fantastic selection and great-tasting sushi. The special sashimi menu is fantastic and great selection for the Omakase (chef's choice). Signed up for their frequent card as we'll be here often.
This is one of my favorite restaurants with the best Japanese dishes, both sushi and hot meals.
I'm glad this is nearby our apartment. It's fast and tastey.
Good service and great food! Thanks for a great evening!
We had 6 family members from three locations (Florida, East Bay, and South Bay) gather in the city for a Saturday trip to SFMOMA. Sanraku Metreon is just a short walk away through Yerba Buena Gardens. We were quite early for our lunch reservation, and were seated shortly after they opened at 11:00 AM. It was quiet, the food was quite good, and the price most reasonable. We have eaten here before when we've come to SFMOMA and will certainly do so again.
Perfect spot for a quick break from conventions. It is easy to get to and the food was excellent.
This is our go to sushi restaurant for 17 years!! That should speak for itself!
Still my go-to sushi restaurant. Sanraku's nasu ( eggplant) and the Sanraku tofu are delicious. It's been very good for a long time and I am glad Sanraku is in my work neighborhood.
I expect a higher entry bar for restaurants on Opentable. Their sushi selection was terrible and their sake prices overinflated, even for San Francisco.
We have had numerous meals at Sanraku Metreon.
The food is always excellent and the service is very good. it is a good value. It is a very good neighborhood place.
Highly recommend it
The food was very good for a small sushi restaurant attached to a large mall. However, the service was not satisfactory at all. Our server was stealing our plates even before our food was done. I had literally grab her plates to move the left over food to our plates. She was keep asking if we were done. We couldn't enjoy our dinner in a relaxed setting. However, the food was not bad and the cost is not too bad for a sushi restaurant in SF.
Quickly seated, great food, and excellent service, as always!
Sanraku is a rare Japanese restaurant with Japanese chef. The food is authentic and good. You don't find many Japanese restaurant that is really Japanese in San Francisco.
They don't have fresh crab. They raised the prices and got rid of happy hour menu. Everything is pre sliced. Disappointing.
We have been coming here for years! It is always great! Sushi is perfection, fresh and delicious. The agadashi tofu and gindara, are the best in the city!
Great service, food was hot when it arrived and very tasty.
Sanraku is the perfect place to grab a bite before a film or event at YBCA or the Metreon. Allow yourself one hour before the show and a pleasant meal and conversation can be had. Remember to make a reservation through OpenTable to guarantee seating with little to no waiting.
It was true Japanese dishes and using good material for cocking.
The quantity was rather big for us ordinary Japanese people but
Maybe American's are OK.
The location is not so perfect place but just for ordinary business dinner,
it is reasonable and good taste for business entertainment.
The sushi was good, but pricey.
Will come back again.
Located inside the Metreon, the sushi itself was reasonably priced for the great quality of fish that they had that day. I did the omakase lunch sushi menu and was not left disappointed!
Would definitely go back again.
go there for nigiri at the bar
It's located in the food court of a mall. We were very disappointed to find that out.
It wasn't the easiest to find as it's in the mall. After they were able to get the table set up and we got up to get our menus it was an enjoyable experience. The server was great and the food was outstanding.
A good Japanese restaurant for a mall setting. Service could be better but the fish is fresh and the menu diverse. Some items were a little pricy but others were excellent value. Items from the kitchen came out lightning quick!
Really good variety of different sushi rolls to choose from. They also had good selections for set dinners and I enjoyed the salmon that I ordered. Overall, good meal for a decent price. Would be back again soon.
Great food, quick service
The sushi was good, but the location was a bit odd. If the outside isn't open, it feels like you're almost eating in mall food court. Great place to get some casual sushi, but I probably wouldn't go there on a date or for a special occasion.
I work really close and often pick up my lunch & dinner from here. I've been coming here for 11 years now and with the exception of one cashier a few years ago, the staff has been consistent and awesome!
I miss the Wednesday sweet ebi fry lunch. It paired well with the egg salad sauce. It was soooo good! I even got my coworker hooked on it and this would be our lunch almost every Wednesday. Any chance of bringing it back?
I do have one small complaint which is the prices have been going up & up and the rolls have been getting much smaller.
Just a heads up that when there's a convention at Moscone Center, the attendees all flock here for lunch.
The current staff there now (Eric, Misa, Julie, Hai-Chau, David, etc.) are superstars!
While the menu isn't particularly adventurous, there are the staple Japanese dishes and the quality/authenticity is higher than your "typical" Japanese restaurant (which tend to be a pseudo-Japanese generic "asian"). Above all however, the service is super-fast and the food is definitely worth the price, which is very reasonable. I have been here a couple of times, and it's now my go-to place in the city for a quick and reliable Japanese meal. They were also more than happy to accommodate a large party (14) without any issues where many restaurants will force you down the "special event" route.
The food was wonderful. The sesame chicken was unlike anything else by that name. Large tender pieces of white meat in a crunchy crust with an excellent sauce. The sushi rolls were quite good, as was the tempura - everything very lightly done and crisp. It is the only restaurant at the Metrion with table service, so much more relaxing than the food court.
the sushi chefs here are top notch and it is rewarding to sit at their counter- this is an SF gem
A good meal overall, although nothing about the experience was outstanding or set Sanraku apart from other Japanese restaurants in the area. Can be a convenient location if you are coming out of a movie at the Metreon, but otherwise too much ambient noise and distractions for me.
We made our reservation through Open Table, and were pleased that we did not have to wait for a table. The waiter was a bit stressed that one guest was late arriving (he was trying to drive across the Bay Bridge), but was very patient. Food was excellent, slightly pricey.
