The menu looked like it was going to be really good, but turned out to be underwhelming. Fairly bland tasting cod with samphire, which was woody and unpleasant, together with a runny pea purée. We struggled to get served a drink after our first and were served our main before the bread and olives had been removed. Overall a sense that staff were trying to get us out so that they could seat the next cover. Very disappointing and not particularly cheap. Wouldn't bother going back.

Had a great meal out at Samphire on Saturday night. Very popular, so need to pre-book well in advance. Really attentive waiting staff - were made to feel very special. Would definately recommend this place. Great food and great ambiance and good value.

My fiancé and I went there two nights before our wedding, to enjoy a night together and we'd been told the food and ambience were good. Our friends were right. The food could not be faulted, and although it's not cheap, it is worth the money you pay. The waitresses that evening were very friendly and attentive. A lovely, lovely evening.

Thoroughly enjoyed our meals. I had line caught cod. It was the most whitest and succulent piece of fish I have ever had. Will definitely go back again when next in Whitstable.

Very cosy, reasonably priced and the staff are very friendly and do great service with a smile. The food is lovely and varied so there is something for everyone. The restaurant is very pretty and takes on different feels throughout the day eg breakfast - laid back & relaxed, lunch - hip & happening, evening - buzzy yet intimate & cosy. I love love love this place.

Really enjoyed. Food fabulous and also very child friendly which is great when you are travelling with a child and wanting to have a really interesting meal. Level of service very good. Interesting menu.

The food was fresh and tasty. Nice wine. Relaxed atmosphere. I booked for four and one couple arrived first, a bit early, and got themselves drinks, followed by myself, I joined the table 2.45pm and waited a while to be asked if i wanted a drink. So I had to get someone's attention in the end. But a minor point. Would go again. Hardly any places that serve after 2pm however this places does. Once ordered food came promptly. We were not rushed. Also chose this place as my husband is not a big fan of fish or seafood (except traditional fish and chips) but here there were a couple of meat options here. Have been before for lunch and enjoyed it. The evening menu looks really nice.

I like lunch at Samphire. Small and simple. I took a guest for dinner recently and was rather disappointed with overcooked plaice and a waitress who twice asked us "I'm sorry to interrupt but is everything alright?" Quite good you may say but she said this in the manner of a school inspectress! I was too scared to say anything other than 'Fine' which it was but not quite fine enough.

I have dined here twice and had brunch once and each time the food has been great. Good ingredients, cooked to perfection. The presentation is also very good and the waitresses have always been helpful and friendly. Each time I have had freshly cooked fish which has been of the highest quality with a good selection of vegetables. The homemade lemon posset with shortbread and fruit looked gorgeous was tasted wonderful too! The restaurant itself is pretty and has a homely decor and warm ambience. They also stock great wines.
