Truly excellent food (skirt steak and artichoke starter) and great wait service from start to finish.

We dined after sunset so it was dark outside. We dined inside and the lighting was oddly bright and the noise level was pretty loud.

Our school district retirement group meets here once a month. This past Friday it was sunny and warm on the patio. When inclement weather strikes we are happy to dine indoors. Always enjoy the Local's Lunch Specials in the off season. A couple of our members are happy to have breakfast, which is served until 2 p.m. Fresh, wholesome food.

The food was nothing exceptional. I ordered their fish special with tamarind sauce. It was flavorless and not worth the price. My husband had the cioppino which was spicy and watered down. My daughter had the award winning clam chowder which tasted sour. Other than the attentive bus boy and waiter, dinner was pretty much disappointing.

We went to Sanderlings for Thanksgiving dinner....knowing dinner out for any holiday is not quite home cooking! But we were pleasantly surprised with the food. The appetizers were good, and plenty of options for main course. It was buffet, so no real service!! the food was good, we were in an upstairs room that was probably used for meetings, so it was just OK! I would go back for a regular meal!

Thanksgiving dinner was as lavish this year as last with the usual turkey plus salmon, crab legs, shrimp, beef and ham. The salads and deserts were outstanding. The only issue that I had was with the turkey gravy which was thick and not as fresh tasting as you would expect from an upscale resort. Freshly made natural turkey gravy supplemented with the usual savory seasonings would have made the meal outstanding.

Loved the food on the buffet, we had a group of 6 and it went very well . Although it was Turkey day they ate prime rib, very tender. Sides were traditional with a modern twist. Smoked salmon required 2 helpings. Dessert were sliced small so you could try them all. One cookie was concave and filled with almond paste topped with shaved almonds to die for
Staff very attentive and took photos for us. Very nice. Worth every penny
Would recommend try the buffet.

I went to Sanderlings for my girlfriend's BD. There is a panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean from the restaurant so I would recommend coming early before sunset to enjoy the view. The service is extremely helpful and friendly. We had the Cioppino and it was excellent; it is big enough for two. Because we arrived early we waited at the bar has many stools and a good appetizer menu. They have created their own signature drinks and it would a good idea to inquire with the bartender. For dessert we had the creme brulee and it was a good as any I have had in good French restaurants. The manager came to greet us at the table. Very friendly service. I am coming back to this restaurant to try other plates.

The food was execellent, however, this restaurant needs a major remodel. The resort is situated in beautiful suroundings yet the restaurant has no ambiance. New paint and furnishings is all that is needed.

Love the atmosphere. And the food is terrific. I wanted to go for a work event, so we took the staff. Very accommodating and easy to spend quality time over good food and with great company. I recommend the Scampi and the Filet.

Fun 'get together' spot with good food and attentive service. Completely foggy when we arrived, so we sat inside, but the fog cleared and the view was stunning. Nice to walk around outside after lunch. Lots of folks eating outside, and I did see some folks having a meeting out there (I'd get distracted by the ocean). Would definitely return.

This is a favorite of ours, however the service was lacking today, especially considering it was not that busy. The waitress forgot to place our appetizer order, so it never arrived. And we ended up waiting a good 20 minutes after lunch for someone to bring us the check. Hopefully they can get their act together.

The food is pretty good, it absolutely do not depend on their webpage. The prices had gone up $6 for the entrees we wanted. In the past we have gone for the Sunday brunch, proudly touted, which just wasn’t happening. Why? It’s seasonal. Why doesn’t the web page say so? “we get a LOT of complaints about that.” We went this week because it is convenient with pretty good food. We had looong waits for everything once we were seated. We weren’t in a hurry, it even so we got very antsy. Our waitress commented twice that she got sidetracked...

My daughter and I were meeting a friend there at 1pm on Saturday. My friend got there first and was told they would direct us to her when we arrived. I had made the reservation, but when checked in was told they didn't have a reservation for me, although they had found it for my friend. We sat down not knowing our friend was there and after 20 minutes we went outside and we saw her seated at a table. When I had gone online to make the reservation, it said there were no reservations available for 1:30, but there many empty tables. The servers were very accommodating and friendly. Two of the meals were average at best. One was good.

Major bee problem, not enough umbrellas for outside seating under the hot sun. Food was mediocre. Overcooked fish for 3 people twice. Recommend skirt steak, eggs benedict, grilled artichoke.

My favorite place for outdoor summer dining. Great food and drinks. The service has always been exceptional. The view is fantastic from any outdoor table. I love the dog and kid friendly environment. They really go out of their way to make everyone feel comfortable. The southwest salad with skirt steak is amazing!

I've been here many times. I LOVE their food and enjoy the music in the bar scene. I've never had a bad meal! A little pricey, but I'm from out of town and just go when I head to our beach house. I highly recommend. There aren't a lot of restaurants in the area, and this is worth the visit!

Nice breakfast with lovely view of Monterey bay in standard resort style restaurant. All was good but service was in need of training. Our server was charming but neglectful, disappearing for several minutes and not checking in after the meal was delivered or refreshing coffee.

We have been loyal to this resort from the beginning, but had not been to Sanderlings for awhile and decided to re-try on a whim.
It was obvious that they were understaffed with waiters, not allowing the wait staff to step up and assist.
It took forever to get a glass of wine from the bar.
The first course came in shifts, as did the second course.
So, my husband's soup was barely warm as we waited for my salad. The waiter brought another soup, but still, he had to eat it solo. Unbelievably, my crab cakes came out before a salad, which was the worse beet salad I have ever eaten. It was barely dressed and did not meet the description on their menu. The pumpkin granola was a few pumpkin seeds sprinkled on top.
Had we not been locals, and had both our sons not worked there, we would not have tipped as well as we did.
We will not return, as there are so many great restaurants that pride themselves on fantastic menus, gourmet food, and great service.

Didn't Feel Like Cooking. We live nearby, and are frequent diners. Although a holiday weekend, our reservation got us a window table with a view. My steak was cooked perfectly. My wife who wasn't particularly hungry ordered the warm beet tart and the incomparable clam chowder. Wines by the glass are reasonably priced as are the liquors.

I always know that buffet food will not be good food. This place took it to an entirely different level of not good food. There was not one item in the buffet that I could actually want to eat again...ever! The scrambled eggs were beyond cold and flavorless. The sausage looked boiled. The bacon was burnt and cold at the same time. The salads were overdressed with soggy greens. The chicken breast was dry to the negative degree. The tri tip was dry and had absolutely no flavor. The salmon was fishy, fishy, fishy. Believe me, this is coming from someone who hates to cook/doesn't know how to cook but I would apply here and improve the place. Ugh! What a waste of money.

My husband and I went a few years back and loved it. This time unfortunately the food had to be returned for being overcooked (my Halibut and his filet). When it came back his was slightly under-cooked (which was OK for a filet) but my Halibut was still overcooked. I returned it and we shared his filet. Really disappointing especially for the cost. Not sure I would go back to this restaurant for dinner, but maybe breakfast or lunch. the ambiance itself is stunning and the service was excellent. They just need a new chef that knows how to cook Halibut and a filet correctly.

I have tried several times to like this restaurant because of the location and beautiful view. Every time I leave, I'm left disappointed. The food is decent, but the service is always lacking. We took some friends for Sunday brunch and the service was soooooo slooooowww. We had to ask for coffee almost 15-20 minutes after being seated, go to the bar to order our drinks and left almost 2 hours after our reservation time because the service was that slow and incompetent. I've given this restaurant so many chances and I'm sad to say we won't be returning. We were planning to celebrate a graduation here for a large group, but have decided to make alternate plans.
