Menu was predictable dessert was awful simply blueberry jam topped with granola passed off as a berry crumble so awful we sent it back.
Atmosphere was good loved the music. However, the pretzel app was burnt, the fries were utterly devoid of seasoning and the whole time I could not forget how expensive the food was. Overall, I like the setting and how friendly the staff was, but for the quality the food was over priced.
It was nice to be away from downtown Grand Haven, but we weren’t wow’ed by the food or the cocktails.
What an amazing meal. We felt so safe and secure going here with today’s Covid fears - they had perfect seating and available supplies.
The food was really great - kids were super happy also. I had a very tasty black and blue burger and a roasted chicken as big as a goose. Desert was phenomenal as were the margaritas from the bar.
Thanks Joe! We know you really liked waiting on us... :) We enjoyed your great service!
Food is still wonderful! I need to stop ordering my favorite whitefish so I can try others entrees my dining companions are enjoying!
The steak was cooked perfectly and the wedge salad was delicious! Menu options very broad and reasonably priced!
Birthday Girls Night Out
Food was overpriced, and tasted ok. Dessert was below average.made reservations but they didn’t have a table inside for us.
We go th Sandy Point all the time. My husband and I wanted to go for a wonderful meal / experience to unwind for my daughter’s wedding weekend.
Menu was limited. Many items were unavailable and very pricey.
It was a gift to enjoy a beautiful day, beautiful setting, charming and efficient service...and the usual high standard of the menu.
Unique place that is always a joy to go to.
We are especially pleased with the restaurant COVID protocol, yet keeping the best of what Sandy Point Beach restaurant is.
It was a nice evening, everything went smoothly.
Made reservations online and asked for outdoor seating in the comments section, but when we got there they told us it was going to be an hour wait because outdoor seating was first come first serve. Very disappointing. Caesar salad was warm and the fish tacos were really dry. Will not be going back.
Wished that there would be nice with umbrellas for outdoor seating... but ended up eating inside which was pretty freezing cold! Otherwise, everything was GREAT!
The ambiance is outstanding. It was a bit chilly, so we sat inside, social distancing, yet we really enjoyed our visit. The outdoor area looked perfect for enjoying a summer evening. The scallops special, the buddha bowl, and the asparagus were delicious. We even shared both desserts - the mixed blueberry crisp and the pineapple upside down cake. They were wonderful. The staff was friendly and attentive. A very enjoyable experience.
Sat outside, social distance, live music and service was great. It seemed to be a little expensive but not bad in this Covid environment. Overall a great experience.
We had a reservation for 7:00 pm, we waited about ten minutes or so to be seated. Once seated, it took 20 minutes for someone just to bring us water and then another 15 for drinks. By 7:55 we had to flag down a manager just to put our food order in. We then didn’t see our server again until 8:20 and she just ran over to tell us our food would be out shortly. So we went almost 45 minutes without our server checking in on us. The manager was great. He took our food order and served it to us. The food was excellent and the atmosphere was fun but we were a little taken back by the service.
Excellent food! Fantastic drinks as well. We had a wonderful experience. Our salads took a really really long time to come out followed by the entrees about 5 minutes later so that was very unfortunate for us, but I understand staff and chefs are still learning timing after So much time shut down. But I’d highly recommend it
Server was great. She was very busy and still did an amazing job. Food, drinks were very good.
We're big fan of Sandy Point, but we haven't been there since Covid19. We felt like the prices were high and there weren't very many moderately priced items. Our bill (3 adults and a child) was $135 and we had small plates (mac&cheese w/lobster and shrimp fritters) with wedge salads. We each had one cocktail. We'd hoped to eat outside, but couldn't due to weather, but the room where they sat us was very warm. We were quite close to another table so the whole experience was just sub-par for Sandy Point. We will likely go back, but not any time soon. Our service was good so no complaints there.
The food, service, ambiance was all top notch!! We would highly recommend going here for anything from a fancy date night with night significant other to a casual night out with friends.
We will be returning for sure!
The fritters were delicious, spicy , flavorful. The scallop dish was amazing . Berry crumble dessert could not get enough of . Server was spot on , food was slow , had to wait extra for a receipt adjustment for a bday dessert, seems like an xtra step, need to be able make with out a manager. Outside was very pleasant but the deck needs work . Understandable Covid might be taking a chunk out of p&l but it is high end dining gonna have to address. Thanks to the server for her input and communication made it all very worth while , we’ll be back.
Great outdoor dinning experience. We had a great summer visit with friends. great attention to safety practices.
I sent an email earlier. I made a reservation for a specific table and was told “no problem”.
When we arrived Saturday evening you gave that specific table to another party. Maybe a reserved sign on the table might be helpful! We have been there now three times in the last two weeks. So we are pretty good customers. I guess your attitude towards me left a bad taste in my mouth.
I have left good reviews before but Saturday evening was a big disappointment.
I’m not sure you even read these reviews!
The meal was very good. Nice that we could make reservations early in week. Will eat there again.
SO relaxing, beach vibe, casual. Perfect place for a summer night date!
Mary was an awesome server! Great attitude and a fine asset for the restaurant. We will ask for her again!
Very long wait for food delivery. We contacted server of our friends who were also dining at Sandy Point that evening, (2 tables down from ours) and gave him our credit card to purchase them a round of drinks. We tipped him of course, however he never bothered to inform the table of our gesture. Pretty lame service when there are so many ( or perhaps I am naive) capable and looking for work these days. Menu prices for drinks are considerably higher than area competitors. Could be a Gold mine but never seems to be able to launch due to poor management.
Very nice place and the outdoor area was beautiful. Loved the onion dip!
The Prime Burger, as always was outstanding- the best anywhere. The Buddha bowl was great too. The market fish, the halibut, was fishy tasting and I had to drown it in lemon to cover it up. I would have thought the fish of the day would be fresh. I have never had a bad experience with their regular-menu items.
WE ate there Monday evening. Previously we have had good meals but this time the meal was very ppor. 4 of the 7 people had the special- Pan seared Halibut. It was terrible, over cooked and not done well at all. Also the special kindicated rice pilaf and it was simply white rice. VERY disappointed for the price of the bill which was over $200.!! Probably won't return. We ate there all of the time over the last several years!!
One of our favorite places. Always delicious food and beautiful setting!
not busy yet server was visiting with other staff and took 20 minutes to get to our table..asked for drink refills.....server forgot and brought them after we got our meals
A hidden gem. If I were driving by I may not stop. But was recommended so we went and were pleasantly surprised. Portions were moderate. Rice pilaf was a little bland. But the halibut was delicious! Salmon was also very good. Cocktails were Also made Well. A piano player on outside patio and music in between breaks made it an enjoyable evening.
A little pricey on the entree’s but overall a very nice experience.
Food is good service is good. Outside ambience was fine. Our biggest complaint was the small and super chintzy wine pours. For $17.00 bucks, do better.
I ordered a wedge salad. It had two pieces of the core...yellow and hard. The rest of the lettuce was soft not crisp and fresh.
We were a party of four. Everyone else enjoyed there food.
I think with wooden floors there is always noise to contend with because nothing really absorbs the noise.
My first time dining out since covid and the staff was amazing. Everything was clean, respectful, and felt so good to be out to eat! The atmosphere is always fabulous at Sandy Point Beach House and it was a great evening. Thank you!!
Dinner was great. The food was so good. They have great choices from your basic burger to an awesome steak.
