If I didn't have to choose one star I wouldn't. We have eaten here before (last year) and it was amazing but Saturday night was awful and I am not sure if the place is changing hands or what but to start we walked in and the person at the front didn't acknowledge three of the couples that walked in. We ordered drinks and appetizers and it took 45 mins for that. I had to ask for the drinks and dinner was another 30 min wait. My husband had to go up to the bar and get the second glass of wine because when I asked the waiter about him he did not go directly to the bar to get it and by passed it. Waiter did not apologize one time for anything. The cook came out or what we think as the cook and said that they were going thru growing pains and that Open Table was the issue and weren't expecting it to be so busy but they weren't busy on the inside at all and lots of people left because they had been waiting an hour or more food and drinks. The menu was different as well. More bar food. than last time we were there. The oysters my husband order came out after we received our main courses and he sent them back. When we asked about the oysters and why they didn't come out when my soup came out the waiter said they were shucking them? Really?????? Takes you an hour to shuck 6 oysters? Again no apology. Won't need to go back to this place for sure.
The food was just ok, the service was really bad even though the restaurant was not all that busy. The view is great but we would not rush back here any time soon
Half of the menu was not available, everything else was great
Service was extremely slow, despite the fact the restaurant was not busy. Apparently our order was lost, we did not see our order for close to an hour. Only saving Grace was the outside area looking over the marina.
We have been to Sam’s a few times before this visit and it was always good, especially for brunch. Not so this time. This was the first warm day of the spring and as a result they opened the outside patio of the restaurant.
The restaurant was not ready. We were seated inside at a great table overlooking the marina and the water. Good thing because everything else was a cluster.... We had a new waiter who was trying hard, but was way behind the eight ball. We ordered drinks after about a fifteen minute wait to be greeted. A half an hour later I went to the bar to retrieve the drinks. I overheard a waitress say the same thing was happening outside. We then finally saw our new waiter and ordered an appetizer a bottle of wine. It took forever to get the appetizer, which was OK. Dinner then took at least as long. They were certainly not going to turn our table on this night. The folks next to us came after we did and were served earlier than we were, but complained so much that their meal was comped. We were content to with a great view and a nice bottle of wine. When dinner finally arrived it was so late that we were more than ready to eat. The dinner was OK, but did nothing to help the situation. We were there over three hours. Pretty disappointing...
Awful food burger and fries cold asked fresh fries still cold. Service sat 35 minutes to get a hello 1 hour 14 minutes later food and it was every table around me not just us but the manager went to there tables never approached us. Very disappointing two times in a row. Gave the window table we reserved to the guest in front of us that had no reservation. The view was not worth it
Service was disappointing. Waited 10 minutes just to get our drinks, which were all sodas. Had to flag waiter down to get refills as we waited 40+ minutes or so to get our dinner. Food was good, but absolutely no concern of service, our table was not alone in our frustration and wait. 10 minutes wait for drinks and 40+ minute wait for food with no visit from waiter is not ok.
I wouldn't go there unless it's just for a drink. Service is horrible and continues to go down hill the last few years. After waiting 45 mins for an app., we ordered our entrees and ordered a bottle of wine. After 20 mins - we gave up. Super slow service. Chairs felt like they were about to break. It's sad because the view and location is nice.
My friends and I frequent Sam’s often. First time I’ve used your reservation site. It was easy and will use it again.
We have been here several times and it never disappoints. We prefer to sit outside on the dock, but the cold weather prevented that this time. We will definitely be back this summer.
We are thrilled with the latest and best iteration of Sams. The new owner and chef have renovated and updated the space and are turning out exceptional food and fun drinks. It will be even better when the weather allows the outdoor bar to open. Easily one of the best places in Annapolis, and one of the very few on the water. Check it out whether it's your first time or you haven't been there in a while.
Noted Easter dinner at Sam's. The food was delicious and the prices were reasonable. Sam's never disappoints.
Not a good choice for Easter as we had to wait 20 minutes past our reservation time. The food is quite good but very small portions for the price. I've heard it's a great option for non-holiday meals, however. Location is great as we were looking for waterfront.
We came for Easter Brunch. Our waitress was horrid. IT took well over an hour to get our food. Too much to put in here but I did leave a negative response on yelp. We had heard such grand reviews and so were so disappointed.
Easter Sunday brunch menu was great!!
We went as a party of 8 for Easter Brunch. It was great! Free parking, waterfront (view was spectacular) Service was wonderful, food was great and my favorite part- we could celebrate Easter as a family and I didn't have to cook!
Met a friend for leisurely dinner and had a great time. The staff is always welcoming and the food is yummy. Love the new carpeting.
1/2 price burger nights are great. The burgers delicious. On this particular Tuesday evening (3/27/18) the service was a bit spotty - slow to take & deliver order, no water offered, etc.
It had been a while since we had dined at Sam’s and it wasn’t long into the service that we remembered why. After ordering one of our favorite dishes, and after ordering a glass of wine, the waitress came by to tell us that they were out of the dish (lobster Mac and cheese), and out of that wine. Even as we explained to the waitress that we had experienced this problem in the past, and that was why we hadn’t returned recently, there was really no effort to compensate us for the experience. The manager never stopped by, and although the waitress was very friendly, even she seemed a bit exasperated by the circumstances.
Scallops were excellent. The tenderloin not described properly on the menu. The cracked pepper coating was overdone. and ruined a great cut of meat.
I love the restaurant but disappointed in this meal. They should also offer a better wine selection by the glass!!
We had a small snafu with the bill that was promptly fixed. Otherwise, no complaints.
Kelly our table hostess was amazing
We will be back.
Kelly the waitress was stupendous. But you must take that PO BOY SHRIMP off the menu.It tastes like gasoline The lobster roll is superb
The menu online is not updated. We went for brunch and were extremely disappointed by the menu when we got there.
We have been going to Sam's for years. Although we have always thought the food was great, it became spotty at times. The interior was tired. It has been through some untoward times. I must say it is turning around. The interior is freshly painted, the wine list is the best I've seen in the Annapolis area and the food was wonderfully prepared. We had a great time with friends for dinner. The acoustic music, the wine list, great food and fresh atmosphere are awesome. Keep all of it...for improvement the only thing I can think of is suggesting wine pairings for each dish.
Great food and atmosphere. However overpriced and portions were small
We had a great server. She was on time with our food and was very attentive. She was very upbeat and made my date night nice. I cannot remember her name, but she had pretty grey/blue eyes. She took the time to check on us, but was not interrupting our date time.
My husband and I went as part of restaurant week. We both got different options and were very impressed with both of our meals. He got the 6 oz filet w mushroom demi and I got the mussels. I was surprised and delighted to find a starfish in my mussels! I didn't eat it, but it's a testament to just how fresh their food is. Our waiter was great and the manager checked on us as well. Would love to go in the summer and dine outside, but had a great time neverthelesss.
Excellent food there was 7 of us first time for all of us highly recommend
Poor selection, super slow service waited 1:45 for food! Did not make good impression at all will never go back!
Kelley was awesome
Very disappointing. Went for brunch on a Sunday for my daughter's birthday. Very overpriced and the food was mediocre and nothing special. Menu was very limited and not what they featured on-line. Only had 6 to 8 choices. That shouldve been our clue to leave. First time there and I won't return. A lot better places in the area.
Fish tacos were disappointing. The crab cake as well. Rockfish was exceptionally prepared.
Food was fresh and delicious. Hubby had the seafood linguine and I had chef’s special: fresh mussels, crab leg and Maine lobster tail over smoked grits with curried cauliflower. It was so good!!!!!!
Quite frankly, Sam's is one of a kind. Although the menu is somewhat small its creative and you can't beat the view of the wealth floating in front of you. Most importantly the servers treat you like family. During a pouring rain storm our server Jason, came to our table, poured us some of our wine and excused himself and drove a bar patron back to her boat slip to ensure she got home safe. THAT is going "Above and Beyond" and we commend you Jason. Cheers!
This place exceeded my expectations . The server was nice and quick . The live blues was nice and inviting . Just a fantastic place to dine & impress at the same time
We really enjoyed the food and had excellent service throughout the dinner.
I love, love, love Sam's!! For many years, my family and I have cherished this restaurant. It is truly our hidden neighborhood gem. The entire menu, including the bar options, is simply phenomenal. However, I was displeased on Tuesday, February 6th during the winter menu release night because our server decided that he should tip himself $14.83 on a $36 tab. While this is not typical of my Sam's experience, it is one that put a sour taste in my mouth.
I enjoyed EVERYTHING about the night. The service was awesome!! The food was very fresh and tasted wonderful! The only thing that I will speak on is the music in the bar area was a little loud for our table conversation. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the music but we had a difficult time talking over it. But, the next time, if there is live music, we will ask for a table away from the bar.
4th trip here dining room was terribly cold and the live entertainment was just too loud for the space. Not a bad performer but not a volume appropriate for the space . Service was fine. Food was not very good. My salmon was incredibly small for a dinner portion at 28$... It was served.on an appetizer plate.
