Good restaurant, good food. Ok atmosphere. A lot of options.
We went with family to celebrate two landmark birthdays. The food was very good, and we were able to relax and enjoy each other's company for several hours. Much recommended.
The food is delicious, but I really wish there were a way to have the cauliflower on the appetizer menu. Not enough protein for a main dish, but I'd love to have some before I have fish or a hamburger.
Reliably good. A restaurant which never disappoints. There is something on the menu for everyone and often plenty left over to take home. One of my very favorite places in the area.
First time there, looking forward to going back. The food was delicious and creative. The staff was attentive and friendly.
Wonderful meal, beautifully presented! Quiet ambiance, ideal for conversations with friends. Nicely decorated, attentive service from our waiter. Awesome dessert to celebrate my husband's birthday! We have been there many times before and have always enjoyed our meal. It's a great place to go with another couple because it is always quiet. Being able to talk with friends without shouting across the table is one of the reasons I enjoy going to this restaurant.
I have been eating at Sam's for many years. It is a great place to meet friends from both sides of the county right in the middle. The portions are very generous and both my wife and I took home leftovers. (My prime rib was humongous!)
Many thanks! Four friends met for a long overdue catch up brunch. Waitress readily agreed to our request to sit in a quiet location. Wait staff was friendly, professional and attentive.
Besides the varied items on the brunch menu, complimentary Bloody Mary, Mimosa or Bellini were factors in choosing Sam's.
As always, food was delicious - custard battered brioche stuffed with cinnamon apples and cream, Gedney salad with marinated steak and green goddess dressing, turkey Brie burger, and The Total Package omelet were dee-lcious.
Did we need the Salted Caramel Ring Ding? No, but it helped push down the tasty cappuccinos and coffee.
The ambiance of the restaurant was very nice but the food was lukewarm and soggy. The service was also rather poor. Perhaps it was an off night for the restaurant.
Delicious sandwiches. Fairly quiet - perfect for a business lunch. Populated and lively without being too loud.
Service was great- not pushy and gave us ample time to talk. Easy to share dishes. Wine is inexpensive.
The special New Year's Eve menu was more limited than the usual menu but still provided lots of good choices. The red snapper and filet mignon dishes were delicious and despite a full house the setting still allowed for normal conversation without a lot of background noise.
We've been going to Sam's for years and there have been a couple of times that we were not thrilled with it. This time we sat away from the main dining area and the food was very good. The service was better then some of the other times. Overall, it was a very nice lunch and we will go there again.
Always dependable for a tasty meal. Always personable servers.
A great neighborhood spot, have been going for over 25 years.
This is one of our dependable restaurants. You can always expect a good meal with professional service. It's a pleasure to dine here.
Food is always good but they need more specials/diversity. Service is also good.
We go to Sam’s every Christmas Eve. Unfortunately this time around the meal was less than adequate. The prime rib had no flavor, fish was dry and even the hamburger was only average. I’m not sure what happened as usually the food is excellent. The manager saw that we didn’t finish our food and comped our desserts voluntarily. I feel bad even writing this because we love this place and the service and ambiance are always excellent.
Sam's is always reliable and doesn't disappoint. Our server, Ron, is the best at being helpful and attentive without being intrusive.
This was our first time at Sam's of Gedney Way and it most certainly will not be our last. The restaurant is cozy and inviting and the menu choices cover everyone's taste and food preferences. All of the food that my family and I ordered was delicious and beautifully prepared but the thing that stood out most for us was the hospitality. From the manager to the wait staff to the chef.....EVERYONE made us feel so welcomed. There are good restaurants everywhere but Sam's of Gedney Way is a good restaurant that knows how to treat their guests.....and that's a rare find.
Thank you all at Sam's of Gedney Way for a beautiful experience.
My friends enjoyed the menu, and loved what they had. Desserts were different and absolutely delicious. The Christmas decorations were festive and added to our enjoyable lunch. Sam’s is a favorite for us.
started out very good, was greeted and seated with a friendly host. It wine Wednesday which was plus. Wasn't overly hungry so just got wine and apps. Then the waitress disappeared. We waited for about 20 minutes before we had to flag the manager to get the bill, all the tables next to us had to do the same thing.
Service was excellent. Choices and food was very good. Would have rated higher had my special omelet not been served cold.
I've been here several times and am always happy. Menu is good as well as the food. The noise level is low which is great. So many restaurants are so noisy these days. Also convenient parking.
We had to wait an unacceptable amount of time for our meals - with only 2-3 tables there and we had to remind the waitress that we still had no food as she was walking by. Then things were forgotten on our order and we had to again wait. The half apologize was not what we had expected being that we have been frequenting the restaurant for almost 30 years.
There was a very loud and rude table of women that made it almost impossible for us to even speak ourselves- we are aware is not the fault of the restaurant.
You always know what you are getting at Sam's. Sometimes, the service is too fast, sometimes not fast enough, but the food is always as expected - good, a little interesting, something for everyone. Local go-to place.
Food is consistently good but the waitstaff is consistently mediocre.
Menu choices for everyone. pleasant staff. free parking.
There were four of us for a weekday lunch. We were seated promptly; the service was excellent. The menu had a nice selection of choices. One of us asked to customize one of the specials, which was done as requested with no fuss at all. The restaurant was not crowded and the noise level was very low which made it very pleasant and easy to have a conversation.
Loved the salmon salad and of course the cannolis were awesome.
a fine restaurant..food was very good and the service was excellent.
very nice restaurant week menu had a nice time and really enjoyed it
We went during Restaurant Week. Good food, great value for the price.
Very tasty offerings for restaurant week! Had a lovely meal and great service!
Only a block away from where we live. good food, well prepared, and we enjoy it. Go here often Years as a matter of fact. Great neighbor restaurant. Varied menu. Specials almost every night.
Food we mediocre, it was empty for brunch on a sunday at prime time, service was awkward. There has to be something better for the price, which wasn't insane, but also much greater than the value.
The place was loud, service not great, steak not impressive. Overall I find this place to be overpriced. It’s very loud, crowded, servers kept on numbing into my chair. This is even though my reservation requested an out of the way table.
such a pleasant surprise. The food was great. Presentation also very nice. HVRW menu was a true bargain and value . My daughter had a hamburger that she raved about. All in all a place to return to
Always reliable and consistently good. Have been coming here for 25 years. My fave is always their burger but someone with us loved her shrimp. Easy access and great parking.
