Sanraku Metreon Ratings and Reviews
What a pleasant surprise. I was a bit worried about the mentions of "food court" restaurant in the other posted reviews. To clarify, you do enter through the food court, but this is a fully walled location, so it does not feel like a food court restaurant at all.
We found the service to be excellent. We were headed to the ballet at the YBC, and the timing/location were perfect. They restaurant uses a team based model, but unlike other places, the team seems to communicate well! Our main server was great. We asked to eat in waves of food, and she would show up just at the right times to see if there was anything else we needed. The other team members knew about our water and wine preferences, and ensured we were not faced with empty glasses. We never felt rushed, and made our ballet with no difficulty.
The food was amazing! We tried four things, which was too much food. We had the cod (delicious!!!), two sushi roles (as fresh as indicated in other reviews, and beautifully made), and the chicken (good, but would probably skip this next time).
And the prices are very reasonable for food and wine. Great place. Will absolutely go again.
The poor service really undercuts the very good cuisine. We were rushed: the male waiter
interrupted conversations to clear plates when others were still eating. The service truly needs
to be improved with regard for its diners. We had reservations, the place was not filled and we were in and out within one hour. I would recommend this restaurant only for its convenience to SFMOMA and Yerba Buena evening performances. Otherwise I would not.
The bus boy kept coming by to grab dishes before we were done. Felt rushed and even the waiter at one point tried clearing dishes but we were not finished. Then he brought the check before asking if we wanted anything else.
A quick lunch here between classes/meetings at the Moscone West Convention Center.
This was the second time in 2 days that I ate at this establishment.
The Curry Udon was rich and bold..... very good.
The Nigiri was fresh and the Shiitaki Roll had great taste.
Service was good and attentive. I finished in plenty of time for my next meeting.
One of the best dining options available at the Metreon.
The fish is fresh, the rolls are tasty.
I ordered the Tekka Don, a Maguro Nigiri. Hamachi Nigiri and a Shiitaki Roll. All were very good.
Service is attentive.
I recommend this restaurant if you are in the area... at the Moscone Convention Center or to see a movie playing at the Metreon.
Surprisingly good sushi for a mall sushi joint. They had a great selection of fishes, including multiple toros (tuna, hamachi, salmon). The tuna was really good, a beautiful fresh piece of fish with a dark red color. That one had a nice little drop of mustard ontop which rounded it out. Hot food was solid too - agedashi tofu was delicious, the sauce was really rich and erupting with umame flavor. The broiled cod was melt in your mouth and rich. I'd definitely come back.
Went there with colleagues. Most, if not all sushi rolls were sauce-laden to the point where one couldn't really taste anything else and honestly couldn't tell if the fish used was even fresh (or maybe that was the point?). Staff members were inattentive/slow and a bit rude... except when it came time to pay, as they then wouldn't stop buzzing around our table once they had given us the check. Really wasn't expecting this restaurant to be located at the end of a shopping mall food court and I guess because of that, please keep your expectations LOW. Definitely not worth a 2nd visit for me.
Reminds me of a typical "everyday" sushi restaurant in Tokyo. Very good sushi with traditional Japanese style service. Good attention to detail with the food. Very fresh wakame with that nice crunch and the miso soup green opinion were cut fresh. No frills or over the top ambiance.
It is a casual, easygoing place. We had sushi, sashimi, gyoza, agedashi tofu and hot sake. All good and I'd rate the food 8/10 (nothing wrong, just not spectacular enough to merit a 10). The ambience is fine - for a food court restaurant it is quite inviting (again, 8/10). The service was ok (7/10), again nothing bad but we had to get the attention of the staff a couple of times to be able to order. Overall, nice. This was my second time meeting friends for dinner and I'd go there again.
Surprise find in DTSF! Sushi/sashimi quality was absolutely outstanding! It's kind of old and tucked away inside the Metreon but what they put out as far as raw seafood and sushi rice was top notch. One sign of good sushi, the rice was premium short grain and nigiri rice size was Japanese standard, not huge mouthful pieces. So if you don't want fancy prices with fancy settings but fresh, "oishi" sushi, Sanraku is there for you...
