We go there regularly. Steve is great as well as all the staff. Miss seeing Nick and Lisa
Always a good meal and fun at Sammy’s
Exceptional restaurant. We had dinner with a cousin before a show. The table was ready when we arrived and the staff made sure we would make our show time. Food was obviously made to order and was excellent. Renee was waitress and was great.
We are from out of town, and our first time here but expect not our last. We were all very impressed with our meal and even returned after the show for coffee and dessert with the same great service.
The food was exceptional, fresh, very authentic Italian. I would go back and recommend this place to my friends. Good prices and nice ambiance. All together a good evening.
Great Italian food. Every appetizer, pasta and entree dish were very good. Quite popular and noisy. Not for a romantic evening. A little on the pricier side.
Food was excellent. Service was excellent. Great recommendations from our server...I am sorry I do not remember her name. Overall, we had a very enjoyable evening. Well done.
Delicious food & warm atmosphere! Service was very hospitable and friendly. The menu was very appealing. Can’t wait to go back and try other dishes.
Another wonderful pre-Baltimore Symphony concert meal. Not sure why we never ordered this before, but the Prosciutto Bruschetta was a real treat, and the rest of the meal was filled with some of our favorites (the Risotto Renee and the Seafood Fra Diavolo). Sammy's is one of our favorites in the Mount Vernon area.
Went before a show at The Lyric and they had us in and out with plenty of time for the show. Food was amazing and the portion sizes were perfect.
Terrific! Always welcomed like a friend in your home. Good food n always served hot. No complaints at all.
Overall, positive experience. Food was very good. The server had too many tables but did the best he could (that is, the service was s-l-o-w. Over two hours for dinner on a Sunday night).
2/16/18 Another great performance by Sammy & Matr'D Steve,
We had tickets for a show at the Lyric Center. Looked online for a restaurant. What a find. Wonderful Italian food. We highly recommend Sammy’s.
The food was fantastic and the service was great as always. Our guest said they would definitely be back!
Always happy when we leave Sammy’s! Great food, great people, great price!
We knew we were in good company when Jason Isbell's opening act showed up at the bar to pick up food. (and have a drink) Then some of HIS band showed up.
Fantastic food of all varieties -- we argued about whose taste was the best. all different. All Superb. We visit here and Sammy's Enoteca and always love the wines and food. Just always too full for desserts....
I work in academics and a great place bring prospective faculty -- can hear to talk.
Great place. One of the best restaurants in Baltimore.
We enjoy dining at Sammy's for both their food and proximity to the Meyerhoff. Although our last visit was disappointing (food was below par) our experience was much improved this time. The Squid Ink Paste and Seafood Fra Diavolo were excellent! Service was somewhat confused and lacking.
Great food and service!!!
Entire experience was
rvice. Can't wait to return!!
Wonderful food as always.
This is a wonderful spot to go especially if you are going to a show/concert at the Meyerhoff. Nice neighborhood restaurant with good food. The staff are all very welcoming and helpful.
The cutlery and glasses were greasy and the bread plate was chipped. The food presentation was sloppy.
Wait to be seated was 15 minutes with a reservation. Server got order incorrect. No apologies.
The food here is absolutely delicious. Start with valet parking. Friendly personnel. Cannoli is the best I have ever had. Convient to The Lyric and The Meyerhof. Our favorite restaurant.
Sammy' s is one of our favorite restaurants; however, tonight was a disappointment! The restaurant was empty, yet they sat us in the basement where they were hosting a party of 25......unbelievably noisy and awkward! The food was blah.....pasta dry and mushy, coffee cold. Whatever is going on.....FIX IT!!
We had a 6:30 reservation and were seated right away. Our salad was served quickly. The pasta dish we ordered wasn’t served until 7:20 and it wasn’t the right dish. When the waiter finally came over we told him that we had symphony tickets for 8:00. He said he would check with the kitchen about getting the correct dinner. He came back and told us it would take another 30 minutes. This would make us late so we asked for the check. He told us that he wouldn’t charge us for anything. There was no apology or attempt to get us a meal that would take less time to cook. We also told the host but he didn’t offer a solution either. We chose this restaurant because it was in close proximity to the symphony hall. We won’t be going there again.
Great place. Loved the food and was treated well by everyone from the greeter to the waiter.
First visit in a few years.Service, drinks and food were very good. Also, the servers make sure we were able to get to the symphony on time without being rushed.Intend to visit again soon.
Best food & best people!!
We chose Sammy's to celebrate my husbands birthday with most of our family members . As always, it was phenomenal! Thank you for the delicious food, great staff and overall pleasant experience!
The food was great and the service was good. Sitting on the mezzanine is not the greatest experience. I doesn’t look that great up there and the service always requires prodding but when asked, they deliver quickly. They did not bring the pasta side with my veal and I never bothered to have them chase it down. No pepper on the table but it wouldn’t matter at all if they offered it. This is the kind of stuff that never happens downstairs. I will be back again repeatedly I am certain. I’ll just make sure I am not sitting upstairs.
Celebrating my son's 13th birthday with 5 friends - sat downstairs for the first time and it was great. Our server, Josh, was wonderful and accommodating a usual. Food very good.
Great food, service & atmosphere in Baltimore City
It's probably been 6 years since our last visit to Sammy's and it will probably be another 6 years before we go back. They are in a prime location for serving the Meyerhoff crowd and yet in all these years it has still not cracked the code for efficiently get food out of the kitchen and on to tables. We did not order appetizers, just main courses and we waited 45 minutes for our meals. It was quite frustrating as we watched diners arrive, order, and get their appetizers and meals before us. The food that arrived was hot, but not remarkable. P.S. The thermostat on the wall above our table was absolutely filthy.
We were treated like old friends from the moment we pulled up to their valet parking.
The host greeted me by name, as If I were a weekly regular. NIce table, great waitstaff, drinks, food, and wine all above the ordinary. Will go back again.....and again.
It was an excellent evening of great food and with a good friend.
We always have a great time. Will go back again and again and again.
Food and service are always consistently good. We try to go there at least once a month.
Given the expanding dining scene in Baltimore there are some improvements that can be made for Sammy’s to be a bit more appealing and competitive within the market. We switched some silverware with an unoccupied adjacent table due to some residue on our utensils, a water glass we were given had a large crack, and our appetizer was served in a chipped plate.
The freshly baked bread and seasoned oil for dipping was delicious, but unfortunately was the highlight of the meal as far as quality ingredients.
The pasta included with the spaghetti and meatballs was not fresh, homemade but rather pre-made. Where many newer establishments me their postal daily, doing the same at Sammy’s would be a step in the right direction.
To their credit, all portions were enormous and you will not leave hungry.
