The Julia Salad
Spinach Dough | Tender Duck | Wild Mushrooms | Brown Butter | Sage
Judge Sweeney's Pappardelle alla Bolognese
Wild Boar | Veal | Pork | Pappardelle
I really wanted to love it - the restaurant was so cute but being the only table there on a Sunday at 7pm should have been a clue. All of the flavors were there but the food was in a word “wet”. The antipasto had to much vinegar, the salad had too much dressing, the pesto pasta was swimming in oil. The duck in the ravioli and the chicken were both over cooked. The tiramisu was soaked with so much coffee that the cake part was just mush. The best thing there and it was VERY good, was the dipping sauce they bring for the bread. The rest of the meal was such a let down
Best Italian restaurant in all of baltimore
Great Italian food
Nice restaurant within walking distance
The food was amazing!!!!
Forget Little Italy, great value for great food!
It was nice to see the restaurant full, but the lack of staff was evident. The servers were trying as best as they could to be attentive and expedient, but there were just too many patrons (people are tired of being cooped up, so are out an about much more recently). The food and wine was very good, and we plan to go back.
They did not have our reservation???
It's the best Italian food in the City! Renee and the rest of the wait staff are amazing.
we chose Sammy's because my wife was craving pasta and it was well reviewed and walkable. boy am i happy we did-and so was she. all Covid precautions being observed here. quickly seated by personable hostess. as we made our way through the front dining area to a table that turned out to be in the upper level looking down on the main floor, we passed two "tables" set for a party of 44!!! turned out to be a rehearsal dinner for a wedding. from experience we knew we better make our selections quickly as to avoid delays. chose to start with tomato bruschetta served on grilled bread which we really enjoyed. tomatoes really sweet and seasoned perfectly. while we enjoyed this the large party started to drift into the bar. wife went for her tried & true favorite, bolognese. sauce was served over pappardelle noodles and made with pork, veal, and wild boar. i chose the cappellini ala lula-angel hair, lemon garlic sauce, shrimp, artichoke, mushrooms, and spinach. as we waited for our entrees, the large party was all here and seated at the tables directly below us. the noise level picked up considerably as we expected it would. but not to an unpleasant level. fun watching the folks enjoy themselves.
both of our entrees were very delicious. pasta's were cooked perfectly, the bolognese was rich & deeply flavorful. my sauce was a perfect compliment to the shrimp and the vegetables. around this time we felt a definite change in the level of attention to us and others in the upper level, as expected. things slowed down noticeably. diners waiting for server to inquire about our level of enjoyment, if we needed anything, dessert orders, checks, etc. eventually i was able to order the tiramisu which was much lighter than most and full of flavor. the wait to receive it was lengthy as was the wait for a check and it's return. all understandable but unfortunate for us while the large party was given the needed service.
the meal was outstanding and we would return without hesitation.
Great.,.. we eat at Sammys on a regular basis. Never disappointed!
This place is a hidden gem. The food was outstanding...some of the best Italian food in the city (and yes, that includes Little Italy). From the warm homemade bread to the tasty entrees, this place was outstanding. The service was a bit disorganized and little slow but the great food overshadowed it. Highly recommended.
Sammy’s has recently become our new go to in the neighborhood.
Family and friends visiting
The food was uniformly above par for reasonable prices. Although we ate outside, I was concerned how close the tables were to each other inside. Otherwise it was a great experience.
Great food and great service! Thanks to Steve and Carly for a great night out!
Food is awesome, and the servers are very friendly. We love this cozy place.
Although this restaurant cancelled our Christmas Eve carry out catering order on 12/23, after previously accepting the order, we decided to eat there in person. We were made to wait for 25 minutes after our reservation time, and they offered a 2 person table jammed between 2 other tables for our party of three. The upstairs and downstairs dining areas were not being utilized. The host was very understanding when we said we weren't comfortable sitting on top of each other and so close to other tables. He offered to ask management if he could seat us at the unused areas. While he was doing that, a party of 4 with a Reservation 15 minutes after ours was seated at the next available table. We left. The gracious host found us outside to apologize and to let us know that he did try to seat us elsewhere, but the management would not let him do that. Thirty minutes, no table, and horrible treatment by the management again. Baltimore has much better restaurants with managements who care about their patrons, and I will never spend a dime at this restaurant in the future.
This is a wonderful restaurant with reasonable menu prices. My husband and I went for a date, and the wine and food was delicious! The kitchen is open and you can tell they make everything from scratch! Will definitely be visiting again!
Horrible experience. I booked an outdoor reservation. I showed up and after waiting in a crowded entryway with people not even wearing masks for FORTY FIVE minutes, I was told there is no outside. They were not honoring reservations - were just letting anyone in and seating them and ignoring the fact that some people pre-booked a spot.
There was no hostess. Worse of all, the restaurant was illegally operating at 100% capacity, putting everyone inside at risk.
I will never come back here and hope they address these issues.
they did not ask for reservation info and we waited 20 minutes to even get inside the food was amazing but they were short staffed so we had about 3 different people helping us .
V-Day dinner was absolutely delicious and the starter bread and olive oil parmesan dressing was the best! My boyfriend went to college not too far from the restaurant but said he never knew of it. We both were delighted we took a chance on eating at a new restaurant for Valentines Day! We most definitely plan to return!!
Food was great, nice environment. Would definitely come again
My fiancee and I went there for Valentine's Day, thinking we will be wowed by the food based on the reviews. Instead, the food was mediocre -- my fiancee's duck ravioli was bathed in olive oil, much like an episode of Kitchen Nightmares. My spaghetti carbonara was OK, quite mediocre I would say. My fiancee had made paste carbonara a few months ago and we both laughed that hers was better. The bread, salad, and the appetizers were pretty good, and salvaged the overall food experience. Portions were generous. My fiancee got an espresso martini and it was good, pretty strong. At the end, one of the servers took the card to charge it and forgot where she left it, then ran around the entire restaurant looking for it for about 7-8 minutes. Overall, this restaurant is OK, nothing to write home about.
Staff were so attentive and sweet! Food was delicious. True authentic Italian cuisine. Cannot wait to go back!
We really enjoyed our meals and will definitely be back soon.
We had a wonderful time and was so nice to be back at a restaurant again. The staff was so friendly and the food was delicious. We had a amazing time!
Food was delicious and the entire staff was helpful and made us feel very welcome.
Amazing food! Lovely service! Great Bread! Will return soon!
The restaurant was excellent and it was some of the best Italian food I ever had. It also had a nice, friendly ambience.
We have been Sammy's customers for several years. They give Little Italy a run for their money. In fact, they are better than most LI restaurants. We love all the restaurant people and the atmosphere. Can't wait for the Myerhoff to open so we can go back on a more regular basis. Try the Gnocchis with sage butter sauce, Wonderful! And the bartender, Paula, makes a great Negroni!
A wonderful meal out with great service and excellent food. We enjoyed our meal outside on the patio. Definitely felt safe with social distancing. We look forward to coming back soon!
Always Great. Dining experience and wait staff are phenominal.
There is never a bad meal at Sammys. The food is fantastic.
The staff delightful ! Wonderful neighbor restaurants..
We celebrated a family birthday party here on Friday, 10/02. Everything about the experience was outstanding. The service was warm and prompt but never pushy. The food was outstanding. Everyone was smiling, laughing and having a great time, including the staff. It was like having a meal at my Grandmother's house, which is a huge compliment. If you are looking for the best Italian food in town, warm service, and a memorable evening, you should skip the Little Italy tourists and dine here!
Sammy's is always great! Go often and enjoy.
Sammy's is a great local restaurant. Friendly staff, and great value for what you get. Highly recommend.
Wonderful! Best Italian restaurant in Baltimore. We will be back many times.
The food and service were great!! The staff made my granddaughter’s 8th birthday very special
