Setting is lovely service was great but food was seriously mediocre as always and expensive...I’m a local and only go here with out of town guests cuz it’s on the water and they like the view
We were at the resort for a special occasion. I had a private dinner with my wife.
I called the day before with a special request. When we were seated, the hostess had no record of the request.
The restaurant was empty when were seated.
The next couple to enter the restaurant sat directly behind us. The tables were so close, I had to move my chair to allow for him to sit down.
We were the only two couples in the entire restaurant.
When food came, my wife's dinner had a bug in it.
It was a thoroughly disappointing event.
The manager did comp us the dinner - which was kind of him to do.
I requested outside seating and we were put inside upstairs. I asked after having just climbed the stairs, to see a hostess about our request only to be told by two different people I would have to go back downstairs and speak to the hostess. We sat at our inside table and ate our meal as everyone was hungry at this point. After being there for about 25 minutes, new guests arrived and asked to be seated outside. They were quickly accommodated. Then, a second group arrived and the same thing happened!
Needless to say the staff weren’t very helpful (our server was good) and it was just ok. Needless to say I won’t be using open table anymore or going to this restaurant for a special occasion.
We went for Easter brunch. It was a buffet and we helped ourselves. Didn’t even know we had a server, never introduced himself, never asked us if we needed a drink, was not present at all. We enjoyed our brunch and proceeded to pay ($350, might I add). My husband gave a cash tip to the guy we thought was our server since he had got us drinks, set our table and bussed our plates. Turned out my husband gave the tip to the buster not the server. Apparently we had a dedicated server who we never saw, and then when there was no tip on the card, he proceeded to throw a fit in front of the entire restaurant. As someone who has worked in serving and bar tending for over 7 years, I’m sorry the man that was our server didn’t deserve the tip. The busses who completely took care of us did. And then to make a screen, it was completely unprofessional! Disappointing after a great brunch.
Great atmosphere and great service coupled with a great view. We enjoyed ourselves and found the ambiance quite pleasant and unlike most American restaurants it was not loud. Three of our 4 meals were outstanding which were scallops, sea bass and stuffed chicken. However the lamb was not of the best taste. It was presented beautifully and cooked properly but did not come across as great meat.
My filet mignon was cooked to perfection and was very tender.
Very nice late celebration of Valentines Day and our anniversary. We made reservations and got a table as requested by the window. The staff was very attentive and the food was a good portion. Both of us were pleasantly full after dinner, but allowed ourselves to be tempted in to sharing a delicious dessert.
I used to enjoy this place for lunch on the patio (and inside by a window). This time, we met friends for "brunch". Our reservation was for 1:45. We got to the check-in desk at 1:42 and were 3rd in line. NO STAFF showed up to check anyone until just before 2:00. Yes, we stood there for 15 minutes unacknowledged, which is unacceptable. I ordered the "American" breakfast, with eggs poached and fruit instead of potatoes. One of my eggs was cooked hard and the other as runny and broken and water-logged. The toast on the plate was burnt and unbuttered; the "mixed" fruit cup was 10-12 grapes with 3/4 of a strawberry, one cantaloup cube and 1 pineapple chunk. One of my friends ordered the eggs benedict - they had put hot sauce on top before serving it to him...he had to scrape it off. His wife ordered an omelette "light on the cheese" - they served a dried out omelette with NO cheese and the filling was completely raw "farmer's market" vegetables. As this place is attached to Seascape "Resort", customers deserve and probably expect better. But if they WANT better for breakfast, I suggest they dine elsewhere; even Denny's serves a better breakfast! Kudos to the wait staff and the bartender who made a decent Ramos Gin Fizz (needed orange flower water, tho).
The view is always incredible. You can walk to the beach afterwards which is a bonus. Food is always good.
We had the appetizer special - crab cakes. It was a generous portion and tasted great. My husband had the fish special which was good. I had seared day boat scallops with lentils...the scallops were good but the lentils a bit too salty for my taste. The view is very scenic. Our waitress asked if we wanted dessert before we had even had our main course...otherwise service was good.
Enjoyed Valentines dinner here. Wonderful as usual! We both had the filet steak and both were cooked to perfection. We highly recommend this restaurant!
Our lunch was good but the female serving us was not friendly at all and didn't come to check on us. At dinner, our server was much better, but literally no ambiance in that room. It really needs to be updated. The hostess seemed overwhelmed and confused at both at lunch and dinner and acted annoyed when we said we would like to wait for a table outside.
For us, this is a local restaurant.
The ocean view, beach, and trees, especially at sundown provide a spectacular view, and even more spectacular during winter with clouds.
For a resort, the food is near par, not something for which you should extend your drive or go out of your way. The wine list is NOT what you would expect of a high-level resort. The service staff is always helpful and friendly.
Restuarant staff was very accomodating. Beautiful view from gorgeous outside patio. Food was great, view was amazing, would definitely go back.
A little pricey and not a big menu, but food was good.
I've been here many times this was the first time I ate lunch outside. I got a cheeseburger it was very hard and chewy and the bun was saturated in butter. The server only came to the table three times never came to.check on food or refill drinks and disappeared while we waiting for the check
This is not a great place for dinner unless the weather is nice and you can sit outside. Then, the view is spectacular. But, on a rainy night seated inside, you may as well be in a hotel cafeteria. No ambiance here at all, other than a beautiful fish tank at the entrance. Food was so-so and very pricey. Would come back for brunch, but not for dinner.
Neighbors having dinner , walk to restaurant for fine dining... walk home. Great place
Disappointed in the food. It was a set menu for Christmas, so I understand that challenge but wasn’t impressed with food for what we paid. I gave ambiance only 4 stars because our table wasn’t even set, just plain white cloth and again, it was Christmas. All that said, the service was excellent and everyone was very personable. I would recommend the restaurant to others, just maybe not for a Christmas/set menu
First time eating at the resturant for Christmas, we were seated outside the restaurant near the entrance to the left just underneath the stairway adjacent to the lobby so there was a bit more noise. Since there was 2 of us we were seated in high back bar style chairs at our table, not as comfortable as a regular table. I was surprised there were no candles of any kind or flower arrangements although there were two long empty tables with nothing on them. With the exception of the lovely trees in the lobby you would have never known it was a holiday. The food was good but overall I was disappointed with the whole experience. Didn't feel like a holiday dinner except for the inflated prices.
Our upstairs table had no ambience and was extremely noisy. The prime rib dinner was very good. The salmon dish was very mediocre at best. Our server was really efficient and pleasant.
Dinner with girlfriend was fabulous. While it was a little nosier than our last time here the food and the service was absolutely wonderful. I will be back again and would definitely recommend to friends.
Late lunch was very good. Can be noisy but we were seated away from large party. Brought our own wine and expected a charge for this, was 18.00, normal for us.
very knowledgable waitress
ciapino was too heavily salted but fish was delicious
I think that if Sanderlings continues to improve on their food and trains their staff that Sanderlings will come back to its former glory.
Truly excellent food (skirt steak and artichoke starter) and great wait service from start to finish.
We dined after sunset so it was dark outside. We dined inside and the lighting was oddly bright and the noise level was pretty loud.
Our school district retirement group meets here once a month. This past Friday it was sunny and warm on the patio. When inclement weather strikes we are happy to dine indoors. Always enjoy the Local's Lunch Specials in the off season. A couple of our members are happy to have breakfast, which is served until 2 p.m. Fresh, wholesome food.
The food was nothing exceptional. I ordered their fish special with tamarind sauce. It was flavorless and not worth the price. My husband had the cioppino which was spicy and watered down. My daughter had the award winning clam chowder which tasted sour. Other than the attentive bus boy and waiter, dinner was pretty much disappointing.
We went to Sanderlings for Thanksgiving dinner....knowing dinner out for any holiday is not quite home cooking! But we were pleasantly surprised with the food. The appetizers were good, and plenty of options for main course. It was buffet, so no real service!! the food was good, we were in an upstairs room that was probably used for meetings, so it was just OK! I would go back for a regular meal!
Thanksgiving dinner was as lavish this year as last with the usual turkey plus salmon, crab legs, shrimp, beef and ham. The salads and deserts were outstanding. The only issue that I had was with the turkey gravy which was thick and not as fresh tasting as you would expect from an upscale resort. Freshly made natural turkey gravy supplemented with the usual savory seasonings would have made the meal outstanding.
Loved the food on the buffet, we had a group of 6 and it went very well . Although it was Turkey day they ate prime rib, very tender. Sides were traditional with a modern twist. Smoked salmon required 2 helpings. Dessert were sliced small so you could try them all. One cookie was concave and filled with almond paste topped with shaved almonds to die for
Staff very attentive and took photos for us. Very nice. Worth every penny
Would recommend try the buffet.
I went to Sanderlings for my girlfriend's BD. There is a panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean from the restaurant so I would recommend coming early before sunset to enjoy the view. The service is extremely helpful and friendly. We had the Cioppino and it was excellent; it is big enough for two. Because we arrived early we waited at the bar has many stools and a good appetizer menu. They have created their own signature drinks and it would a good idea to inquire with the bartender. For dessert we had the creme brulee and it was a good as any I have had in good French restaurants. The manager came to greet us at the table. Very friendly service. I am coming back to this restaurant to try other plates.
The food was execellent, however, this restaurant needs a major remodel. The resort is situated in beautiful suroundings yet the restaurant has no ambiance. New paint and furnishings is all that is needed.
Love the atmosphere. And the food is terrific. I wanted to go for a work event, so we took the staff. Very accommodating and easy to spend quality time over good food and with great company. I recommend the Scampi and the Filet.
Fun 'get together' spot with good food and attentive service. Completely foggy when we arrived, so we sat inside, but the fog cleared and the view was stunning. Nice to walk around outside after lunch. Lots of folks eating outside, and I did see some folks having a meeting out there (I'd get distracted by the ocean). Would definitely return.
Waited over an hour for food ... gave up and went elsewhere
This is a favorite of ours, however the service was lacking today, especially considering it was not that busy. The waitress forgot to place our appetizer order, so it never arrived. And we ended up waiting a good 20 minutes after lunch for someone to bring us the check. Hopefully they can get their act together.
Great service! Had the best romantic get away at seascape & sanderlings was the cherry on top 🍒 beautiful view, peaceful atmosphere & amazing food!
The food is pretty good, it absolutely do not depend on their webpage. The prices had gone up $6 for the entrees we wanted. In the past we have gone for the Sunday brunch, proudly touted, which just wasn’t happening. Why? It’s seasonal. Why doesn’t the web page say so? “we get a LOT of complaints about that.” We went this week because it is convenient with pretty good food. We had looong waits for everything once we were seated. We weren’t in a hurry, it even so we got very antsy. Our waitress commented twice that she got sidetracked...
My daughter and I were meeting a friend there at 1pm on Saturday. My friend got there first and was told they would direct us to her when we arrived. I had made the reservation, but when checked in was told they didn't have a reservation for me, although they had found it for my friend. We sat down not knowing our friend was there and after 20 minutes we went outside and we saw her seated at a table. When I had gone online to make the reservation, it said there were no reservations available for 1:30, but there many empty tables. The servers were very accommodating and friendly. Two of the meals were average at best. One was good.
