Sanctuaria Ratings and Reviews
Sanctuaria was good, but it has a little identity crisis. Is it a tapas place, fine dining, or Mexican. I was told that the owners closed their other restaurants and combined the best of both menus, but I found that odd.
The service was decent, but they forgot a drink that I ordered during our meal.
But one really negative aspect was that we seemed to have fruit flies at our table - not an infestation, but just a few that were annoying. They need to get rid of that problem.
I’d give the place a C+ or at best a B- on this visit.
Overpriced food and drinks, drinks were ridiculously overpriced, they were small and overfilled with ice and then charge $20 for one drink. Service, if that is what you call it was poor. And it wasn't even busy, now we know why. Very dissatisfied, went in optimistic and came out regretful. Won't ever be going back and will not recommend.
It started out badly when the host and hostess wanted to sit us at a high top table when I reserved a low table on Open Table. It seemed to be a big problem to seat us at a low table, even though the dining room was empty with the exception of 2 diners. Management had to be asked if we could sit where we reserved a table! The hostess seemed unable to hAmdle the stress of her job. I took a photo of the empty dining room when we arrived if anyone is interested. One would think a couple who was about to spend $150 for tapas and reserved a table in afvance would be treated better than a college kid walking in off the street to get buzzed. Started the evening off on a.bad note. Note to management: when someone makes a reservation HONOR IT AND DONT ASK THEM TO SIT IN THE BAR. The food was excellent and worth the aggravation of dopey kids who don't value their customers.
They just started serving brunch. So the word is not out yet. My reservation was at 11:15am and we had the whole place to myself. Except for the uninvited fruit flies flying all over our food and in our face. FYI the eggs that come with the classic were scrambled with green/red peppers and onions. It was good! Just not mentioned on the menu. Maple Bourbon Pecan French toast was good. Pancakes had good flavor but the flatest and thin things I've ever seen.
Food is great the service is intermittent. With a tapas place i expected a quicker turnaround by the waitress and frequent check ins at our table. But she stopped by once every 10minutes or so.
Not a kid friendly place either. Our daughter spilled a drink and it took them over 10 minutes to realize the disaster, wipe the table, bring us fresh napkins and silverware.
Staff is cold. Would not go back, nor would recommend to friends with young ones.
Took us 10 minutes to be seated. 25 minutes for a waitress to even come to the table. 30 minutes for one drink. Appetites were lost by then and didn't even order food because of the amount of time. Will not come back.
The place was not that busy either. Very bad service all around. Hate writing bad reviews but this was just not a good experience at all.
Went for Mother's Day breakfast with reservations already made for 4 people at 9am. We all showed up at 8:55 and we're probably the fourth group there. The weather was nice so we asked if we could sit outside and we're snarkily told that somehow the manager had already laid out where all the guests would sit that morning and we just were not randomly selected for a spot outside. We said ok, so we took our seats in our assigned indoor section next to the restrooms despite being one of the first groups there. Sidenote: at the end of our meal, about an hour later, the place was still empty including the outside seating, which despise being quite large only had two groups out there. We found it odd since they didn't let us out there. The food wasn't very good... I ordered the eggs benedict and unfortunately the plate was very oily and the eggs were over cooked, to the point where the yolk within the eggs benedict were cooked. My wife ordered the biscuits and gravy and was unhappy with it as well unfortunately. Anyhow, this place is primarily a place for drinks and we probably shouldn't have gone there for Mother's Day breakfast.
For a shareable concept restaurant, there was very little on the menu that was actually shareable. Portions are small and not designed for sharing. At best, four could share. We had six in our party.
Food was fine, not great. Too pricey for what you got. Drinks cost twelve bucks. Waitresses are young and untrained.
No ambiance to speak of. Sticky floor from all the sweet drinks that get spilled.
When one of our drinks splashed on the table and floor, the waitress pulled a napkin from her apron and wiped the floor first and then wiped our table, with the same napkin she just used on the floor!
We were with close friends so we were comfortable with passing our food but I would not feel comfortable if I were with casual acquaintances. Plates do not come with utensils so everyone uses their own eating fork to pick up food from the plates. Um, yeah.
The service was excellent; our waitress very attentive and seemed to antipate our needs. I asked if they had a drink that was not on the menu and the waitress was happy to check and the bartender made it special for me and it was excellent. We sat outside which is very lovely and a good place to people watch.
