Beautiful setting, staff very accommodating and the portions were very good for the price. Scallops were tender and had a delicious sauce. Large Caesar salad with anchovies on request! The shrimp cocktail was very generous, would get that again to share...skirt steak tasty but not very tender. It's a go back for me.
The food was good and the service was excellent. The only complaint is that the wine mark up seemed exceptionally high.
My retirement group from the local school district are regulars here. The Locals' Lunch has increased in price, but is still a good deal at $9.99. Choice of Fish & Chips, Chinese Chicken Salad, or Bar-B-Que Ribs. All deeelish.
Great but service was awful. Didn't seem like they were overflowing. Not enough staff?
Enjoyed Saturday breakfast. Very good service, food and view of the bay.
Restaurant Manager Jeff Hanson introduced himself and we had a very
enjoyable conversation! Thank you to Jeff to adding to our enjoyment of
the beautiful morning! Tim & Laurel Jarnagan
Service was a better than typical local service. Food was very good but overpriced. Noisy birthday party should have been seated in private area/room. At night (=no view), dining room has no ambiance.
Celebrated New Years 2017. I'm a local & it's easier getting here.
My husband and I had a great, quiet dinner with a beautiful view!
Had lunch here 12/26/16. Food was great-fish & chips, grilled chicken sandwich, southwest salad. Service not that great, no bread brought, had to request water refills, bill given before we were done. Didn't ask if we wanted dessert, coffee or anything else...
Excellent buffet for Christmas in a picturesque setting. Staff was friendly and helpful. The service was exceptional.
We were a bit disappointed in the the quality if food. Then there was a big problem with gift certificates and we had to leave a cash tip when there was clearly money to be had for the server in the 4 certificates we left. Very frustrating !!!
One of the best Beautiful ocean views of sunset. Nicely landscaped property with great outdoors eating on warm days. Very good food and very good service. Highly recommend.
Staff dinner. Excellent service. Great ambiance!
I've been to Sanderlings Restaurant on a number of occasions and am never disappointed. Seafood is always fresh and creatively prepared. My guests for the evening said that the Cioppino dish is the best they've ever tasted - anywhere! And the wine list has something for everyone. Highly recommended.
We are all retired, and many worked in semiconductors. We enjoy each other's company, and Sanderling's offers a nice setting, good food and service where we can chat and reminisce.
We live in the area and decided to have a weekday night dinner here. The restaurant was almost empty. The atmosphere was pleasant in a bland sort of way. The service was excellent, as it should be with only one other table filled. We had decided to have one of the early bird specials which we had noted online. there was no information about an early bird special on the menu. We had to ask. 3 items were offered from the regular menu with about a $5 savings. We both decided to have the rib eye steak. My husband was pleased with his steak. I found my steak had a lot of grizzle and fat...I can buy much better rib eyes at COSTCO. The mashed potatoes were pleasant but bland and the veggies were fresh, cooked crisp but again, without imagination. All in all it was a bland, but adequate dinner.
Really nice place to visit for special gatherings.
We have been visiting since 2001 and plan to return.
Went to Sanderlings with my girlfriend for Thanksgiving buffet. Nice location in the Seascape Resort of Aptos. Pretty view overlooking Monterey Bay, good for sunset watching. Very nice staff. We had reservations for buffet at 6:15. Last seating for buffet was 7:15. We felt rushed. We are slow eater's as we like to take our time and enjoy the meal. Turkey seemed a little tough. But prime rib was good. Less selection of choices than past years. No cheese and cold cut plate. $50/person plus cocktails, coffee, what have you.
Absolutely wonderful, neighborhood gem. Appreciated being seated after a quick
cocktail in bar area, ambiance is very comfortable. My request for a window table
was met with a great view and a 4 top for two was appreciated.
Server was outstanding and very gracious in pouring a wine brought in for Thanksgiving.
Corkage fee of $18 was fair and reasonable.
We ate here because we had a gift card to use. The food was very good, particularly for a resort restaurant. It was very quiet, but it was a Wednesday evening. Our server was outstanding, not hovering, but attentive when we needed him. I would definitely come here again.
I have no opinion about most of the types of activities mentioned above because they don't apply to my life style. I do enjoy dining with my children at the resort, it is always a very pleasant experience.
Great service, knowledgeable staff. Beautiful resort.
Food good. Drink menu good.
This is my second time eating there, and I enjoyed the food ordered off the menu better than the buffet. There weren't enough people ordering it so it wasn't as fresh as it could be.
Everything was fine except for very slow table service due to what seemed to be a shortage of staff.
We loved the food and the service was good. The only issue was that there was a large party seated next to us....mostly children and a few loud women. While they were all discussing nice things, the women spoke so loudly, it was distracting g and honestly super annoying. We would've moved but wanted to sit inside.
We will return though...
Sanderlings is an absolute gem located along the Monterey coast in the city of Aptos.
Very pleasant setting sitting outside and great service!
Amazing views from the patio, as always. Food was good, as is usual. Server was super friendly, but the service was really, really slow - even slower than is normal here. We got the sense that they were really understaffed as the manager actually took our order and helped out a couple of times. It wasn't entirely our server's fault, but it was frustrating.
Food and service good, kitchen delays unacceptable.
Had short ribs. Very flavorful but too much bone ,gristle and fat.
I've dined at this restaurant several times before and it's been consistently good. Sadly our dining experience there last week left something to be desired. It was during "Restaurant Week" in Santa Cruz and we chose items from a set menu (one appetizer, one entree, one dessert) for one set price ($25). The food was just okay, which is not the case for the other times we've been there. Service has always been excellent and was again this time.
Went for restaurant week so got a good deal but go there regularly for happy hour. Am vegetarian so have not had alot of formal dining options in the past. However, there is now a really good tamale on the menu that I will go back for. Service was outstanding but gets noisy on Saturday nights. Go during the week for a quieter meal.
Highly recommended this place. We have gone several times good and service is always great.
Had lunch at Sanderlings. Beautiful day with a great view from our table. The service was mediocre. Entrees were served without anyone clearing dishes from the first course. Soup was good but fish was over cooked and Asian salad didn't really have anything Asian about it. Come for the view but don't expect a special meal.
My friends and I come to Sanderlings about once a month for lunch. The setting, view and service are great. We can depend on getting good food consistently. One. Person in our group uses a walker. Handicapped parking is near the door and aisles in the resort and restaurant are wide enough for her to get around without difficulty. The bathroom is also easy for her to maneuver in without assistance. We will continue to meet there.
Delicious food, ambiance beyond compare (we try to eat on the patio weather permitting ), and attentive service. One of our favorites.
Lovely setting overlooking the ocean. Good service and good food, I'll be back...
A nice [lace to have btunch Dear open table I don't wanto write 50 words
Dog friendly, million dollar views, short walk to a nice beach that is also dog friendly,,Great food,drinks,deserts..
The restaurant was crowded with over15 children whose parents had forgotten to teach the children how to behave in a restaurant. Our party of four rew
quested to br movrd to another part of the dining area. The rest of the evening was like being in an out of contro pizza parlor with celebrating little league teams. "Camp Sanderlings" was the most terrible dining experience in years! Other diners including the wait staff were all exasperated. Sanderlings has a great chef and terrific wait staff. While my neighbors and my wife and I have dined at Sanderlings many times, I doubt that we will return based on this terrible experience.
