Samuel's At The Andover Inn
Created with skill and passion, the menu features an exciting array of seafood, steaks, and signature items from our Executive Chef and his culinary team.
We offer a wide variety of spirits, local brews on tap and an ample selection of domestic and international wines complimenting our newly created menu. The Bar offers a lighter fare menu of sandwiches and appetizers to share.
Samuel's also features the Abbot Room, a private dining room that seats up to twelve guests, perfect for hosting a family party, business dinner, or gathering of friends.
Our restaurant offers high ceilings together with warm mahogany and eclectic décor creating a slightly contemporary yet comfortable feeling.
Family from California and Japan we’re visiting and we were all very impressed by the full experience- food, service, atmosphere, convenience. We were in the room with the bar and the noise level was a little higher than I would prefer but not so loud as to detract from our evening.
We went for Brunch. The Inn is very nice and perfect for a beautiful Fall day in NE. We were greeted immediately upon arrival by a very friendly hostess and wait staff! You start with the brunch buffet which was abundant with all your normal selections. In addition, you can select one item from the entrees that were offered so come with an appetite!! I loved the buffet and the entree I chose was the Lobster Benedict which was tasty but my only feedback would be that I expected more lobster meat! There were only a few very tiny pieces on each egg in comparison to what I’ve had in many other restaurants. I heard many people were ordering the same entree so maybe they were running low on lobster meat? Overall the food, service and ambiance was very good and I would visit again!
This was our first dinner together in one year since our daughter was born! We had a great experience and will return as soon as possible 😊
Nice menu choices, delicious food, friendly waiter. My friend enjoyed her birthday celebration.
We love Samuels. While the prices are moderately high for the area (expect about $150-170 for two if you each get a drink, one appetizer, two entrees, and one dessert, including gratuity), the atmosphere, food and service are always excellent. I like to think of it as relaxed luxury. The food is as good as any of the top restaurants in Boston. Try the specials if you go, the chef likes to use local and in-season ingredients and it shows. They also rotate the beers on tap and a have a good scotch and wine selection. They have multiple rooms and that keeps the noise level nice and comfortable for conversation at the table.
Always a good dining experience.
A little disappointed with the salmon special with you plain white rice???
The service and ambiance were very good, as usual.
The food and drink were good, except the fish, which was dry and seemed to have been frozen rather than fresh. Also, the portion of asparagus was very small.
High end brunch buffet with entree meal and dessert for $28. It was fairly empty at 1:30. Pats game was on at the bar area so that was a bonus. Walk off the feast by visiting the on-campus small but free art gallery directly across the street. Oh, and try the house bloody mary and/or bloody mary make-your own station if you really feel like filling up.
Usually VERY good service, this one time they seem to have been under-staffed, so we'll overlook it. It's the ONLY nice restaurant in Andover which makes it triply valuable to all of us.
We were all very happy with our food. The waiter was quite attentive initially, but then kind of disappeared.
absolutely . . we find the hamburgers to be outstanding! our favorite pick each time we dine there
Delicious filet mignon. Lobster mushroom crepes were amazing and the haddock was fantastic.
Fantastic food. Fantastic people. Fantastic atmosphere. Never disappoints.
As always, so lovely to be back to friendly atmosphere! The food was great, too!!
Service a bit slow since it was very quiet. Food was overall good. Best mashed potatoes, jasmine rice not so good. We had salmon and chicken dishes. Nice wine selection
First time back after many years. The contemporary refurbish of the dining room was well done and gave a much more casual feel to the venue. Will return much sooner than before.
Service was great food was excellent. Drinks were fair. Nice quiet little place.
It was classic and the food was really good. Service is equally great.
Ordered beef with mushrooms, potatoes and Brussels sprouts. Meal was served in a timely fashion, hot and tasty. It was a little heavier than past sirloin preparations but proved eminently digestible.
excellent service from wait staff. very comfortable environment. very pleasant experience
The dining room was too cold, so we ate very comfortably on the front patio. The server was very helpful.
The food was mostly excellent. The specials and cocktail were amazing. The ice cream was spectacular.
Three out of six of us were quite disappointed with the fish taco at lunch on 7/25. Very small amount of fish, too much filler.
Very disappointed with the food. Service and drinks were outstanding. Beet salad unappetizing with a huge dollop of mustard on it was taken off our bill. The swordfish special: fish over cooked and very bland seasoning. The pork chop was also over cooked served with running mashed potatoes. The server, Jeff, was very accommodating. Very disappointed and will not return. Spend your money elsewhere!
Everything was perfect service and food outstanding
Food was delicious- very good NY strip. Tuna Tatar was amazing.
Second time here for lunch food and service impeccable can’t ask for better next time Sunday brunch
We have had dinner at Samuels to celebrate our anniversary for the past several years. The ambience is perfect, the food is always delicious, and service this time, was exceptional ( Michael was amazing)
Service was slow and we had to send back food and drinks back as they were not prepared as requested. Food was good but limited menu, especially for those not wanting beef.
Great meal on a nice evening with an old friend. Vodka martini was fabulous!
We went to Samuel's for the first time a few months ago for a lunch dessert after a hike in the forest behind the Inn. We felt welcome, despite old clothes, and had a wonderful snack. We decided to return for dinner one night (with better clothes) and left highly impressed with both the food and service.
We've been back several times since then, and every meal was excellent. The menu offers a wide selection of items, including seafood entrees. We've included friends we wanted to impress, and were successful. Salmon, braised short ribs, and chicken were early favorites, and it has been hard to choose anything different since.
The waitstaff are also a highlight: attentive, friendly, quick, and helpful. Thanks! Substitutions were allowed and correctly served. A highlight is the small booklet they use to bring the bill. It was older and had an American Express logo that includes the statement "We accept American Express credit cards and Traveler's Checks." Having tired cashing in an old Traveler's check at an American Express kiosk at Logon unsuccessfully, I thought I'd have a little fun: "Oh Great! I can use my Traveler's check here!" The waitress was younger and didn't fully understand what a Traveler's check was all about. Of course, they no longer are accepted, but it was a nice end to a great experience.
Great food, excellent service, cozy dining area, and beautiful location. The dining area had two sections. One had televisions and a bar that is separated by a wall with the quiet, more formal, dining area we always select. The meals tend to be slightly more expensive than average, but the quality makes it a great experience.
We ate in the bar area as dining “packed” lovely attentive server open airy ambiance comfortable seating.. varied menu options. Delish veggie burger, veggie bowl, quiche+ salad.
I went there for lunch with a few friends and was really pleasantly surprised. I ordered a shrimp cocktail, and shared a salad. The shrimp were large, crisp and delicious and so nicely complemented by the sauce. The salad was very pretty to look at with julienne watermelon radishes and berries. Overall, it was a delightful lunch.
It's just the right degree of casual. Good food, good service...
The food was excellent. The service was excellent. Beautiful place.
Wait staff was not capable of multiple orders, follow up, and service was insufficient. Poor in our estimation and had not been with previous visits.
The food and service were great, but the noise level in the dining room was unbearable. There was one large table with 13 ladies seated at it, and the noise level was so high that the two of us literally had to shout at each other to have any conversation. We asked if we could be seated in some other room, but were told that was the only available room. It’s too bad, because we really enjoyed the food and the waiter was very polite, but the noise made it such an unpleasant dining experience that we won’t go back. The dining room is small and the draperies were removed when redecorating took place, so the acoustics in the room are very poor now. We dine out a lot but can only remember one other time in the last thirty years that we had such an unpleasant dining experience anywhere else because of the noise level.
We had a wonderful dinner the other night at Samuels. The service was excellent...Michael was friendly and knowledgeable. He was attentive without hovering and he and Sally made us feel like old friends. The grilled cauliflower steak was delicious and my husband thoroughly enjoyed the horseradish crusted rib eye special. Samuels always feels like a special place to have dinner and this visit was no exception. The ambiance is elegant without being stuffy and the food and drinks are top notch. We look forward to our next visit.
Someday I will come here and not get the schrod, but not sure when that will be! We all enjoyed our dinners and split a great salad. We will be back.
Liam our server was excellent. Experience was dampened by rudeness of other patrons. Very nice place.
