Mother’s Day craziness. They actually didn’t accept this reservation. Host was very busy and a bit inappropriate but patrons were acting like idiots . If they weren’t accepting reservations then they should have not made open table available. Server was great , food was good.

I visited this restaurant a few years ago; the food was good. Last evening myself and husband went for dinner. What a disappointment! I will never go back and may not to any restaurant in City Island as I feel they are all probably the same after COVID. The ambiance and welcoming host are pathetic. There were flies all over the tables. The big clumsy bread was not sliced and the knife was no help. The vegetables appear to be recycled - dry with black blotches and the celery was yellow. Their salad lacks freshness and served with a dressing out of a supermarket bottle in a takeout container - no effort or creativity by the kitchen staff. The coconut shrimp (4) was dried, hard, refried and expensive - $23 - the sauce was blah! Here comes the dinner plates - the seafood were all dried, tasteless and overcooked served over oily, yellow rice with lots of big chunky onions and green peppers. My husband had pasta and shrimp served with a tasteless sauce. The drinks are expensive and lacks taste and flavor. All the staff appears not to be enthusiastic about their role - what happened to the days when restaurant staff are properly attired, pleasant and friendly. Unless management take a detailed look at their business plan, this is the end of the road for the restaurant business.

FYI, the menu on OpenTable is out of date. All prices have basically doubled. Service was poor - food came without sides, the waiter was nowhere to be found and then when the sides finally came the food was cold. Bread was not delivered to the table until after we asked for it and we’re halfway through our food.

Portions are generous and the staff is attentive. The value for what you get is really there, especially with the feasts for 2, which should be 2+++. We chose the paella version with tons of shellfish, crab, lobster, the works.

The waiter, Carmine, was absolutely amazing. The food came out beyond quickly on what is I am sure one of their busiest days of the year. Would recommend to anyone who likes seafood.

Food was ok, service was mediocre. Had to ask the waiter for something 3-4 times before it was done. Waited 15 minutes after being seated just for our server to come over to us.

Service was pretty slow, they sat us immediately; however, we had to wait over 30 min for our entree. After the long await, I found a hair tangled in the shrimps bread crum... I was heartbroken. I spoke to the manager and he gracefully comped the entre. In all the years that I have been going to Sammy’s this was the first time that has happened so I will let this one slide. Nonetheless, I was very disappointed and so was my husband.

The waitstaff was excellent, but the food wasn’t up to par. It was apparently an off night for the restaurant. We will give them a time out for a while.

Sammy’s Shrimp box is my favorite seafood restaurant.. I frequent here quite often, often enough to know the table# where I sit so I can request it every time! I love the seafood, it is fresh and flavorful and prepared to perfection EVERY TIME!! The servers are personable and on point and very catering. I love Sammy’s and I recommend the Lobster & Crab Feast for 2 to get a taste of everything for a very affordable price ( I get it just for myself, but I’m greedy) Enjoy!

We decided to go out for a last minute dinner and we chose Sammy’s for convenience and reliability. We were not disappointed. We had a lovely waitress who was very attentive and we thoroughly our meal and each other’s company. I always recommend Sammy’s.

I reserved two tables whichever sammy’s didn’t realize. When I told them they quickly changed our table to accommodate all of my guests. My waiter (whose name I can’t remember) was amazing as well.
