Salvatore's-Theater District Ratings and Reviews
We made reservations at this lovation for after a show, as it is located adjacent to the Opera House. It was a special occasion for us, as I’m sure it is for many who come directly after a show. Our waitress was distracted and disinterested. The food was good and the atmosphere was nice but the less than cordial attitude from our waitress kind of killed the vibe for us. We had indicated it was a special occasion upon making our reservations but she didn’t even ask us if we wanted coffee or dessert.
We went because we wanted limoncello scallops. They weren’t on the menu. We were disappointed.
Caprise salad, pizza, were very good. My daughter had a pasta dish ($26) that didn’t measure up to her expectations. Dessert was delicious.
Our server was excellent.
The service was reasonable, but not exceptional. The caprese and meatball flatbread were tasty but the chicken Alfredo was horrendous - poor quality pasta, plastic-textured sauce with fried chicken bits that looked like that belonged in an orange chicken at a Chinese restaurant and nowhere near an Italian plate.
I met family here for dinner before the theater. It was very convenient to be right next door. The service was very prompt and friendly and we were not rushed or delayed. The food was delicious and the prices are very reasonable. It was on the loud side, but nothing that ruined the dinner.
Nice restaurant, which I agree with other reviewers could strive to improve the level of their food quality given the proximity to the Boston Opera House. However, since my party had a mature member 84 years young it worked out perfectly for a pre-theater early lunch as it is steps from the theater. Seating was comfortable, and the food was good. For appetizers, we ordered the Arancini. Arancini was okay, nothing spectacular. It appeared they forgot our bread, which when asked for was promptly brought to the table but it was significantly burned on the bottom. I would not serve that to guests so I was surprised. The butternut squash ravioli was very good, however, my daughter did not enjoy the gorgonzola cream sauce. She was not a fan of the two flavors combined, but she loved the figs! I enjoyed the lobster and shrimp ravioli, which enjoyed a very subtle red sauce. My Mom enjoyed her Haddock Florentine...not a smidgeon left on her plate. Topped off by three gelatos, a cup of coffee and an espresso the lunch was satisfying. Noise level is high so if you are seeking an atmosphere for intimate conversation this might not be the place. However, if you are seeking a restaurant close to the theatre with enjoyable food and reasonable prices this might just be what you are looking for!
The food and service here were incredible, and for reasonable prices! I wasn't expecting the food to be as good as it was and the portion sizes were enough to split. I went for dinner before seeing Phantom at the opera house next door and the service was so fast we were able to eat and go to our show on time. Atmosphere is really fun and great window views of city!
We went to Salvatore's because we were attending the Boston Opera House next door. Many of the guests were there for the same reason. First, it was EXTREMELY loud. Very hard to hear each other at our table. Food was fair: flatbread pizza with way too much tomato sauce poured on top, chicken parm loaded with cherry tomatoes, bland burger with a cold bun. My wife enjoyed her eggplant pizza, although it was too large for one and she wasn't going to bring the leftovers to the theatre! Based on its location next to the theatre, it seems the menu's options could reflect the high percentage of patrons that would enjoy a good set of staples in portions that wouldn't be wasteful.
This place is fine for quick theatre food but not a destination restaurant. Food is ok although our appetizers and entrees came out at the same time (we never indicated that we had to catch a show). We ate at the bar and felt bartender could have been more attentive to our needs (bar was about 1/4 full).
Our first time dining here before a show at the Opera House was quite enjoyable. The food & service were top rate. Although beautifully decorated, it was very loud and hard to converse with my friend right across the table. I would go there again. The excellent food and convenience to the theater were worth the dining experience!
Food was way beyond awful!! My daughter's pasta dish looked like it was left over from three different plates. Part of it was dry like pasta that had been sitting for hours, part of it was hot and mushy like food that was microwaved too long, and they put a two inch slice of what was supposed to be a freshly grated sliver of parmesan cheese on top that was dried like a piece of plastic (literally...we tore it in half just to see what the texture of the sliver of cheese was). It felt like it was a joke!! My chicken saltimbocca was sitting in a pool of tasteless soup. It had no flavor, and yet the chicken was raw in the middle and had to go back to the kitchen where it looks like they microwaved it. I have never had such a bad meal in my life. I will NEVER go back! The waitress was nice though. But, she should go someplace else where her service won't be overshadowed by horrible and inedible food!
Wonderful food and service! We were late (traffic 😩). Called to notify hostess, she assured us it was no problem and thanked us for calling. Table was held and we were able to sit right away! We were attending a play so we were short on time. Waitress was present, understood our rush and was accommodating. Wonderful menu, regular and gluten free options. Overall, wonderful service, food and experience. Thank you!!!
