Always such a great experience dining here, extremely fresh!
Great service and easy location right in the Banff Springs Hotel.
Portions are small but food is great quality and sushi flown in fresh daily.
This is my favourite Sushi restaurant in Alberta. The fish is always fresh and there is an interesting story of the origin and of their fish from the 70's
I would highly recommend eating here. It is expensive but considering you are eating at the Springs, it is well worth the cost.
We were hoping for a nice dinner given the location. We sat in the dining area, not at the bar. It felt more like a cafeteria. Noisy, very little ambiance, unclean walls. The food was alright, but we certainly have had better. For the price point, we would not dine here again.
We have been before. it is a Sushi restaurant ran by, imagine, Japanese chef's! hehe it is just so rare to find a restaurant that understands the very special care and attention that is given to all food prepared, cooked or, most important, uncooked. The chefs at Samurai proved masterful. My wife and i especially enjoy sitting up at the bar, where we can watch the food being prepared and can interact with the Chefs!
Excellent food - the sashimi was outstanding and the sushi also of the highest quality - an excellent Japanese restaurant.
We went to Samurai for our wedding night meal, and it was incredible! The staff treated us like royalty, and the food was fit for a king and queen!
Had a great experience! Our server, Dennis was fantastic, really went above and beyond to make it a lovely night. The food was amazing- authentic, fresh Japanese food.
Excellent, amazing sushi and incredibly knowledgable service.
Having migrated to AB from BC, I've yet to find a comparable sushi restaurant. Samauri's ingredients are fresh and top quality, but it's just another sushi place... way way too expensive for what product is being offered....
Service was great but, it's over-rated simply by being in the Banff Springs Fairmont...
Excellent sushi small sushi restaurant in a beautiful location. Great staff and great food
What a great place to experience an authentic Sushi restaurant for the first time. James was our server and was amazing as he helped us pick dishes and was so patient with us. I'd go back in a heartbeat!!!!
This was probably the worst Sushi / Japanese restaurant we have ever eaten at. Maybe it is because we are used to eating Sushi / Japanese food in Los Angeles. The fish was not fresh which was also evident in the shrimp used for the tempura.
I took a chance booking this place as a surprise for my husband. It paid off!!! Our waiter James was the friendliest waiter we have ever had. Not only was he knowlegeable about the food and wine, he also gave us great tips for local travels. We would definitely recommend this sushi restaurant and we will be back whenever we are back in the area.
We had a wonderful dinner. The sashimi was fresh and tasty. We had one of the finest California rolls ever as they used fresh crab , not imitation. Really delicious.
Excellent food and wonderful service (waiter has great sense of humor)
We have eaten at samurai a number of times and it never disappoints. The sushi is always top notch which is very difficult to find In Alberta most of the time
The food is absolutely outstanding and the service is exemplary which you would expect at the Fairmont
Great restaurant amazing sushi chefs and great food that is reasonably priced and quick to come out. Awesome to sit and watch the process at the bar.
The service manager was the only thing that let it down he was very self important.
Had high expectations given the great reviews. The restaurant is pretty and the service was good. However the sushi did not seem fresh. Both my husband and I ordered sushi, the chef's choice, and were very disappointed. Did not finish the sushi. My daughter had the tempura udon. She liked it, but the broth was lacking flavor (as was the miso soup). I'm willing to pay for good sushi, but this was overpriced for the quality of sushi that was received. Would not go back or recommend.
The food was average here. The service could have been better. We had late reservations and then we were being rushed by the server to order our meal quickly.
A bit pricey with just fine food & service. Not unremarkable over other options in area
Fantastic food, aervice was amazing; waiter was extremely knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions and provide the background of many different sushi types. Place is very small and probably in need of a reno but definitely not to be missed!
Outstanding sushi and the Alberta beef sukiyaki (spelling?) was outstanding. Frank our server - was attentive and gave excellent service.
Dinner was fantastic - did the equivalent of the chef's table where the chef prepared for us whatever he wanted. It was wonderful. The ONLY negative comment I would give is it is way to bright in the restaurant (gave no atmosphere whatsoever) and seems very casual given the pricing. The front looks like it needs to be renovated. Staff was very nice and helpful.
The salmon sashimi was fresh and almost creamy. Also notable was the spicy tuna roll. Great ingredients used in the preparation, apparently flown in from Vancouver
Delicious as always! A few vegan options for rolls that are very tasty (NOT the tempura (egg) and NOT the miso soup unfortunately).
Good food and service. Cuts are on the small side.
..Food was great, you can taste the freshness..excellent service..friendly atmosphere..price was a little more than usual but worth every penny..would definitely recommend this restaurant..
Very good Sushi, cozy and quiet.
Anyone who knows sushi knows the most important thing is the rice. These gouts don't get it
