The food was excellent and I loved the atmosphere. I would definitely recommend Sandy Point to a friend 😊
The seafood chowder wasn't very good and we really missed the beef stroganoff . (please put it back on the menu) But the service was outstanding as usual and the pot roast was delicious.
Our steak was over cooked, we brought it to our servers attention and she agreed. Manager then came and talked down to us, stating that it was cooked appropriately (it wasn’t) They then brought new steaks that were very undercooked. The filets were also very poor quality. Our server was very nice, the manager and food was not. Not the anniversary meal we were hoping for
We went out for our anniversary and Sandy Point was a great choice. Our service was great and the restaurant was SO cute. The menu seemed pricey for what it was, but overall it was a good experience and we'd recommend it.
The food was amazing! One of the best steaks we’ve ever had and the fish was delicious too. The service was great and the ambiance was fun and relaxed.
Menu was fantastic - great features like Halibut fresh flown in . I had the carrot bisque as well, amazing. Manager checked in with us and the ambiance was pure Michigan.
I have been to Sandy Point with people who have been there quite often. We were treated much different than we were on the trip when I was not with that person. There were two of us and we Had a reservation at 6:15. They were a few people there at that point and they sat us in a room with no one no windows nothing. I asked repeatedly if we could have a seat out in the other room overlooking the outside . We finally got in the bar in the corner so we can see out. Then when we left an hour and 45 minutes later still Many empty small tables in the room.
We could not hear in the bar.
The other complaint was the soup which I enjoy but. not rated as spicy. My friend couldn’t eat it. Had she known she would not of ordered it.
Just a great place to hang out and great food and drinks tto
Great breakfast spot: good food, extremely friendly and helpful staff who take their job seriously.
The place is bright and airy, and light. Highly recommended for breakfast/ brunch!
Staff amazing, fun and knowledgeable. We always seem to miss the live music but we will continue to try. We always take our out of town guests to here.
One of our favorite dining spots . Great food and service , never disappointed. Everyone having a great time with a nice old school feel
Unfortunately, it was just to noisey. Food was average. Servers were pleasant, but couldn’t hear people at our own table. I think it’s a matter of convenience for those locals dining there that makes it so busy.
Too noisy to enjoy. Food was just OK, not worth the price.
The last couple of times the food has been a disappointment. Halibut was dry, Buddha Bowl stingy and overcooked. Mussels were great. It is very convenient to entertain friends, but the noise level is loud which makes it difficult to listen. Our service has been great recently. I would recommend Sandy Point but would advise friends it's a fun place to go, but the food quality is inconsistent which makes the higher prices unreasonable.
Wow great service, great food and what a welcome change.
We appreciate how the chef changes up the menus. We had yet another outstanding version of scallops. Not only were they delicious, but the plate was visually stunning! A light sauce with a heavenly stuffed pepper surrounded by perfectly seared scallops.
Our waitress was excellent. The vibe was comfortable and inviting. This is our go-to restaurant. Bravo!
Very good menu great drinks, Awesome jazz group. Great place to sit outside and enjoy a cocktail and relax to the music.
We go as often as we can. Always consistently delicious!
Cute place, but loud and to try and have a conversation was impossible. Noise of patrons and live music playing. Moscow mules were excellent!
We loved it. Food was good and portions were more than we needed but ate every bite.
Our experience, overall, was very good. However, I was the only one to order the chocolate tort and waited an extremely long time. The waitress could have notified us of the kitchen backup sooner and would have gladly waited.
The food & service was amazing!!
Excellent meal. First time visitors and we were not sure what to expect. We absolutely thrilled with the level of service and quality of food. It is a hidden gem.
Made reservations for Saturday on Tuesday for 6. We requested a server we know and love, and told them it was our 46th wedding Anniversary. When we arrived our table was ready, but we’re told our requested servers tables were full?? Our waitress was not the best at explaining the menu items at all! Appetizer: crab cakes, and drinks were good. Our Halibut dinners were outstanding!
We did not even get a drink or desert on the house to celebrate our 46th Anniversary😏
Loved it so much we returned the next day for lunch. Food is superb! Pierogis, halibut, fish and chips, drinks all five star. Atmosphere is light and jovial, service excellent.
This is one of the few restaurants in our area that are appropriate as a "destination" restaurant. Good food, often good service, and just all around fun.
Great setting, but I felt like we weren’t welcome. I requested outdoor seating in my reservation and even though there were many open tables it was declined. Then our kids ordered the waffle and it was frozen boxed waffles made to look fancy. My meal was good, but missing something; most likely because I didn’t want to pay an additional 50% to add chicken. I hear the lunch menu is better, I’ll have to see.
Limited breakfast menu
Our group of 6 was seated at 6:45 among other similar groups and the sound level made it very difficult to converse. The most objectionable part of the experience was delay of dinner until about 8:20 - our order was "lost" in the kitchen. We had a good time regardless, and the food met expectations, but it was hard to understand the problem given that the restaurant was not full during our visit.
Everything about our lunch experience was very nice, except that the noise level was almost unbearable. We had 6 people at our table, and it was impossible to hear someone across the table, even if shouting.
The website noted a jazz band. This was not the case. The online reservations asked for any specific request. Gluten Free was noted, yet it took about 20 minutes to get an answer to 'is this particular dish Gluten Free?' We were in the three season porch room, and three different people left the other part of the restaurant to have personal phone call in that room. The food was positively lovely. The experience was lacking.
Our first experience at this excellent restaurant and it won't be our last. Excellent food, Superb Service, and a great atmosphere. Provided my wife with a special dessert for her birthday. Well done Sandy Pointe Beach House.
Ordered the fish and chips and they came out almost totally dried out. They had obviously sat under a heat lamp for way too long. Service was agonizingly slow as our server had tables inside and out. It took 10 minutes for us to even be greeted. Tables next to us sat dirty and un-bussed for 15 or 20 minutes. I ordered dessert and it took 15 minutes for them to tell me they were out, and then another 10 or 15 minutes to replace it with something else. But they comped it, so, yay, I guess. All told we were there They clearly need to get someone else to manage the front of house. Just awful. They place is pretty nice so I might be willing to go back with family or something, but I won't be in any hurry.
Really enjoyed the Reggea music with a pleasant patio experience. The food, drinks and service was outstanding.
Always excellent, some of the best dining in Ottawa co.
Food was very good, but our service experience was sorely lacking.
The two greeters seemed perplexed when I said we had a reservation. The second black mark on the service was with the food and menu knowledge. Our server did not seem familiar with the daily specials. We requested mussels gluten free, but they came out with big hunks of bread on top of the bowl.
After a few minutes, our server came back to apologize. She said she put in another order for us. I repeated to her that it would be OK to include the bread on the side. When the new mussels came out, there was no bread at all. My spouse would have liked to stop up some of the buttery sauce after I had taken my portion. I could have said something, but I was feeling guilty about looking like a complainer.
For a restaurant at this price point, I was really disappointed with the level of service. Servers should know the menu thoroughly, including any nightly specials. I didn't blame the server. She still received a generous tip. This is a training issue, which is management's responsibility.
Also, the menu should list all major ingredients. The mussels did not include bread or crostini in their description.
Was not impressed at all. Service was ok but it took nearly 45 minutes to get our food. Expectations for food was high and fell way short. My Ruben was dry and hard, and the rest of our food was around diner quality. This would have been ok if it wasn’t for the extremely pricey cost. Not worth the money, and certainly not worth the wait. Hopefully we just caught them on an off day.
Amazing scallops special this last Tuesday -delicious with risotto and some type of cranberry compote on top... beautifully seared, I imagine with browned butter. Ridiculously good -our entire table raved about them. Very nice staff, decent craft cocktails, and clean restaurant but the chef deserves the real kudos!
