Sam's Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
We ate there for a cousin's Christmas get together. The food was delicious and all of the steaks were cooked as ordered. Unlike some other upscale steak places, you actually get a salad and a side with your meal. Most places seem to charge a lot of money just for the steak and then all other items are ala carte. The bread and butter were wonderful. Our service was outstanding. Tom did a great job with all 8 of us. I would recommend this restaurant!!
The food was excellent, our waiter was very good. Our only complaint is that from the time the salad came to the time our meal came was almost an hour. We weren't told until we asked, that the kitchen was running behind. Either our waiter or the manager should have come by and advised that this was happening. A table was seated after us, got their meal and left before we received our main course.
Everything from the Manhattan to the filet were wonderful and tasty. The baked potato was worthy of a mention too. Great food and the Christmas decorations are over the top! We sat in the bar area and really enjoyed the laid back musician who performed for over an hour without a break.
Ate steak on Thanksgiving, and loved it. (There was a great-looking turkey dinner option, too.)
Arrived on time for reservation, and we were seated promptly. The place was packed, and the servers and service staff kept things well under control. We saw lots of families of all shapes and sizes enjoying themselves. We felt the same.
We were at Sam’s Steakhouse this particular evening for Thanksgiving. Their extravagant holiday decorations and lovely music made a normally superb experience beyond compare. Staff is always gracious and willing to adapt anything. This is one of the sparking gems of St. Louis!
Sams is a superb steakhouse but they fell short on their thanksgiving traditional dinner. There was nothing creative about their dinner. The food seemed to have been thrown in a pot, heated and served. I would highly recommend this restaurant as a steakhouse but would recommend not for a traditional holiday meal.
our server was very friendly and pleasant to speak to. food quantity was good...not to little not to much. wine selection was decent, however costly. would be nice to have a choice in the $20 to $30 range. also great they accepted 3 year old gift certificates purchased at a fundraiser trivia evening. :)
great evening over all
Though I have eaten at this restaurant before, my date had never done so. I remember my last time was a more romantic setting with outstanding food with every course. This time there was no romantic ambiance and yet the servers were outstanding and tried to please us in every way. But the disappointment of the evening was the quality of each course of food being bland and ordinary. The nice chef even tried to re-cook the prime rib for my date with more seasoned juice and yet it was not much better. Twice baked potato was too dry, asparagus too crispy, and yet the best part of the dinner was the tasty bread and butter. We felt the overall taste of the dinner should have been better considering the high price of the meal. Was it an off night?
I used to love Sam’s and would go there for every occasion. I convinced my boyfriend to take me there last year for my birthday and our steaks were bland. I asked him to give it one more chance and we went for our anniversary. The steaks had more flavor this time but nothing that came out was hot, it was about room temperature. Service was great but don’t think we will be back for round 3.
We had reservations for 8 at 6:30pm for my brothers 50th birthday celebration.
I am not typically one who likes to complain but last night was a terrible experience for all of us. Our waiter WAS NOT on his game last night. We didn't have menus, it took 20 minutes for one of our party to receive their iced tea. Then once given menus, he gave menus to all but 1 person (me). Then we waited for him to return. We had to ask if there were any specials. Just in general sub par Service last night
Food. Also terrible. 3 people ordered Porterhouse steaks at 48.00 each. They were extremely fatty. One ordered Prime Rib and he was unable to finish it as he was unable to chew it. Very poor flavor.
As a family we have come here for several special occasions and have always found it to be good quality. Unfortunately last night was not one of those occasions. In general you need to step it up in the quality department if you intend to charge those prices.
Alicia, our waitress, provided excellent service in a moderately quiet dinner environment for a great experience here. This was our first visit, and we both had filet mignon, my husband ordering the special - both were perfectly cooked. And the crab cakes appetizer was excellent also. We will be back!
We like the traditional roasted prime rib which has been excellent here in the past.
The grilled "French version" was encouraged. Not as good as the basic prime rib.
The "Sams Sauce" was good, but hides the amount fat on the cut. There was a lot.
Service was great. Good pour on the cocktails. We'll be back.
My hubs & I went to celebrate a promotion and to wind down after a hectic week. This was our first time here and we were not disappointed! Our waiter, Charlie, was just attentive enough, knowledgeable and very nice. The only drawback was the noise. There was a party going on in the room next to us and it was a bit noisy. Delicious food (the crab cakes were the best I've had since I visited Maryland!), generous portions and cooked to order. We'll definitely be back.
