I wouldn't recommend this restaurant for any sort of dining. Service was v slow, tables around us went uncleared for a very long time., which is a mess. Food wasn't good. Restaurant is not a good value at all.
Perfect atmosphere for family celebration. Excellent service.
We had a wonderful meal at Samuel's this week. Went here with my husband and two teenaged sons, and we all loved our meals and desserts. The service was very attentive, and the kitchen was able to accommodate a food allergy in the family beautifully. High quality food, prepared really well. Not complicated... just very nicely cooked and tasty, and we all want to go back soon. And the view of the school's old chapel out the window was beautiful!
Good food at well known location we’ve always wanted to go to. Shall return.
Always a pleasure to be at Samuel's: lovely setting, warm and relaxed ambiance, excellent menu, impressive cuisine, and impeccable service.
if you are looking for a special place for Sunday brunch---this is the place! excellent food, amazing choices, ability to have conversations and not feel rushed!
The fish was superb, the chicken pot a cozy dish on a cold spring evening, well mixed drink, lovely service. We will be back. Just wish you still had the burger on the menu. We would come in more often.
Very pleased. We will return!
The food was amazing. But that’s where i end the positive. Our server was out of sorts. Forgot several aspects of our order. A whole round of drinks were never delivered. The noise was unbearable. I wish the restaurant would’ve asked the patrons to bring it down a notch for the others trying to dine. There was a rowdy bunch of diners that made it impossible for the rest of the diners to talk. When the restaurant is quiet and more servers ( or the right servers) are on duty, it is a nice dining experience. But this is the second time we’ve had bad service and abnoxious out of control patrons.
Nice atmosphere with great staff! Food was ok for the price.
We had a wonderful time on Valentine’s Day. The rose for my lady was a nice touch. Everyone was cordial and friendly. Quite upscale. Every course was outstanding.
On Valentine's Day my partner and I enjoyed delicious food and great service from our waiter, Daniel. I would definitely recommend Samuels to anyone who likes good food with a good atmosphere.
Delicious meal and server was delightful. Nice experience . .. as we could hear each other quite well. Others in the room were quiet and made for enjoyable evening with good food.
We have dined at Samuels twice in the past few months, the food was wonderful and atmosphere was great also.
Even when we had a reservation we were told we had none and sent us home. Very bad service.
Had a very nice lunch with friend after visiting the Addison Museum. The portions could have been a bit larger. I was not sated, but the food was very good. The server was perfectly attentive without being overbearing.
We go here frequently and usually love the meal. This time something was terribly wrong. Not sure whether it was the waiter or the kitchen, but we waited over an hour for our meals and then one of the four was awful. They corrected it and took it off the bill. We will probably try it again but this was disappointing as we recommended it so highly to our friends who joined us.
I noted on my reservation that it was a special occasion- Birthday ( mine and my husband ‘s). I was very disappointed that this was not at all acknowledged. This was our first time dining there. Food was very good and noise level wasn’t too loud, which is very hard to find these days.
Samuel's is a wonderful spot for a midweek dinner or special occasion. The campus location is scenic and the dining room decor classic and attractive. The food was very well prepared and the service attentive and prompt. Makes for a very pleasant dining experience.
Ridiculously noisy in dining bar area
Hostess would not move us
They need to do something to solve that problem
We had a wonderful time at Samuels. The food was excellent and the service was very good. We like coming to Samuels for special events. We were at a table close to the bar so it was a bit noisy and difficult to carry on a conversation.
Since our last visit ? 2-3 years ago the food has greatly improved.
Your menu is sensible and inviting.....? gone are some of the clumsy
efforts such as ?? ( as I recall) fish smothered in a kind of ratatouille.
We will now dine with you on a regular basis.
Great New Years Eve dinner. Great ambiance and the bill o fare is very New England with service to boot. I’m putting Samuels on my preferred list of dinner places.
We lived in Andover for 13 years back in 80's and 90's and frequented The Andover Inn with our children and friends. We are back in the area and brought our teen grand children for a special dinner with them. Great exposure to fine dining for them ! Excellent menu and service.
Very good, well prepared and well served food--traditional with tasty flourishes.
Outstanding Christmas Eve dinner - best halibut entree I ever had
Fantastic brunch! Great for multi-generational gathering.
Appetizers and main courses were fantastic. We had lettuce cups seared scallops and Caesar salad... Two orders of short pulled short ribs and risotto, lamb shank and the Halibut special.
Drinks were great...
Unfortunately, only two of our four deserts wasn't even near the quality of the rest of the meal let alone good.
The chocolate lava cake was overdone and two people at our table got it they both were completely dried inside. It was more like a muffin. The chocolate trilogy was good and the creme brulee was also good.
My husband and I have been going to Samuel’s for years and although I never say never, we will NEVER go back. The noise level from the bar was unbearable : we were seated in the dining area and could not hear anything other than the obnoxious bar patrons. We asked to be moved to a quieter table but were told none was available. The service was DREADFUL: the server was confused and one of us was served an entree salad as an appetizer after an hour’s wait and the other two in our party were brought their entree salads twenty minutes later.
Second time dinning here. Great place, great food! I’ll be back😄.
I have been coming to the Andover Inn for meals since my children were students here 30 years ago. Samuel's is far and away the best restaurant at the Inn in all that time. I meet friends here regularly for excellent lunches. The service is just right: friendly, competent, but not intrusive. Never rushed. The menu is consistently interesting. The food is well prepared, comes hot (or cold, if it's meant to be cold) and ranges from excellent to outstanding. No missed steps anywhere. Yesterday my friends were blown away by the potato soup with all the extras one would have on a loaded baked potato. Fun, a little fey, and delicious on a cold day. Much of the food has a little creative twist to it that works very well. This is truly a fine place to relax and enjoy good food with friends. Thank you, Samuel's!
Went for Sunday brunch. Buffet had very little choice and only 3 choices for the entree. The lobster egg Benedict had 2 tiny pieces of lobster on each of the eggs, the crabmeat stuffed sole entree was dry, stuffing mostly gummy bread and couldn't see or taste any crab. The noise level in a half empty dining room was so high we could barely hear each other. Acoustics need to be dealt with. We both drove over 40 miles from different directions to meet for brunch there and were very disappointed. We won't be back .
Awesome. Our waiter Brian was outstanding.
Food was good it of this world, the filet was melt in your mouth delicious. The apple crisp was to die for. Cant wait to go back.
It was a quiet day for the restaurant, so we were able to have very good conversations and very attentive service.
Breakfast consisted of buffet an entree coffee a juice and dessert. Idea sounded great but overall relatively unimpressive. I ordered lobster eggs Benedict which ended up being regular eggs Benedict with a tiny piece of lobster. Creme brûlée dessert was the highlight. Otherwise relatively forgettable experience.
The cheese and salmon appetizer was exceptional and our entrees were very good. The dining room is calm if not completely quiet, and we relaxed and enjoyed an anniversary evening out. Very pleased.
There were five of us in our party who went to Samuel's on a Saturday evening around 7:30pm. We arrived ten minutes before our reservation and were seated right away. The atmosphere is very enjoyable and it was a pleasure that it was not noisy like some other places can be. The restaurant was full but the wait staff were very attentive but not intrusive. For appetizers we ordered the flatbread special of the evening which was a topping of duck, fig, and apricot glaze. It was outstanding! For entrees two of us tried the short rib risotto. It was very flavorful , the risotto was cooked to perfection and the serving was plentiful. I took one-third of mine home to enjoy the next day. Another one of our party ordered the salmon which she enjoyed very much. The other two ordered steak, one the filet and the other the hanger steak. Each of them were very pleased with their meals. The desserts were divine. We shared the chocolate lava cake and the bread pudding. We enjoyed our meal thoroughly and will look forward to returning again soon.
We enjoyed a very nice evening out to celebrate a birthday. The food was very good and the service was excellent. The atmosphere is very nice and the restaurant is lovely.
