I had been before Xmas with 4 adults and had a lovely meal so booked a table as we were attending the theatre with my children and some friends. The table was reserved for 5pm we arrived at 5pm on the dot to be looked at in surprise and when the manger took my name he advised ‘I had you down as I no show’ I looked at my watch and said it is 5pm? The table was not set up for the party of 7 meaning a further place had to be crammed onto the already small table. I added comments to the reservation stating that there would be 3 children. I have to say that they service was absolutely awful! It was were clear that from the moment we walked in that they did not want children in the restaurant. My children were impeccably behavioured making no noise and were made to feel very uncomfortable. The place was only half full, they rushed the service as quickly as possible and could not wait to get us out of there. Food was nice except don’t adult the meat ball main, you get 2 small meatballs. When we questioned the waiter didn’t understand and said ‘you want more’ to then 10 minutes later bring over one more small meatball, seriously not worth it, we thought it was a joke! Nice place and good food just never take children! If you don’t want children then state adults only!

I asked the waiter to check if the apple strudel had nuts in it as I have a nut allergy. He said there wasn’t and served it up. After having a bite of mine, my partner noticed there were walnuts in hers. The waiter did not apologise and tried to say I didn’t ask him. If I had eaten it I’d have been hospitalised. Someone with a severe nut allergy could have been killed - which would have serious implications for the owners. It’s a great restaurant but the service lets it down and I won’t be going again, especially because there a lots of restaurants who bend over backwards to make sure their customers have the right experience.

Attended for new year's eve. The food standard is usually brilliant but was massively let down by poor taste and serving cold. The staff as ever were keen to get us out.

First time here for a few months - very different from previous experiences - seems they are aiming for a different market. Menu was narrower tho the food was great 👍. Seem to cram a lot more people I. Staff were lovely but didn’t listen to the order so that made service poor and we had to challenge the bill as some things hadn’t been served at all. Not sure what has changed but this used to be good and service plus but now like any other Italian chain but more expensive - not sure I would go out of my way to go again. Such a shame as it once was special

The best Italian restaurant in Leicester! Extremely friendly service and we didn’t have too long to wait for our main course (we did not have starters). Main course and desserts were just great. We were there this time for dinner. Next time we come to Leicester, San Carlo will be the place we dine at.

I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Had a few issues whilst at the restaurant, - The water jug was cracked and quite frankly dangerous with potential for glass to get into the water ! - I asked for a bottle of peroni which arrived ready poured in a glass. When I asked why it’s not in a bottle I was told it was poured for me. How do I know it wasn’t poured from draft ? - the glasses on the table were cracked - the ambience in the restaurant made it feel more like a cheap place as apposed to a premium restaurant
