Sambuca Grille Ratings and Reviews
I have gone to Sambuca many times, and it’s usually a good experience. This time, however, it was not. I had braised beef over risotto. The risotto was undercooked, and barely seasoned. I ate the beef, and when the waitress came back I told her about the risotto. Her response was unacceptable. She looked at me and said “well if that’s what you think, I’ll let the chef know.” Immediately after that the next table over from me had the exact same complaint, and she responded with “I’m so sorry! What else can I get you? I don’t want you to go hungry!” I was excited to go to sambuca for New Year’s Eve, but now I seriously doubt I will ever go back.
Have been here before and will go again. We had three different meals and all were great. One had pork masala one had chicken masala and one the tuna special. I would recommend any of these meals. The service is terrific. They are attentive without being obtrusive. It is also nice to be in a restaurant with a piano music. The piano player is very good and is interactive when called for.
We went here for a celebratory dinner after I completed medical treatment. The atmosphere was lovely--intimate seating with a gentleman playing piano and singing in the corner. Specials sounded amazing, and our dinners were brought to us quickly. Wait staff was attentive without hovering, and drinks were lovely. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
We needed a good restaurant prior to going to one of the Broadway in Scranton shows. This restaurant had good reviews and was a short walk to the theater. The food choices were great and both of us had specials of the evening. The prices were also very good for what we ordered.
We trusted user comments and are very happy to say they were accurate. This is now our go-to Italian restaurant in the area. The food, the service, and the ambiance are perfect for couples and friends alike. Thank you for giving us all such a pleasant experience at a fair price!
my husband and i including our friend had a wonderful time and the food was excellent and your family staff was more then gracious. We drove over 30 miles but the drive was worth it. Its so nice to see family generations working together. We will be back soon.
We are repeat customers of Sambuca’s. Great food, great staff (very attentive), great service. Their Italian cuisine is so delicious. My veal Parmigiana was cooked to perfection with homemade linguine, the sauce was very tasty. My wife had the red snapper that she loved, served with clams and mussels over linguine. The wine was good the beer was cold and always treated like family when we go. We will keep coming back again and again. We live in the Kingston area, but it is worth the drive to Scranton for great food and service.
The calamari appetizer was tiny rings and they were chewy, and not many, I had the tuna entire, asked for my tuna to b rare, it wasn't, the tuna and the vegetables were swimming in oil, my granddaughter had the linguine with clams, very salty and again, way too much oil. Entire meal was very pricey. We were celebrating my birthday', it was first time here, and we won't b back
Last week we spent the morning and early afternoon at Gettysburg viewing the battlefields and learning a bit of history. We were on our way back to Massachusetts from Virginia and by dusk we were near Scranton. We spied a motel near the airport and decided to spend the night there as we were still too far from home to reach it at a reasonable hour. What to do about dinner? We usually use Open Table for suggestions. After a few tries, we found a few nearby suggestions by searching for the Poconos instead of for a city. Sambuca Grille was the clear choice and we reserved a table for two.
After great cocktails we dove into dinner. My wife’s evening special of rare tuna was really great and my Cavatelli Salciccia was also fine. The service from the bartender and the servers was excellent and the general atmosphere of the establishment very nice. There was one serious flaw in the meal however. My calamari appetizer was badly overcooked – the chef should know that calamari must be fried very quickly on a very hot griddle otherwise it turns unappealingly rubbery. Nevertheless, Sambuca Grille was a good find and we recommend you try it.
This was our first visit to Sambuca Grille, we were in town for Parent's Weekend.
This is a family owned and run restaurant. Very authentic, welcoming, accommodating and just plain friendly. We really enjoyed speaking with the owner and learning this is a four generation establishment.
The food was quite good, with a varied menu and many daily specials. Everything was well prepared. We never felt rushed, and there was always someone nearby if we needed anything. Which in all honesty you probably won't. The portions are generous, and courses are set to an very comfortable rhythm.
My favorite Scranton spot. Starting from the greeting when you enter, to the service from the family throughout your entire meal, to the meal itself... the menu has all you need but is always supplemented by specials where each one sounds better than the next one. Food is very good and I always return to Sambuca Grille when I am in town.
Excellent! Food and service were top-notch. We were visiting in the area from out-of-town, and restaurant was only a short drive from our hotel along Route 81 -well worth it for an alternative to the fast food venues near the hotels. Will definitely return next time we are in the area!
