The WORST steakhouse experience ever. They were understaffed and didn't really care. It took 20 minutes to even get a waitress to talk to is, never got offered a refill on our $15-18 alcoholic beverages, 2 of our steaks were well done instead of medium rare. I told the manager how awful it was and that we would probably never be back and she showed zero remorse. We typically go here for client meetings every few months but definitely never again.
Went to the Thanksgiving Buffet. Let me say our server was great. The carvers of the turkey and ham were inexperienced and didn’t know how to serve it hot. They were carving portions and setting them aside where they cooled off. Instead of telling me they would bring a fresh ham out, he served me tough dried out end pieces. Salad was very good, Brussels sprouts and potatoes were good.
Too bad the meat was cold and rather dried out, otherwise it was good.
Eaten here many times with friends and family. Great food but always quiet and overpriced - particularly the cocktails and wine. $19 for a simple martini and $74 for a bottle of Kim Crawford everyday sauvignon blanc - I would not say this if it were not outrageous. We some how keep coming back - maybe because it is always a safe place to find a reservation at the last minute or because the food is very good as well as the service. I would suggest drinking your cocktails or wine in your hotel room or at home before you come.
Not sure why only a later reservation was available, the place was practically empty. We love the couch seating, very intimate, especially with a couple. But very pricey, and no specific WOW. Good, but not impressive good for a $500 bill for 4! Not an everyday kind a place. Special occasion only.
Did not receive our reservation via open table. did not have table ready. forgot utensils. an order was wrong/returned and still wrong dish. no one asked if food was fine. At end waiter was more cordial. I consider any resturant that charges $30+ entrees to have a better "doggy bag" service then letting your guests do it themselves.
The food was very good but the meal was ruined due to service. We had a large party and we requested seperare checks or seperate totals for each diner. Waitress told us it would take up to 45 minutes to do that. She claimed they use a Micros restaurant system that does allow for seperate checks. She just did not want to do it. Paying the bill was difficult and very time consuming since she did not check back with us once bill was presented. Since I am familiar with the Micros system I tried to explain to waitress how to accomplish seperate totals but she would not consider.
In the end I should have told her we would wait the 45 minutes for her to figure out seperate checks as it took her over an hour to process our payments.
This experience was disappointing and will prevent me from bringing my large group there at our next convention in the spring.
I have been to the restaurant over 10 previous times, quality of food and service typically is better than what we experienced on this last visit.
Poor service starting with the hostess. Our table was not assigned to a server, so it was 20 minutes before a drink order was taken. food is expensive, quality and preparation didn't match the $160 expense for 2. Major car auction convention that weekend, restaurant didn't seem prepared and staffed for the increased traffic.
We had dinner on New Year’s Eve about 9 years ago and we loved the dinner. I promised my husband that one day we would be back for a special occasion. That time came last night for dinner when I surprised him by bringing him back to S&H. Dinner and service were great. The quality of people was disappointing but understood considering the convention and the atmosphere. All in all, it was a good experience but probably won’t be back
Enjoyed very much! Three had the salmon and said it was fantastic. I had the filet with bearnaise and it was the best I've had in a long time. My 86 year-old mother enjoyed herself because she said she could hear the conversation since it wasn't too loud, which is the best we can ask for.
Was not even seated on arrival. Couple ahead of us was seated right away and we were told to have a seat after I said I had an open table reservation. Next couple comes in after us and was seated right away while we were still waiting. Made me BRM and we left. What good is a reservation if people without reservations get seated first?!? Just wasted my time.
Service was good but our server was stretched a little too far for this kind of restaurant. Husband had filet which he said was good but not great. I had rib eye, which was delicious. Also gave us a very nice dessert for our anniversary. Overall we enjoyed ourselves and would go back.
Honestly can not say one thing negative. We live in the area and had nothing ready to make for dinner. I RELY heavily on "open table" for last minute reservations. Thank God I came across this GEM!
We have stayed at Renaissance Hotels. However, tend not to dine at "hotel" restaurants when not a guest.
Delighted we decided to give Sam and Harry's a try. The food was of excellent quality (the cheese/meat board with honey is to die for) and the rib eye was locally raised beef, dry aged at a price unheard of!! The deserts were fresh and original. We spent $300 for three; we had a fine bottle of wine, aged scotch, appetizers, full meals with sides (enough food for six if not more) deserts and after dinner drinks. Easily a $600-$1000 bill at any other fine dining establishment.
The service was exemplary. It was chilly inside after coming off the beautiful outdoor terrace. The staff members went to the front desk and offered a blanket!!!!!!!!! Who does that???? We wanted to eat our desserts and finish our drinks in the common area at the fire place. They accommodated us. They checked on us multiple times and asked if they could do anything else to make our evening complete!!!!! Who does that????? We were NOT guests. Not dressed overly nice. Definitely NOT celebrities nor large tippers!!!! (Oh, no family members are employed here!)
I am NOT a "review" person🙄. I NEVER take the time---even when the place is lousy.
Please try Sam and Harry's. I would like to see if it was the one and only time we actually got "lucky" or if this is the norm. We will be back to try it--just to be sure it wasn't a fluke. But, feeling confident it is just a great treasure.😉
I was reconnecting with a prior business colleague and heard this was a place with ambiance. When we arrived it was beautiful and made a great first impression. However, it declined from there. The service was slow and the food did not taste good. Also, the lunch menu had limited choices. I was disappointed but would go back.
Manager was very nice and comped our drinks but it was terrible on the terrace the music was going in and out (terrible noise) and the waitress took our drink order and 20 minutes went by with no drinks manager checked on us and then server brought the drinks and said manager was comping them. One of our two ordered appetizers arrived (the second one never did) and we decided not to stay for dinner and we didn't even bother asking where our second appetizer was - she brought the bill and our drinks were not comped (we only had one round of
Drinks) so we had to send check back.
Kicker: there was many 12 people outside on terrace it was NOT crowded

I typically love this place but last night I was a bit disappointed. The menu offerings only had only two Fish options one of which was ahi tuna. That was a little disappointing. I ordered the Frits which are basically french fries. They were undercooked, bland and cost $9. My sister in law ordered a lemon drop martini. It was also disappointing and way overpriced. $18! That seems extremely expensive for a drink made with well vodka! It wasn't very good either. The grilled asparagus salad was the highlight of my meal!
Short Review: Food is great especially steaks and a value for the price. The biggest problems: the drinks are outrageously price and if you do not ask there is no drink or wine menu. A simple gin martini was $17 each (2 martinis are more expensive than the main course). One glass of white wine (Kim Crawford Sav Blanc - $13 a bottle a Binnys) was $19 a glass - 2 glasses more than the generous rib eye steak. Huge surprise and not worth it. Food good - drinks robbery. Do not do it. Drink BEFORE you come.
Great tasting food and wine. I told the waitress that I was hoping for a salad with steak on too and she said "we can do that". It was a little higher in price than i liked but it was delicious.. i would get it again ... i like my steak medium-rare but it was more rare than I usually like. It was still good - they would have cooked it a little bit more if I wasn't sooo hungry:)
We went for the Mother Day's Brunch service. The buffet options were great and well space. The prime rib was excellent and everyone had their prefect Omelet. Great dessert table. So many good things, hard to know where to start sometimes! Mimosas were included in the price. Service is very good and very professional during a busy morning. Enjoyed the live music.
My wife and I, and several of our friends have been to Sam & Harry's more than a few times over the last couple of years. We love it, it has always delivered on quality. The food is amazing, the service is top notch and the wine is excellent. I set a reservation for this past Mothers Day. I was not able to get in for the actual brunch but we have always wanted to try the breakfast menu. So there was an 8:30am spot open so I booked it for my wife and I and our three daughters. If I would have known that the restaurant was closed and we would be sitting in the hotel bar there is no way I would have booked it. So we gave it a try, we were served tonic water for starters. My oldest daughter wiped her mouth with a disgusting used napkin. It might seem not that big a deal but for this restaurant it is. I honestly couldn't believe it. I wanted to leave, but my wife convinced me to stay. The food was excellent at least but the bill was over $100 with tip. Normally that would be perfectly fine, but I just feel that we could have gone to ANY everyday breakfast family restaurant and had a much better experience. Overall I was just upset that I chose Sam & Harry's for this day.
