Have been to this restaurant (as well as Rosie's) many times and always enjoy it. Food is very good, ambiance is nice and staff are generally congenial and efficient. This past visit was way off...the minute we sat down, the waiter descended upon us for our menu choices. We hadn't even picked up our menus. He must have come over 5 more times within 7 minutes til we finally felt obligated to make our choices. After ordering, the food appeared in approximately 10 minutes, as if it was already prepared and ready to go....It was good, the serving ample, but we barely had time to enjoy our cocktails. Wait staff continued to buzz around the table to clear everything off, even before we were done. Although, the staff was pleasant, they appeared to be under some type of orders to move us along quickly. The check was placed on our table as we were halfway through dessert. Very rude!...at 9:30 we were advised that the kitchen was now closed and so was restaurant.... in order words....please leave! Not the treatment I expect from this type of establishment. I'm sure the wait staff was reacting to management orders to evacuate quickly so they can close early. Closing time is listed as 10PM!!
Lots of other choices in the area, so I think I steer clear of this one for awhile....
The menu choices were excellent, the atmosphere was conducive to a romantic evening out and it was quiet enough for conversation without feeling like background noise was interfering. This is sometimes a problem in restaurants that are well attended. Service was exceptional.
Service was very slow on a Wednesday evening. Waited forever to order.
First time eating here, met up with my brother and brought my 9 year old son. We shared the shrimp risotto appetizer, it was a special. Great flavor and texture. We then had the pork chop(cooked perfectly) , fish special(delicate) , and bouillabaise(wonderful flavor) , everything was cooked and seasoned to perfection. Staff was attentive and was not over priced in my opinion. My son is already asking to go back. 2 thumbs up!
One of the best restaurants in Westchester... from the warm greeting to the great food and service it’s my go to when I want comfort food. Menu is excellent and there are daily specials. The bread is outstanding but don’t eat too much as the portions are healthy and the flavors delectable. I’ve never had a bad meal in all the years of going there. Make a reservation as it has many loyal patrons.
As always our dining experience was wonderful.
Our server was very friendly, attentive and knowledgeable
Excellent restaurant in every way. The only concern we had was the feeling of being
rushed through meal by constant checking by bus boys.
Good food - good service - best bread - calamari was crispy, light - salmon was delicious -lobster ravioli was tasty - enjoyable experience by all
Good and reliable eating establishment with excellent service...
We enjoyed ourselves but have two rather serious concerns. They list Acacia Chardonnay for $42 on the menu, but then serve "A"by Acacia, Acacia's off price brand. I brought it to the waitress' attention but she insisted that this was the Acacia they serve. Sorry!!! I buy the "A" by Acacia for $8.50 and although we like it, it is fraudulent to serve this wine as the Top brand Acacia wine which we really enjoy and is superior to the off priced version. I mean these guys must be idiots if they think they can get away with this. ( or maybe not ; maybe they think no one will notice)
Secondly, they serve a chicken dish that is advertised as having shallots and a Caprese topping. There were no shallots in the dish and the Caprese was served as about inelegantly as possible in huge chunks of cheese and tomatoes. Sorry again. I have never seen Caprese served with less thoughtfulness.
This is a very nice restaurant in one of the wealthiest Towns in Westchester. Time to get your act together.
As a manager, I chose to take me team of employees to Sammy's due to a recommendation that I received through a client. Once I arrived, my team and I immediately noticed the cozy establishment, dim-lighted, and tastefully decorated. Aside from the amazing energy we felt because of its' great location, the food was OUTSTANDING! With every appetizer we order, one tasted better than the last. From the pate to the octopus - every bite was savory and artistically done. The drinks were made to perfection and I can still taste my mouth-water entrée - Veal Samantha! In addition, our waiter was very attentive and polite - he had a great charisma about him.
I look forward to coming back with my wife.
Best food, wine selection and service in the area.
Sammy never disappoints. Staff is friendly and the food always is consistent. The salmon is my favorite.
Was aware of the restaurant in the shopping area of Bronxville, but never went. Had a very enjoyable lunch experience and will return again. Food and service was outstanding!!
We celebrated our friend's 50th wedding anniversary and the food was spectacular!
Everyone loved it and we're planning to return ASAP!
amazing restaurant. Food never disappoints. Probably the best restaurant in Westchester!!!
My favorite restaurant in town. The food and service are always very good. Definitely a place to try.
Really enjoyed our evening at Sammy's, a nice menu with plenty of options. We started with two fabulous salads; grilled octopus and what they called a caprese salad with avocado, portobello mushrooms and grilled pear. Both were terrific. For entres, two at my table had pasta, one traditional with spaghetti and meatballs, and the other with different mushrooms and some chicken and I had the Veal Samantha, a play on Veal Milanese with a salad of tomatoes and mozzarella which was really tasty. The service however was not great. Our waiter took half of our order then said he needed to step away. He then went to another table, took their order, and then another table and didn't come back to us. After an extended period of time, I said that he still hadn't finished taking our order. He looked surprised but still said he had to come back. Finally after quite some time he took the rest of the tables order and left. I would say the entire process was in excess of 15 minutes. After he took our order he came back again to clarify one of the dishes saying he couldn't read his own hand writting! Much to my surprise everything came right. The busboy was terrific but I would not give the waiter a gold star. But even with the weak service, the evening was most enjoyable and I would surely go back to Sammy's Downtown Bistro again !
One of my favorites for a varied menu, delicious and beautifully prepared dishes served in a very comfortable atmosphere.
