Had a great time. Food was fantastic, service was great. Couldn’t have a better view. Would highly recommend Sam’s.
Weirdly, at 8:00 on a Saturday night they started setting up for a kids band contest right in the middle of the restaurant. It killed the whole feel of the evening with all these people running in and out and setting up equipment. Seemed strange for what was once a premier restaurant in Annapolis, and especially for a Saturday night.
My son and I recently dined at Sam’s after being unable to obtain a diner reservation elsewhere. I should have been forewarned based on the availability of the last minute reservation. I had the Steak Fritte special, my son had the Best Crabcake in Annapolis. There was nothing special about my steak. It was over cooked and smothered in a tangy sauce that must have been intended to mask the quality of the meat. My son’s crabcake was disappointing to say the least. As first time visitors to Annapolis we hope that other establishments have a crabcake that can truly lay claim as the best in Annapolis. In fact we know this to be true as we had a wonderful meal the previous evening at Cantler’s.
Was unable to appreciate the openness of the restaurant because of the weather. Tables are well spaced, prices are reasonable, everybody loved their food. Offered a prix fixe menu during restaurant week which was a great value. Need to go back when the weather is warmer and enjoy the open air ambiance.
My husband and I decided to try out Annapolis Restaurant Week, and Sam’s on the Waterfront has a great menu set for the occasion. Upon arriving, we had no issues with parking and were greeted at the door by a friendly hostess. We made a reservation 20 minutes before arriving and were shown to our table immediately. We sat next to the windows overlooking the water and everything about the restaurant was peaceful and enjoyable. Our food was fantastic and the portion sizes were great considering they were to be smaller than the portion sizes when it’s not Annapolis Restaurant Week. Great experience! Great service by Kerrigan! Will be back again soon!
Great food and service !
We decided to try Sams because they were participating in restaurant week and the offered menu looked good. The setting is on the water, a marina back bay but on the water. The service was good, we were waited on quickly and the waiter was attentive. The food honestly was mediocre at best. The crab soup was okay but lacked crab, one bite in the entire cup. My wife's calamari was cooked but not long enough to get crispy. Our sandwiches were lackluster, my burger was over cooked and bland and my wifes chicken sandwich was dry, very dry. One positive, their french fries are really good! Long and short, for us it was not worth the ride.
The service was wonderful and everyone was very professional. The restaurant has outstanding views and good Ambience. There was a band tonight and even the band with the music was not very disruptive or very loud it was actually very entertaining
Been here before and had better service. Went there for a Saturday night out. Server was overwhelmed and commented several times on how tired she was because it was a long day. Had to ask for water and drink refills a few times, did not get the routine bread basket. There were four of us, 3 ordered soup and one salad. The soups came and long after had to ask where the salad was.. it came 2 minutes before the meal. Food was good, great location. Will go back again
The food and service was excellent and the views were amazing, too!
Waitress was outstanding
Kudos to Chef Brendan, Andrew, Peter and Sam's entire staff for providing carry-out / delivery service during the covid-19 pandemic. I ordered from their family dinner menu over the weekend. The food was delivered quickly and hot and was a welcome change from my usual frozen dinners.
Please support this community favorite -- they are being innovative and responsible in times of crisis. I, for one, plan on placing additional orders until they can open again. I hope you will do the same. They are being there for us and I hope we are there for them, too.
We were two couples and had a delightful evening with excellent food. The service couldn’t have been better. It is a great place for celebrating a special occasion or just a weekday evening out. We highly recommend it!
Dinner was fantastic. Everything was cook to perfection. One of the best restaurants I’ve been to in the DMV.
This is my second Valentine’s Day at Sam’s and it was fantastic!!! The food was delicious, the ambiance was perfect. I will go again and again!!! Oh and 2 single long stem roses to end the night... one for my wife and I.
We thoroughly enjoyed our evening at Sams on the Waterfront on Sat. 2/8. Melissa was our server and she was excellent in recommending appetizers while waiting for all guests to arrive and spacing an appropriate amount of time between courses and was efficient in getting drink orders since our guests did not all arrive at the same time. She answered all questions on the menu and was even able to customize a couple of things. We will definitely come back.
Rude guests / way too noisy. Should increase prices
This was our first visit to Sam's on the Waterfront, and it was a great first visit. The food was good, the waitress was great and we enjoyed ourselves. We will go back in the spring or summer, when we can sit outside and enjoy the surroundings.
enjoyed the seasonal change of menu offerings. the fried chicken is delicious and ample, and, will see me through the winter!
Food, service and atmosphere were great. Loved the fried deviled eggs! I can’t stop talking about them.
Love the view very romantic perfect for dates
Food was delicious
Staff was very friendly and knowledge
Beautiful setting. Disinterested server. Main dishes, one very bland, one overcooked. Dessert tasted like frozen pie.
Low quality food - Very expensive bill . NEVER AGAIN
Great and attentive service staff. Delicious food. Up to the rim mimosas. Only strange thing was restaurant was vacant yet they sat people directly next to us.
The food was very good. A lot of different choices for our party of six. Our waitress was very attentive, without being on top of us. It is nice to go to brunch and have the option of lunch or dinner, and to leave full and satisfied. And the view was amazing!
Had a great dinning experience here. Took my wife for our anniversary. The view is beautiful, the food tasted great, and the service was excellent. It was just a little bit pricey but still had a great time here!
A beautiful venue. The food is consistently good. Unfortunately, the live music was way too loud and not very good. it was overpowering in such a small setting.
Went there for lunch, wife had rockfish and I had crab stuffed shrimp, the food was delicious, very pleased.
Service was outstanding, our server took very good care of us.
There is not a bad seat, there is a good view of the inlet from anywhere in the restaurant.
Noise level is really loud!, very difficult to have a conversation. The restaurant had two large groups while we were there, large groups are always noisy. There are hard surfaces every where, no noise abatement.
This was our first time there, we will g back.
Great place for a nice dinner away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Sam's on the Waterfront is in a beautiful setting. Not only do you have access to the water, but the many boats docked in the marina are on full display. The real issues are the food and service. The food is very average and not particularly good. If they were going for casual, but good I wouldn't have any issue. I had the tacos and my guest had the rockfish. Neither was appetizing. We started with calamari, that was good, but nothing spectacular. The server was confused. He told me I could order a certain martini, then came back and said they didn't make that drink. Overall not worth the money.
I asked for rare n the Salmon and they actually did it on a nice thick slice. Hooray. The Rockfish grilled was really the only disappointment. OK but kind of ordinary.
Risotto delicious. Vegetables cooked just right.
The view on the waterfront is nice but really up close on the boats so not spectacular.
I have always enjoyed Sam's, particularly outside. But the weather was not optimal for brunch so we opted for a table near a window. Dirty windows, dirty and a bit spacey server, nobody in the bloody place! Not a good sign. My Chesapeake poached eggs were good, but my friend's dirty hash was not good at all but she didn't want to complain. She did tell the server at the end, but there was no response. Won't be going inside again but will stick with their outside bar area for happy hour - which I loved this summer - ambiance, service, food and drink were all splendid outside.
Love Sams and will be back. Waiter was inattentive after food first came out, never came back to check on drinks.
A lovely meal outside on the water. Our pup enjoyed too! Be sure to get the scallops appetizer. Delish!
The service was not good! The server was busy and we understood, however she was not attentive at all. We had to ask for a togo box and drinks several times. The manager was nonexistent. He did not do table visits and did not help the front of the house. For my second time time eating here, super disappointed in the overall service.
Food was excellent. Service was slow even though restaurant was not busy. Overall very good.
Great ambiance...fantastic crab benedict....wonderful fun waitress......good time had by all
We asked for a table by the window and were told no. There was only 1 other table occupied in the restaurant while we were there. The hostess was not friendly and, when we had a problem with our bill, the manager was equally rude. Food was good but not worth putting up with all the other stuff. We won’t be back.
