Sam's of Gedney Way Ratings and Reviews
There were four of us for a weekday lunch. We were seated promptly; the service was excellent. The menu had a nice selection of choices. One of us asked to customize one of the specials, which was done as requested with no fuss at all. The restaurant was not crowded and the noise level was very low which made it very pleasant and easy to have a conversation.
I am a frequent visitor of Sam's on Gedney Way and love the food, the service and the atmosphere. I live in Somers but do not mind the drive to White Plains because I know I will always be happy with my meal. Thoroughly enjoyed the "beet" theme for Restaurant Week and enjoyed the whole lunch, especially the pumpkin cheesecake for dessert!!!
Come to Sam's often and have reviewed before, always positively - which is why my group keeps coming back to Sam's. Wait staff always so pleasant and never rush us out. I meet OLD friends from different locations and we stay awhile to catch up on each others lives.
Haven't been there in years. Decided to go with a friend. We had wine, squash soup which was bland, lobster bisque which was so so and we each had "shrimp scampi". I guess we both didn't realize it was with pesto over linguine (who ever heard of that anyway) and my friends dish was swimming in pesto that she only ate the 6 medium size shrimp for $24 each. It really had minimal taste and we were sorry we ordered it. The best was the dessert. Service was fair as the waiter I believe came only once to see how we were. Maybe their lunch is better but this dinner for $99 was really a bust!
I absolutely L-O-V-E Sam's of Gedney Way! The food is delicious...the price is reasonable...the location is fantastic...but, what separates Sam's "great" from another's "good" is the staff. Julie was our server and she was friendly, courteous, and professional!
I suggested this place for brunch for a lunch date on Sunday. The brunch is simply delicious and for reasonable price, includes A classic mimosa or other. My date loved it, he had heard about it for a long time and had never been here. Great value and delicious with excellent service.
Instead of the steak wrap we ordered chicken wrap and it was absolutely delicious. The service was wonderful, everyone was friendly, smiling and an absolute pleasure. We ate in the screened porch area and it was a delightful experience. We would not hesitate to tell friends to try it, although I know it has been in White Plains for years, it was new to me and I've been back twice since being introduced to the restaurant three weeks ago.
We ate outside under Sam's canopy and had the room almost exclusively to ourselves. The waiter was attentive, the service was fast and the food was excellent. We frequent Sam's as it's one of our favorite places to relax and enjoy easy conversation while dining outdoors. It's a bit was frenetic and noisy inside.
Actually, everything was great...the food, the service, the ambiance. The reason why I can't give this restaurant a better overall rating is that, despite specifically asking for a decaf espresso and despite a decaf espresso was on the bill, we were not given a decaf, proven by my husband's inability to sleep all night. He doesn't have caffeine past 5pm. Whoever is in charge of this should know that a mistake like that can make a customer extremely unhappy.
We were the first guests there for a Saturday brunch. Very quiet and spacious. Service was Great! The menu for brunch was quite limited. The starters didn't really stand out to anyone in my party. The bread basket was yummy and our food came out quickly. I was unimpressed by my lobster roll, but others in my party really enjoyed their meals. $8 for unlimited drinks. The Bellini left me underwhelmed.
Overall, food was mediocre at best. We were a party of six, one of us ordered a burger medium which arrived almost raw, BBQ ribs were over cooked and dry (how does that happen to ribs?) and I am on a low salt diet and requested steak with no salt, nothing added and it arrived drowning in salted butter? The waiter insisted that no salt was added, just butter!
It was our first time there and we won't we going back.
