Wonderful service & delicious food
Everything was incredible
Very good sushis and sashimi, incredibly fresh. We were there at 6 and the service was flawless.

It’s closing soon
We come here every time we visit Banff! The food is always amazing. Yet the rolls did seem a little smaller than we had remembered them. The ambience is great, and the manager is very friendly and quite funny too 😄. We will be back!
I have not experienced a restaurant like the Samurai Sushi Bar in many years. I will defiantly come back. The food is incredible and very authentic. Even the wine and beer list was great. If you want to experience a Japanese restaurant this is the place to go.
Always the best. We come back, over and over and we love this place and the staff. Mayumi, Ross and Janelle always go above and beyond! Fantastic place
Environment was great and our host was very friendly. Good sushi option in the Fairmont. Only wish that their sushi roll combination list had more options than it does.
The food was AMAZING. So much flavor. They catered to my gluten allergy and went above and beyond. Our waiter was phenomenal,
And that is very hard to find. We were very pleased.
Best sushi east of Vancouver
The food quality at Samurai was underwhelming to say the least. The rolls were falling apart, the rice was too sticky, tempura tasted like it was cooked in old oil, and the teriyaki was simply a piece of chicken sliced up with cold teriyaki sauce on the side. We eat sushi at least 1-2x/month in Calgary and can identify superior quality sushi restaurants from the bottom dwellers and unfortunately, in my opinion, this restaurant deserves a rating in the latter category. Aside from food quality it’s worth noting that this restaurant requires a full renovation. It’s small, dated and the tables are sticky. It’s certainly not the Fairmont standard that we’ve become accustomed to over the years.
Wonderful anniversary dinner with my wife!
Always amazing . Best in The Bow Valley!
Excellent food freshly prepared friendly service. Caters for fish and meat lovers
The sushi is pricey but amazingly good. Service is great. We loved it so much that we went twice.
The service was great and the food was wonderful!!!
We were the ONLY ones in the restaurant on a Friday at 7:30. They sushi was just fair and it was overpriced for what it offered. Many other spots in town with a better atmosphere and pricing that it way better.
Food is cheap for a high price
Ordered a nigiri boat only to find out they put mostly rolls in it with little variety for over $100 they even added a cucumber roll 8 pieces out of 48.
It’s a little bit of a rip off
Service was amazing! Over priced for the quantity of nigiri. The restaurant ran out of rice and salmon. I would recommend the hot pot, very good but you spend a lot of time worrying about cooking the food than enjoying a night out with the company you are with.
Tempura and Gyoza were amazing. Chop chop, kappa and avocado maki were terrible. My husband and I were unable to swallow them. Waitress took them off the bill which was appreciated but would not order rolls again. Extremely fishy and almost a sticky texture. The waitress said that it is a very expensive type of nori that tastes a bit fishy and that the chef said he tasted it and it tastes like it should....
I had the udon which was so plain and lacking flavor. My husband had the sushi and the quality of fish was good. We eat sushi all the time- as there are limited options Banff there is not much to choose from. If you are really cravining sushi then it’s okay. But expensive for what you are getting too.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I am sorry to hear of your disappointment. I have shared your feedback with our culinary team as they are always looking for ways to improve. I do hope you enjoyed the rest of your time in Banff. Warm regards, Jeffrey Carpenter Food and Beverage Manager
Always the best sushi in the bow valley
The manager had his child there and they were noisy and loud
Was not the ambience we expected
Excellent quality food. Nice presentation.
Ross was out standing!!!!
Très bon service mais dispendieux pour des petits sushis pour un reps léger
Mari was great. Music was funny. I assume it’s a Fairmont thing. Food is great!
Would only recommend if they wanted sushi. No soft shell crab or fresh wTer eel
Loved the food and the service. Tasty food that was presented very well.
Very good but some of the patrons were entirely too loud and Mgmt did not control
The same as your local sushi place. Some good dishes but nothing spectacular. Gyoza dish was good and so was the beef tataki. Room is like a dungeon and decor and is really and super cheap and out dated. Don't expect to be impressed by the space. 100$ for two people to eat a light a meal.
Awesome service awesome food
Come here every time I come to Banff! Always excellent
Perfect what more can you say, thanks for a wonderful evening
Always an outstanding experience. Like a portal into Japan!
Vacationing with family, and picky teenage eaters. Waitress was exceptional and chefs very accommodating!! Everyone from our vegans to die-hard sushi lovers were very happy with their food. The s
The quality of the sushi was good. We were a bit disappointed in the selections available for nigiri sushi, but we are in the middle of the Canadian Rockies. Service was good. Walking around the historic hotel adds to the overall ambience.
Best Sushi in Banff! Take the Boat! Best Quality! Morgen
Diappointung. We waited for over half an hour to our sushi, probably because they were waiting for the boat dish to become available from another table. Some of the fish did not look fresh. Overall a less than average experience.
