We had a small snafu with the bill that was promptly fixed. Otherwise, no complaints.
Kelly our table hostess was amazing
We will be back.
Kelly the waitress was stupendous. But you must take that PO BOY SHRIMP off the menu.It tastes like gasoline The lobster roll is superb
The menu online is not updated. We went for brunch and were extremely disappointed by the menu when we got there.
We have been going to Sam's for years. Although we have always thought the food was great, it became spotty at times. The interior was tired. It has been through some untoward times. I must say it is turning around. The interior is freshly painted, the wine list is the best I've seen in the Annapolis area and the food was wonderfully prepared. We had a great time with friends for dinner. The acoustic music, the wine list, great food and fresh atmosphere are awesome. Keep all of it...for improvement the only thing I can think of is suggesting wine pairings for each dish.
Great food and atmosphere. However overpriced and portions were small
We had a great server. She was on time with our food and was very attentive. She was very upbeat and made my date night nice. I cannot remember her name, but she had pretty grey/blue eyes. She took the time to check on us, but was not interrupting our date time.
My husband and I went as part of restaurant week. We both got different options and were very impressed with both of our meals. He got the 6 oz filet w mushroom demi and I got the mussels. I was surprised and delighted to find a starfish in my mussels! I didn't eat it, but it's a testament to just how fresh their food is. Our waiter was great and the manager checked on us as well. Would love to go in the summer and dine outside, but had a great time neverthelesss.
Excellent food there was 7 of us first time for all of us highly recommend
Poor selection, super slow service waited 1:45 for food! Did not make good impression at all will never go back!
Kelley was awesome
Very disappointing. Went for brunch on a Sunday for my daughter's birthday. Very overpriced and the food was mediocre and nothing special. Menu was very limited and not what they featured on-line. Only had 6 to 8 choices. That shouldve been our clue to leave. First time there and I won't return. A lot better places in the area.
Fish tacos were disappointing. The crab cake as well. Rockfish was exceptionally prepared.
Food was fresh and delicious. Hubby had the seafood linguine and I had chef’s special: fresh mussels, crab leg and Maine lobster tail over smoked grits with curried cauliflower. It was so good!!!!!!
Quite frankly, Sam's is one of a kind. Although the menu is somewhat small its creative and you can't beat the view of the wealth floating in front of you. Most importantly the servers treat you like family. During a pouring rain storm our server Jason, came to our table, poured us some of our wine and excused himself and drove a bar patron back to her boat slip to ensure she got home safe. THAT is going "Above and Beyond" and we commend you Jason. Cheers!
This place exceeded my expectations . The server was nice and quick . The live blues was nice and inviting . Just a fantastic place to dine & impress at the same time
We really enjoyed the food and had excellent service throughout the dinner.
I love, love, love Sam's!! For many years, my family and I have cherished this restaurant. It is truly our hidden neighborhood gem. The entire menu, including the bar options, is simply phenomenal. However, I was displeased on Tuesday, February 6th during the winter menu release night because our server decided that he should tip himself $14.83 on a $36 tab. While this is not typical of my Sam's experience, it is one that put a sour taste in my mouth.
I enjoyed EVERYTHING about the night. The service was awesome!! The food was very fresh and tasted wonderful! The only thing that I will speak on is the music in the bar area was a little loud for our table conversation. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the music but we had a difficult time talking over it. But, the next time, if there is live music, we will ask for a table away from the bar.
4th trip here dining room was terribly cold and the live entertainment was just too loud for the space. Not a bad performer but not a volume appropriate for the space . Service was fine. Food was not very good. My salmon was incredibly small for a dinner portion at 28$... It was served.on an appetizer plate.
Enjoyed the OysterFest so very much. Delicious oysters and we certainly enjoyed them raw and in stew. Would not have gone if it had been held outside, but inside was comfortable and everything seemed to be working well. Live music was wonderful background without being overpowering. Great job, Sam's.
We went here for new years eve. It was very laid back with a great view. I had the sea bass and my wife had yhe lobster. The food was very good with leaving us full but not stuffed. We will be going back
While the food and service were both good, this place made me give a credit card just for a reservation, and then they automatically tack a 20% gratuity to a table of TWO! I mean, I understand when you get big parties to automatically add gratuity, but a table of 2 people?!?! Plus normally auto gratuity is 18% but they assume 20%. I will never go back just for this fact. And the thing is, I ALWAYS tip over 20%....
New Year’s Eve at Sam’s has become our family tradition - 4 years in a row now. Having younger children, we go to the early seating. It’s almost always a fantastic experience with amazing food. This last year was slightly off though. In the past, they’ve been fine with kids ordering off a limited kids’ menu rather than the prix fixe, but not this time. It also seemed like the portion sizes for the prix fixe menu were somewhat skimpier this year. Still, overall we were pleased with our experience and will continue to go back for both NYE and other occasions throughout the year.
Enjoyed the ambiance, service and the meal. Will return when in town.
Unique menu and delicious food in a quiet setting. Great for special occasions or a group get together. Chefs are amazing. Highly recommended.
Completely disappointed. I have been there numerous times before. Went there for Christmas Eve dinner, our server was completely inattentive. Would not even refill the waters, or bring bread to the table. Misquoted the specials. My wife’s rockfish was prepared horribly. No bananas for the flambé. What restaurant runs out of bananas? And they were completely presumptuous by factoring in a 20 percent tip for a party of four. Won’t be going back. I drive past plenty of restaurants where I can spend $50-$60 per person and have a much better meal.
Birthday celebration. Few guests were in the restaurant, so it was more quiet than normal. Excellent service, great food, and the guitar player/singer was very good. It was a great choice.
Dinner was wonderful. But Sams changed their frequent rewards program without letting me know. I signed up for the new program and asked if my dinner could be included. I was told that it could only be done by the owner who was not in. I called Sams several times in the past 3 weeks but my calls have not been returned. This is not customer appreciation. I will take my business elsewhere.
Fantastic ambiance. Quality seafood. Stellar service.
Our reservation was for a party of two at 6:00 pm for the special Thanksgiving menu. The restaurant was very busy that evening but it appeared there were plenty of servers. When we were seated, our waitress asked us for our dinner order and we had to ask her if we could have a cocktail first! We had our cocktails and then ordered our dinner -- the traditional Thanksgiving entree and sides. The food was fine. We had also ordered dessert -- the Pumpkin Cannoli with chocolate chips and caramel. I had ONE chocolate chip in my Cannoli. Neither of us had any caramel with the Cannolis. When we received our check, a 20% gratuity was already added for this dinner for two. The actual menu for this Thanksgiving dinner stated that the price was $55 per person, "not including tax and 20% gratuity." This did not, to us, give us advance notice that there would be an automatic 20% gratuity added to our check. We chose to not cause a problem at the restaurant and paid the check but vowed that we would not return. In sum, we felt rushed with our dinner, received a dessert that was not as advertised, and were unfairly charged at 20% gratuity.
We've dined here numerous times and, to be honest, service & food quality have sometimes been inconsistent. Fortunately, the stars aligned on this visit & everything was excellent. I highly recommend the mussels & calamari for appetizers. The crab cakes are "the real deal" & are delicious. And, of course, the setting can't be beat!
We four enjoyed Sam's. The food (especially the crab cakes) was very good and the service (Kevin) attentive.
Fin place to take your boss your mother or a date. Live music and good food and drink makes for a nice evening.
The brunch food was delicious, the services attentive but not overbearing and the restaurant reasonably quiet, even during boat show weekend.
White table cloth restaurant, but not too formal that provided a quiet ambiance and attentive service even on a Saturday night during one of Annapolis' busiest weekends of the year.
Our recent visit was overall very good. The one problem we encountered was at our dessert. The restaurant was not very busy and after ordering we waited a good 20 minutes. We had been served our coffee and we had finished that, and we were told that the manger had to present our flambe but was very busy. I saw him walking around many times and was not sure what he was doing. We had just about were ready to cancel the dessert when he finally came over,. We then had to relocate ourselves if we wanted to see the presentation because of our location near a fire alarm. He did not apologize for the lateness, just said it was busy. I did not see the reason for the delay since again the restaurant was not very busy, probably 5 tables.
Service seemed overwhelmed but only half tables were occupied. Food was good.
This was a blind-dining experience. Never heard of restaurant, just used the app to find something by the water with parking that I didn't have to wait long for Sunday Brunch. I chose outside, finding indoors to be a little musky in odor. I had reviewed the menu online before getting there and was pleased with the selections. My brunch dish was pricy and Dennys does a better job with their skillet dishes than the hash dish I received with a barely melted slice of American white Kraft cheese on top. That blew my mind especially for the cost. Probably won't return.
Very friendly, accommodating and attentive. We drove up to the dock, parked the boat and were seated right away. The ambiance was wonderful. The staff were very attentive and friendly.
