Samurai Sushi Bar & Restaurant - Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel
Smart Casual (no hats, sports wear or torn jeans)
Tempura and Gyoza were amazing. Chop chop, kappa and avocado maki were terrible. My husband and I were unable to swallow them. Waitress took them off the bill which was appreciated but would not order rolls again. Extremely fishy and almost a sticky texture. The waitress said that it is a very expensive type of nori that tastes a bit fishy and that the chef said he tasted it and it tastes like it should....
I had the udon which was so plain and lacking flavor. My husband had the sushi and the quality of fish was good. We eat sushi all the time- as there are limited options Banff there is not much to choose from. If you are really cravining sushi then it’s okay. But expensive for what you are getting too.
Always the best sushi in the bow valley
The manager had his child there and they were noisy and loud
Was not the ambience we expected
Excellent quality food. Nice presentation.
Ross was out standing!!!!
Très bon service mais dispendieux pour des petits sushis pour un reps léger
Mari was great. Music was funny. I assume it’s a Fairmont thing. Food is great!
Would only recommend if they wanted sushi. No soft shell crab or fresh wTer eel
Loved the food and the service. Tasty food that was presented very well.
Very good but some of the patrons were entirely too loud and Mgmt did not control
The same as your local sushi place. Some good dishes but nothing spectacular. Gyoza dish was good and so was the beef tataki. Room is like a dungeon and decor and is really and super cheap and out dated. Don't expect to be impressed by the space. 100$ for two people to eat a light a meal.
Awesome service awesome food
Come here every time I come to Banff! Always excellent
Perfect what more can you say, thanks for a wonderful evening
Always an outstanding experience. Like a portal into Japan!
Vacationing with family, and picky teenage eaters. Waitress was exceptional and chefs very accommodating!! Everyone from our vegans to die-hard sushi lovers were very happy with their food. The s
The quality of the sushi was good. We were a bit disappointed in the selections available for nigiri sushi, but we are in the middle of the Canadian Rockies. Service was good. Walking around the historic hotel adds to the overall ambience.
Best Sushi in Banff! Take the Boat! Best Quality! Morgen
Diappointung. We waited for over half an hour to our sushi, probably because they were waiting for the boat dish to become available from another table. Some of the fish did not look fresh. Overall a less than average experience.
As part of our Rocky Mountaineer holiday, we had a most delectable meal at the restaurant. We were truly delighted with the wonderful meal and friendly and attentive hostess. We will definitely return when in Banff again.
Tucked in the back of the hotel it seems an afterthought. Clean but extremely dated and you would think you were in a cheap strip mall having sushi. Limited menu but fresh and good. Not a large selection of sushi rolls. Missing an opportunity with creativity. Decent
I can't say enough about the Samurai Sushi Bar at the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel. The service, the food, the sake! It was all so wonderful.
My wife and I had the combination dinner which included a fantastic tuna tataki appetite, miso soup, and 12 pieces of sashimi. We also had a sake sampler which really opened my eyes to how great sake can be. We were told that the sushi chef has been there for 27 years. What an artist.
If you are going to the Castle in the Rockies, book a table in advance on open table at Samurai. It is a small restaurant, so fills up fast.
This restaurant is within the Banff Fairmont hotel. It is a small, cozy place but there is also seating next to the chef's prep. Table. Very attentive service. Good choices.
Took my husband here for his birthday as he loves sushi :) There was even a good selection of vegetarian options for myself! The food was awesome and our server Mariam was outstanding. The chefs even made a special birthday sample roll for us! We were very impressed at how they made my husband’s birthday dinner a special and memorable experience. We definitely will return and would recommend it to
It’s my second time here and delighted that it’s just as delicious as the first time. Excellent sushi, great quality! Fresh everything on the menu is fabulous from sushi to desserts. Will be back again!
Best restaurant meal we had in a long time. Delicioud and fresh! Oustanding Chefs!
Franny was great! Chef swapped out the sushi boat so it could be all done GF- very appreciated!
Service and food excellent. One of our favourite spot
Great sushi bar. Good experience. Grateful to spend the last night here in Banff.
Good food. Good service.
I had a hot date that loves sushi and this was the perfect place! Great server, amazing sushi and a most awesome memory from our time there. Especially since my date had the strap on her shoe break, which bothered her, until a young girl with her mother looked up at her and said, in that little girl loud voice, how pretty she was!
We would go back in a heartbeat
Always such a great experience dining here, extremely fresh!
Great service and easy location right in the Banff Springs Hotel.
Portions are small but food is great quality and sushi flown in fresh daily.
This is my favourite Sushi restaurant in Alberta. The fish is always fresh and there is an interesting story of the origin and of their fish from the 70's
I would highly recommend eating here. It is expensive but considering you are eating at the Springs, it is well worth the cost.
We were hoping for a nice dinner given the location. We sat in the dining area, not at the bar. It felt more like a cafeteria. Noisy, very little ambiance, unclean walls. The food was alright, but we certainly have had better. For the price point, we would not dine here again.
We have been before. it is a Sushi restaurant ran by, imagine, Japanese chef's! hehe it is just so rare to find a restaurant that understands the very special care and attention that is given to all food prepared, cooked or, most important, uncooked. The chefs at Samurai proved masterful. My wife and i especially enjoy sitting up at the bar, where we can watch the food being prepared and can interact with the Chefs!
Excellent food - the sashimi was outstanding and the sushi also of the highest quality - an excellent Japanese restaurant.
We went to Samurai for our wedding night meal, and it was incredible! The staff treated us like royalty, and the food was fit for a king and queen!
