We were seated outside at 4pm and received water after about ten minutes. No one came to take a drink order or check on us. After about twenty minutes the couple next to us went inside to see what the holdup was. They told the woman that they would be out soon. At 4:25 we left having not been approached by a server once.
The location is very nice, but unfortunately, Sunday is not the day to visit. Menu options were very restricted and service was slow. The food was of reasonably good quality, but I wish we'd had more choice.
I have always wanted to dine there and was pleasantly surprised. I will be back!
Beautiful view, delicious food, great service! A perfect place for sunset dining!
We love the food and service here. They have a nice wine list too. Come just before sunset and experience a stunning sunset over Monterey Bay.
We arrived early to have a drink in the bar while waiting for our table and informed the hostess. We were not greeted in a friendly manner, nor was our table ready for us at 7:15. The hostess staff seemed to be working in a restaurant for the first time. We were given a choice to seat next to a large, raucous group of 10 or upstairs in a room by ourselves. Neither was enticing. Trying to make the best of it, we sat near the loud group and ordered a drink which, after 15 minutes, had not arrived. The menu was sub standard with only a few dishes that were worthy of offering for dinner on NY Eve.
The manager was confrontational. None of the staff we encountered was experienced and gracious, willing to enable an enjoyable evening.
We have been enjoying Sanderlings for well over 20 years during the weeks and on special occasions. I imagine that the pandemic has made staffing a challenge so we hope that the situation improves.
New Years dinner
The food was not hot. Very limited menu with high prices.
My Mum was in town. We wanted to have a family getaway and a enjoy a nice hotel break. Restaurant was very cold, no ambience, food was very average. Kids food was cold. Service was good, but the overall setting at the bar area was not optimal and not on par with the overall hotel setting.
Food was mediocre at best
Server was nice but service was slow really slow. Steak was over priced and lacked flavor. Fish and chips were oily
Sanderlings use to be a high end, dining experience. You can't beat the view, if you are lucky enough to sit by a window. Now the setting is more like a bistro. The Shrimp Cocktail was yummy, turkey, potatoes and stuffing were good, vegetables overcooked and uneatable.
Service great. Food very mediocre and very overpriced
No wait. Taken to a table overlooking the Monterey Bay. Service was quick and very attentive. Food was delicious. Would definitely return for special occasions.
Great service. Quality food. Ambience is lovely. Wine by the glass falls far below the expectations of a high end venue. Prices are a bit high for what's delivered, which calls value into question. But all things considered, it's worth a visit.
Our group had a good time and we enjoyed the entire experience.
Went to see the Nut Cracker at Cabrillo College then booked this place for dinner for 6 people. Reservation was for 430 thinking we’d start with drinks and appetizers to catch the sunset around 5pm in the winter time. The restaurant was not open at 430 even though we had a reservation so we hung out in the bar we had two rounds of drinks and an appetizer. No one showed up at the restaurant by 5pm so, we walked across the street to Palapas to have dinner.
Great service & location. Outdoor seating has a beautiful view. Food was good but the bar menu for lunch is very limited on options. In my opinion the Bar menu does not match the quality of the fine establishment.
Great view of the ocean. Great services
The sunset view was magnificent and the food was excellent in presentation and flavor.
The views of the ocean were spectacular but the food was not good. My husband and one of our guests ordered the fish and chips. He asked for the chips to be extra crispy. They arrived soggy and undercooked. His fish had a very strange batter and it did not taste good. My fish tacos were just ok. We brought out of town guests here and they loved the view but we were all disappointed with our food.
While the Sanderlings venue has some of the most beautiful views of the bay - the continued downsizing of the menu is very very very disappointing. The staff was pleasant but not knowledgeable. The restraint needs to get back on it’s pre-Covid expectations of its staff and menus.
this is a very nice environment with one of the best outdoor settings in the area.
The service was attentive and timely. The food was mediocre at best with one guest
reporting that the fish was noticeable not “ fresh”. Bar menu lunch portions were adequate. Having read revues before making reservations, was aware of staff shortage and “ food quality” on different days and menus but decided to take the chance. this is posted as Covid is still in the picture and supplies and labor are a challenge for all.
Antonio and Lauren, as well as all the amazing staff there. Seascape did an amazing job. I proposed to my girlfriend over a beautiful sunset that bounced off the ocean. Thank you for making this possible.
Disappointed in the Thanksgiving dinner. We got chunks of turkey, not slices. Food was cold.
The service staff was friendly and cheerful especially for having to work on Thanksgiving. The ocean front view was spectacular. We have been there for Thanksgiving dinner and dearly miss the buffet. We like being able to have more of a variety of various cuts of meats as well as the dessert selections.
We went for Thanksgiving dinner. Very pricey. We had great appetizers, the salad was very good but could have used more dressing. The pumpkin soup was delicious. The butternut squash ravioli was delicious but definitely needed more sauce. The duck confit was not good. Over cooked large chunks of duck on a bed of lettuce..not duck confit.
We both ordered the prime rib. Good enough but had to ask for Anjou sauce, horseradish, etc. delicious pumpkin creme brûlée. Beautiful setting overlooking the ocean.
Great food selection. Great service. Great ocean views.
The sunset view is the reason to dine at Sanderlings. Gorgeous. Good staff, decent food which we enjoyed. Limited menu. Fish and chips, impossible burger, and mushroom ravioli were satisfying. Did not try drinks. Appetizers were ok, we did enjoy the artichoke fritters.
Excellent service and amazing setting!
Service lacked. Took 20 mins to get drinks after first seating. Try to get drinks @ bar, was told to wait for server.
Great place to dine when visiting Seascape Resort. The view was amazing, especially with the visit from the two deer, nibbling grass just outside the dining area. Great fish and chips. Overall a nice dining experience.
It was a beautiful, peaceful evening celebrating our engagement. Food was delicious and the service was excellent.
Third time for lunch. Twice on weekdays at 3:00. Third on Sunday at 2:00. Ordered off bar menu each time. Sunday's order (for one diner) of pork sliders is rated POOR. A scant portion of dry, shredded pork in both sliders, garnish of slice of green tomato and some slaw---both added nothing to improve the sliders in flavor or quality. However, generous portion of well-prepared French fries came on the side. Very disappointing after excellent food preparation on previous two meals. Other diner was satisfied with Impossible Burger and fries. Shared the green salad that was very good. Greens were very fresh, perfectly dressed. An increase of sliced fennel and shaved cheese to greens would greatly enhance salad. Hope this was a one-time, dissatisfying experience that will not repeat at our next dining reservation.
Terrible service. Don’t go for the food, don’t go for the drinks, don’t go for the drinks— only go if you want a nice view of the ocean.
Wonderful server—-but outside seating without functioning heat lamps (it’s November and chilly at night)— limited menu with very average food. For the price, the value is not there. I will not return.
First time in the area, this seemed the most attractive nearest quality restaurant on Open Table to me. It was actually the dining room of a resort hotel that was very basically decorated. Our experience was enhanced by sitting outdoors even though it was dark already. The service was good and friendly. However, the menu is basic. I believe it claims seafood specialty, which you would expect right on the bay front, but my shrimp cocktail was watery- “freshly defrosted” - and the fish of the fish & chips entree was very dry. The salad greens were fresh and tasty. I would not go back except maybe for lunch to enjoy the view.
It was birthday dinner. Photos led me to believe this place was fine dining. NO. The tables are weather beaten wood slat ones. Loud music and conversation, bright flood lights in the restaurant- no table cloths. Flatware wrapped in dinner napkins. Wait staff tried their best but the kitchen and bar were disappointing. Ordered a martini- tasted water!!! They offered to redo it - this time my martini had ice chips!!
The menu had just 4 entrees.
Very average for what they charge. It’s false advertising
Nobody cared about masking.
Would have give them negative stars if that was possible.
DO NOT go.
The experience was enjoyable and the service fantastic. I wish the food could have lived up to what was expected. Not bad, just kind of blah.
