Samuel's At The Andover Inn
Created with skill and passion, the menu features an exciting array of seafood, steaks, and signature items from our Executive Chef and his culinary team.
We offer a wide variety of spirits, local brews on tap and an ample selection of domestic and international wines complimenting our newly created menu. The Bar offers a lighter fare menu of sandwiches and appetizers to share.
Samuel's also features the Abbot Room, a private dining room that seats up to twelve guests, perfect for hosting a family party, business dinner, or gathering of friends.
Our restaurant offers high ceilings together with warm mahogany and eclectic décor creating a slightly contemporary yet comfortable feeling.

The food was awful. Not expected in the price range of this restaurant. I was actually unwell after the steak.
I frequent this restaurant. I had a special occasion luncheon date and had given Samuel's a big build up.
The food was terrible-the chicken lettuce appetizer that tasted like it came from a can, a steak served literally raw and service that was worse than the food.
I had a reservation for my birthday dinner here that I just cancelled. What's happening Samuel's??
We had to wait for one hour for our food. The waitress did not check on us and the food when it came out was bland. Will not come back.
Noise level was unbearable when dining room filled up. AC was not set at a good ambient temperature as it was freezing.
These are two things you can work on to make it a more pleasant environment for dining with friends.
The food was good, although not exceptional.
Server, Liz: professional!
Polenta Mushroom Ragout: Outstanding!
Great location and great food. Quiet with lots of ambiance a perfect place for a cozy meal!
Small family gathering on the front porch, summer's evening that looked like weather could go either way but cooperated nicely. What a delight! Do not think that the haddock/ cod dish will be "ho hum", done every day. This is really exceptional. Well mixed drinks and great desserts rounded out the evening. And no drama w salad sharing, much appreciated. BTW- The root veggie salad is wonderful!
Samuel's is our favorite place to eat in Andover. The selection is always good with adequate choices in terms of price. Entrees are always well-prepared and nicely presented. Usually, it's quiet enough so that you can hear each other.
Liz was terrific!!!!
Very pleased with the service. It's a delightful place to dine
Cozy and great Cosmis and beet food. Quiet out of the way spot
I went here with my boyfriend for our one-year anniversary. I'd been meaning to go for years but it's pricey, so when I got a gift certificate to the place I said let's do it now! My first impression of the interior of the restaurant was that it was certainly very dark... but the seating was incredibly comfortable (my eyes adjusted). Lizz' service was excellent and the bf had an delicious fig Manhattan, but no drinks for me that night, although each one sounded better than the next. I got the root veggie salad which had a delightfully light and fresh dressing (I think it was maple vinaigrette), but then was served more root veggies in my chicken pie. I was expecting something different since the menu did not specified braised veggies. The chicken was a little tough in my opinion which surprised me since it was organic and I thought it would be more tender than usual, and I didn't personally like the sauce because although nice-looking and velvety, it was a little sweet and under-seasoned for a chicken pie I thought. But the bf's pork shank was beautiful, brontosaurus huge, and and fell off the bone. The sauce it had was really good. They had run out of mashed potatoes so they served his with jasmine rice, but later brought over some fresh potatoes for him. I could not finish half my salad and even less of the dinner, and the bf did his best but barely got through half the giant shank so they packaged up the entrees and bf is enjoying them for lunches this week! The pork was really great, but I should have gotten the short rib risotto and instead of a salad, tried one of the amazing sounding desserts! All in all, we had a wonderful special date here.
We have eaten here several times and love the atmosphere and menu. To be honest the biggest challenge in the past is the waitstaff. Most are not good. They do not give a higher level of proper service that one expects. This time was so different! We had Cat this time and she was excellent! I would suggest anyone to ask for her tables! We will because the meal was so much better!
Went with my husband for a date night. We love the atmosphere and the ambiance. I had haddock and he had the chicken pot pie, both were fantastic.
Great restaurant and bar! Beautiful place. Food and service were excellent.
The restaurant was beautiful, but I must say I was very disappointed with my meal. My filet was not tough and the potatoes were saturated with oil. I do not think I will be returning anytime soon.
A first class experience for a group lunch. I reserved online (simple, straightforward) and asked for a round table if available for my group of 8 to facilitate discussion. Instead, we were set up in a private dining room which worked out great. I'd been there for lunch a few other times recently and the food, service and value are consistently outstanding.
Four of us went for Mother’s Day celebration on Saturday night and all enjoyed the meal. Two ordered Delmonico steaks, which were cooked perfectly. My smoked salmon trifle was delicious, as was my mother’s pulled short rib risotto. My husband’s Caesar salad was served with intact romaine hearts, which was hard to eat given that there was too much for the plate and also made it hard to spread the dressing. That was odd, but it was very fresh and tasty. My baked haddock was a tad overdone but still enjoyable. Plenty of crumbs and good jasmine rice. We didn’t have dessert because it took too long to grab the server, which was just as well.
If they ever take the lobster crepes off of the menu, my daughter will likely start a protest to get them back! It is a great place to sit and connect with my children.
I dined here with my son who attends Phillips Academy and my brother who was visiting campus for the first time. After touring the campus for most of the day, we were treated to the first dinner seating at 5:00 p.m. We were seated immediately and taken care of until our served introduced himself. Meals selected were Chicken Pot Pie, Baked Haddock, and Steak Filet. All were excellent, and the kitchen accommodated my son's request for a gorgonzola butter topping on his steak over the lobster sauce. Dessert was a delicious white chocolate cranberry bread pudding beautifully presented. It was so delicious that those of us who did not order dessert at the time returned later for "to go" orders! Our server was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. A lovely time!
The following day we returned for the Sunday buffet. The buffet is a wonderful way to start the day for those seeking lighter fare. The only hot item - other than a toasted bagel or muffin - was oatmeal. Eggs were available for a small additional charge. We ordered the Banana French Toast in addition to the buffet and felt more than satisfied. The hostess from the previous evening remembered us and welcomed us back. We had a different server but another great experience. We were up front that we were on a bit of a schedule and needed to move quickly, so our server made that happen! Many thanks to him!
The buffet was short on options , the entrees were ok but not especially good. The worst was the service, not enough staff and those that were there were not efficient or attentive. Overall poor value compared to the competition. Will not return.
We went for luncheon before going to AddIson Gallery just across the street. We also went for a nostalgic trip down memory lane as we went as young couples for special occasions when we wanted a special dress-up place. There used to be a beautiful room with a chandelier, grand piano, and waiters in tuxes. This has gone the way of so much that was gentile. The present restaurant was very nice and the food excellent. I highly recommend a visit.
I wouldn't recommend this restaurant for any sort of dining. Service was v slow, tables around us went uncleared for a very long time., which is a mess. Food wasn't good. Restaurant is not a good value at all.
Perfect atmosphere for family celebration. Excellent service.
We had a wonderful meal at Samuel's this week. Went here with my husband and two teenaged sons, and we all loved our meals and desserts. The service was very attentive, and the kitchen was able to accommodate a food allergy in the family beautifully. High quality food, prepared really well. Not complicated... just very nicely cooked and tasty, and we all want to go back soon. And the view of the school's old chapel out the window was beautiful!
Good food at well known location we’ve always wanted to go to. Shall return.
Always a pleasure to be at Samuel's: lovely setting, warm and relaxed ambiance, excellent menu, impressive cuisine, and impeccable service.
if you are looking for a special place for Sunday brunch---this is the place! excellent food, amazing choices, ability to have conversations and not feel rushed!
The fish was superb, the chicken pot a cozy dish on a cold spring evening, well mixed drink, lovely service. We will be back. Just wish you still had the burger on the menu. We would come in more often.
Very pleased. We will return!
The food was amazing. But that’s where i end the positive. Our server was out of sorts. Forgot several aspects of our order. A whole round of drinks were never delivered. The noise was unbearable. I wish the restaurant would’ve asked the patrons to bring it down a notch for the others trying to dine. There was a rowdy bunch of diners that made it impossible for the rest of the diners to talk. When the restaurant is quiet and more servers ( or the right servers) are on duty, it is a nice dining experience. But this is the second time we’ve had bad service and abnoxious out of control patrons.
Nice atmosphere with great staff! Food was ok for the price.
My wife and I celebrated Valentine's Day with our son. We loved out food and the beautiful wood working décor. The atmosphere was lively.
We had a wonderful time on Valentine’s Day. The rose for my lady was a nice touch. Everyone was cordial and friendly. Quite upscale. Every course was outstanding.
On Valentine's Day my partner and I enjoyed delicious food and great service from our waiter, Daniel. I would definitely recommend Samuels to anyone who likes good food with a good atmosphere.
Delicious meal and server was delightful. Nice experience . .. as we could hear each other quite well. Others in the room were quiet and made for enjoyable evening with good food.
We have dined at Samuels twice in the past few months, the food was wonderful and atmosphere was great also.
Even when we had a reservation we were told we had none and sent us home. Very bad service.
Had a very nice lunch with friend after visiting the Addison Museum. The portions could have been a bit larger. I was not sated, but the food was very good. The server was perfectly attentive without being overbearing.
