   I booked an outdoor table at Sanderlings in Aptos, California, only to learn upon arrival that their “reservations” for patio seating are neither guaranteed nor managed—an unclear policy that left several parties, including mine, waiting and frustrated. Service was painfully slow. After being seated, I waited 45 minutes before my party’s order was taken and another 30 minutes just to receive a glass of wine and our meals. While the food itself was enjoyable and the ocean view is spectacular, the lack of communication and attentiveness overshadowed the experience. Sanderlings has all the makings of a top-tier seaside restaurant—stunning location, quality cuisine—but must urgently reassess its reservation procedures and staff responsiveness to deliver an experience worthy of its setting.

   Nice setting. Food was a solid ok. Service was slow, seems like the servers were confused and slammed. Waited for ever for everything.

   We celebrated our friend’s 90th birthday at Sanderlings. We were offered a special table with an ocean view. The ambiance was great and the staff were the best, especially our server! Our birthday girl received an amazing olive oil flourless chocolate cake from Sanderlings! It was a delicious dessert to top off an amazing meal!

   VERY overpriced brunch. Would have loved an omelet bar, juice included with brunch price, fresh seafood selection, better breads and pastries. Some items were good but not for that price.

   The food was good, limited choices and pricey. The problem wasn’t just high cost but it felt like you were sitting in a coffee shop paying $40 and up for a plate of fancy food. The atmosphere didn’t match the menu at all. It was a good meal but I honestly would go back. Either change the decor or change the menu. Service was friendly but slow.

   Unbeatable view and much improved menu and food from last visit. Really hopeful that our fabulous neighborhood restaurant is back on the top of the list!

   Friendly and working hard staff, perhaps missing some staff that day, outdoor seating over looks ocean and provided a space for a family gathering of 6 easily. Beautiful view, pleasant atmosphere, good food.
