Samba Taste of Brazil Ratings and Reviews
This was our second visit to Samba. We met foodie friends from Minneapolis there. The father and son service was warm and friendly. One of our friends has been to Brazil a few times on business and the son was happy to recommend dishes that our friend rememberd. Everyone had a good meal. With appetizers, 4 meals, drinks and tip the bill was around $175; so not a cheap night out but we all plan to come back. Portions are larger so three of us left with food for lunch the next day.
First time there with a group of 8 people. Promptly prepared a table and seated us. Provided a quick round of drinks and then was very helpful in explaining the different items on the menu. Took quite a while to get the food but was well worth the wait as all eight said they would come again. Great ethnic experience in dining.
We celebrated an anniversary at Samba Taste of Brazil. All of us enjoyed it. My paella was excellent. The steak kabobs were amazing, but the chicken not as tasty. Appetizers were very good. Spicy sauce was very popular.
Our service was excellent. Very casual and quaint restaurant. We will definitely go back.
Ive been here a number of time and have never been disappointed. I have tried several items on the menu and recommend all but especially the paella. Great service, amazing wait staff, clean bathrooms, small grocery store attached for take home items. Nice to see variety in this little gem of a suburb.
Wonderful family run restaurant. My sister lives short term with a family in Brazil and has stated the food made in this restaurant is authentic. Stree food and home cooked alike. Warm and friendly staff. We have been here several times and the owner always checks on us if nor serving us himself.
Went for dinner before a movie. We were greeted nicely and promptly seated. The ambiance is simple and plain. There are many choices on the menu that are representative of meals typically seen in Brazil. Our server was attentive and courteous. Our food was fresh and very tasty. It is certainly worth a trip.
Table choice when we arrived for our reservation. ONLY problem was we chose the only outside table set up inside. All this meant was a tad less leg room but was perfectly comfortable.
Food choices are many and varied. I would suggest sticking to the traditional Brazilian food for a first visit. Food itself was very good. Not too much heat (though I love spicy food) and good portion size. We each had soup, a main, and desert. It was Valentine's Day so good food, good company, and awesome people watching made for a fun evening.
Bill was about what I expected (some of the plates could be shared, ask).
I would recommend as a nice Brazilian eatery in the western suburbs.
Everything started out okay... We were greeted and our name was crossed off of a notepad for our reservations. We were seated, drinks ordered and an appetizer on the way. Shortly there after, we placed our dinner order and enjoyed each others company. Food came in a timely manner, was rather delicious... but that's where the night turned south. Not once did anyone come to check on us from that point on. Our drinks were empty, plates were depleted, and there we sat...for 25 minutes... before someone checked on the table next to us (who had also been waiting) and we flagged them down to grab us a box and our check. Once the check came, another 10-12 minutes until they came to run the card.
I'd go again, but only because the food was good - they definitely need to work on staff to patron ratios.
We had a very nice time and an excellent dinner at Samba's. The servers were warm and friendly and attentive although service was on the slow side, we considered it might be due to short staffing as there were only two servers that we could see. No worries for us - we were enjoying an evening out with friends. The food was exceptional and very well priced. The wine list was not extensive but ample. The beer list was a bit anemic.
The waiter remembered us from the last time we were in. He knew what
we ordered and just ordered it again. Such a family atmosphere. We love Samba's.
My 21 year old son said he was hesitant about going the first time and then requested
we go back a week later. A millennial and baby boomers loving the same place!
Really good option for great authentic Brazilian food. Lots of family recipes on the menu. Both meals we ordered were excellent and above our expectations. This appears to be a family run place with the patriarch being a great character while the rest of the service staff were there to move plates and not very engaging. Brazil has lots to offer but that is not on display in the decor and the ambiance is too bright. Turn down the track light, turn on the cool chandelier and get some table candles. Maybe turn on some cultural music for background. We live only blocks away and have not stepped into Samba until now. On the Friday we were there most of the tables were full. Hopkins needs more dinning and Samba should be one of the spots on your regular list. The food was excellent and the menu should not be feared, there is something for everyone including pizza and burgers and kids. Go for the food and some legit Brazilian taste. We will go back for sure.
A favorite stop. The food is always excellent with many authentic Brazilian selections. The staff is mostly family and provides great service and conversation. Quite popular, so we usually get a reservation to make sure we get a table. Ooohh and super Sangria!
