Food and drinks were great. A little pricey. But overall, a great experience.
Wonderful food and drinks.
The service was fine, just disappointed with the small amount of food and not that great.
Overall it was a good experience. The place is decorated in a very edgy/funky Latino way. The food is good overall but some of the small plates we ordered were missing salt (under seasoned ) or slightly over cooked (guacamole and the bacon dates). Nothing to the point of having to return it. But definitely noticeable. The drinks were well constructed but felt over iced (they use shaved ice) and that leads to too much dilution to my taste.
I’m asking myself why I waited SO LONG to dine at Sanctuaria!!! The food was everything and the service: exceptional!! Rhonda was our server and we couldn’t have asked for better service and the GM, Jennifer, checked in on is and gave some interesting information about the owners and decor of the restaurant. It was date night and we are so glad we choose Sanctuaria!
The food was delicious! The restaurant has a very nice vibe. A little chilly, but overall great!
Good has gone down hill. Server was not present.
Food was excellent. Service was mediocre at best. Prices seemed appropriate.
We fell in love with this place. The food is next level!
We went to celebrate a birthday. It was a fun night. The waitress was nice and although pretty expensive the food was good. We had to wait a while but we were having cocktails and talking so it really didn’t matter. Love all the eclectic decor too!
Love it! Our server was fantastic, food was excellent and love the environment!
We’ve been to Sanctuaria half a dozen times before and it’s always been good. Not tonight.
Took a half hour to get an order of guacamole. Took 10 minutes to get a glass of water and when the server finally brought it she slammed it on the table. Ordered a glass of wine. Nope. Ordered some food. They bring a dish; nope, not what we ordered. They bring another dish; nope, not what we ordered. They bring a third dish; nope, not what we ordered.
Tough night. They need to get their act together before we return.
Everything was fabulous. Service was impeccable, she was super patient as there is a lot to review on the menu. The food was perfectly timed out and each dish was delicious.
These guys are amazing! Their food is second to none and I swear those bacon wrapped dates have to have some addictive thing in them because they are SOO GOOOD! The Shrimp Fajitas were amazing too! I know they have great drinks but their coffee was actually impressive. I'm kind of a coffee snob and it impressed me! Overall, I'd definitely say pick this place, you wont be disappointed!
If you go, the food is amazing and the drinks are stellar but do try to sit in Sheena's area. She made the night for us with her suggestions and clear pride in her team at Sanctuaria. It was a pleasure to talk to her and learn more about the restaurant. Also, when she found out our largish group had a play to go to, she wanted to know the time so she could make sure we'd be on our way in time for our next destination. We will be back!
My wife and I went there for our Valentine's night out. I have been there several times before for Happy Hour. The food was delightful and a great environment. Because of the particular night, our server got pulled away from our table because of a large table that was being "special" with all of their orders. Usually my experience with service there is great, but this was the exception. I know that they are now under new ownership and one of the reasons why i continue to go back there is their large Bourbon selection and being a top bourbon bar, so I hope under the new ownership this does not change. I would highly recommend Sanctuaria.
It was Valentine’s Day so it was pretty crazy. That aside, service / people were great, but you could tell everything was very unorganized and food took forever for being tapas (I was told new mgmt took over 4 months ago). Also, I’m not sure how you can be named a “Best Bourbon Bar” by Buffalo Trace and not have their flagship product there to drink. Their drinks were cool, but overall, it was a pretty sub par experience.
I apologize for your experience being less than satisfactory. I do hope you try again in the future, as we most definitely carry Buffalo Trace as well almost all Sazerac products. Thank you for taking your time to leave your opinion.
My only complaint would be that the shrimp my husband ordered came out super late, but it was also Valentine’s Day and it was really really busy. Our server was really nice and we still had a good experience! Food is great!
Thank you so much for your review and for choosing Sanctuaria for Valentine's Day.
The food was okay but extremely overpriced. Small plates to share but when they are $16 each it’s kinda hard to get more than 2 and a bottle of wine without spending over $100 for 2.
I have been to Sanctuaria many times but none since the new ownership. The portions are smaller and the prices are higher. I was extremely disappointed in the menu and the choices. I do understand that a tapas restaurant provides smaller portions and have been to numerous tapas restaurants over the years but Sanctuaria has taken that to an extreme. I just felt like the entire meal was a money grab and after a $150.00 bill at the end of the meal, that feeling was confirmed. Leaving negative feedback is very rare for me...I always try to find something positive in a place but I left leaving extremely disappointed.
It took forever to get drinks. We would have had much more to drink if it would not have taken so long.
Great, food was delicious and a great value.
The food, ambiance, drinks and service were all on point. I’ve been there multiple times and will keep patronizing this establishment.
This is a fun place to go to eat and drink. We have come in from the County twice in the last month because the food is so good and the drinks are great too. The menu has way too many great choices- multiple visits are required.
The fajitas, beggar purses, guac/chips, devil bites- all fantastic. We have tried signature drinks- funky but good and well as the standard martinis - the bartenders know how to pour.
The atmosphere is very "up", people tend to chat with each other. It's got a great positive atmosphere.
Small plates are great for sharing with friends!! All drinks made with love, and they are delicious!! I went with 5 other women and sat at a round table, which is perfect for conversation!
Food was unique and very good, we also enjoyed the specialty cocktails. Would highly recommend Sanctuaria
Bartender, Justine, that waited on us was awesome! Food was really good but a little salty overall. We really enjoyed sitting at the high top table and almost had the place to ourselves as we were eating early prior to going to SLSO.
Great place, just got back from Spain and was glad to find a Spanish restaurant with some creative Spanish food, unique and fun place.
Food was really good!
Was very interested in the tequila choices. The bartender was nice and helped me make a selection. Then, I noticed her pouring our drinks and not pouring what we ordered. When she came by she did not say anything. Then when she came back to take our order I asked her why she poured something we didn't order. She went on about how it is a better value than what we paid for. Regardless she sold us something she didn't have and was sneaky about it. Not cool and kinda rubbed me the wrong way. As far as the food and place, it was nice.
Excellent place for great small plate food options and drinks.
The food was delicious and our server was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly!
Wonderful setting both inside and outside. Almost didn't go because of comments about service but so glad we did. Service was very prompt, polite and helpful. Food was very good, especially the wicked shrimp (quite spicy), the rellenos and the fried steak with potatoes. Cocktails tended to be too sweet for my taste.
The food is very good and a great variety. I felt very rushed to order....
Amazing food! We shared lots of small plates for the variety and had plenty to eat. Try the cigars with blue cheese fondue and the grilled shrimp. Guacamole and chips great. Only negative was the noise level. Until people left it was hard to carry on a conversation. I’m going back!
Good inside, great outside! Small plates ensures everyone is happy regardless if it is a party of 2 or 12
My wife and I had a great time here. The staff were friendly and professional, the food was fantastic, the drinks were great and the decor is a lot of fun. Not sure what more you could ask for of a restaurant.
Amazing people working there, very friendly and service was amazing. The food was delicious and the cocktails were refreshing. Will definitely go back, and I wish I had stopped in years ago.
Our first visit and didn’t know what to expect. The food was amazing. The beggars purse and lime poached shrimp— sumptuous! Our service was friendly , informative and attentive. We will definitely be back and will bring friends. A great new find!
The food was beyond what we expected. The atmosphere and service are top notch. We will definitely return.
