Great meal. Music was a bit too loud and rock for the crowd but it was enjoyable.
From our arrival to our departure, our server was making sure we were satisfied. The meals were generous and delicious. We were going to the ballet after our lunch, and they held our leftovers until after the show was over, so we didn’t have to bring the food into the theater or make a run to the car. The desserts were scrumptious.
Salvatore’s is our favorite downtown restaurant by far, the food is excellent, the service impeccable, and the prices very reasonable.
Love this restaurant! Impeccable service, outstanding food and drinks.
I’d say Bertuccis is better. There is nothing special or updgraded about this place. It’s casual subpar Italian
I had the most delicious carefully prepared swordfish dish. It was a truly Gourmet treat!!
We eat there often before we go to the theater. Reliable Italian food, greet drinks, Very convenient for shows as several theaters in Boston.
Music was very loud, waitstaff had on jeans and sweatshirt. Waitress focused more on counting tips and talking to other waitstaff then helping patrons. Disappointed. Restaurant looked nice and then the loud music didn’t go with the style of restaurant.
We always dine at Salvatore's whenever we go to the theater. We have always enjoyed the food and service, but this time we did not. The menu had changed since the last time we were there and my favorites were no longer on the menu. I ordered the Chicken Piccata because I wanted to have a light meal before the theater. The chicken piccata that I have had at other restaurants (as well as at my own house) is a thin chicken cutlet in a light lemon/caper sauce. This chicken piccata was a large, thick chicken breast with a crust so hard that it was almost impossible to cut into. After sawing at the breast for quite some time I was finally able to get to the chicken meat itself. I quickly realized that the meat was nearly impossible to cut, and, after only one bite that it was extremely difficult to chew. The chicken was served on a faro salad which was equally unappetizing. I did mention to my waitress my displeasure about the difference of this chicken piccata as compared to a usual chicken piccata, but there was no offer to make things right. In fact, even after leaving the dish practically untouched on the table, I was still charged for it. In addition to the inedible meal, we had to ask a couple of times for bread.
When we have theater tickets again we will be dining elsewhere. In the past we have recommended this restaurant to others. That will no longer be the case.
Eggplant parm pizza was fantastic! As was the Spinach/feta pizza! We ordered a 19" and a 12" and it was perfect for the five of us. Love the location as we were attending a play at Opera House right next door. The only negative was the service. Our waitress was new and did not give us too much attention. We had to ask someone else to take our orders for both drinks and food. Then, we had to find a server to bring us the check as well as ask for water. The place was hopping so maybe they just need to hire another server to accommodate patrons on especially busy nights!
Menu was changed but not online. You may decide on something but get by here and it’s not available. Gluten free menu on line but not in restaurant. Gluten free meal was excellent with no side effects. Definitely recommend for those with celiac.
Absolutely delicious! Portions were big, but not too huge. The table we were in was up against a wall which made it feel tight, however, the rest of the restaurant seemed more open. I’d absolutely go back!
Johnny is a great waiter. Food was decent. Had a fun visit with my friend and then we went to see Waitress. All in, a great night!
This was the first time my husband and I ate at this restaurant. The server and food were outstanding!
Meatball appetizer was delicious.
Our waiter was attentive, friendly and provided great recommendations for dinner options. We asked for the check early to be sure to attend a show and he was prompt with our request. thank you.
Great, friendly service, food was awesome, wine delicious. Great pre-theater spot. Prices very reasonable.
Good food, good service. Very convenient if your seeing a show. I will go back again.
Great service, our table was ready when we arrived. We love the pizza. A large could serve 4 people. Waitress was very friendly and attentive, frequently checked on us
My husband and I went to Salvatore’s-Theater District after an afternoon show. We had reservations for 5, but the show got out early. We were a half hour early and they were so accommodating! They sat us immediately, which was wonderful! Our server was courteous and very helpful. The food was wonderful! I’m looking forward to going again!
I was late for dinner stuck in traffic they took the time to call me before they gave my table up when I got there my table was just what I asked for had a great meal before the play I will be back next time I go to the Opera House Thanks
The hostess was pleasant and helpful seating us. We were 30 minutes early, and this was not a problem. We were there for pre-theater dinner. Our server was knowledgeable and efficient. She got our meal to us without delay. The food was very good my dinner companion also enjoyed her meal. Salvatori's is a very relaxing and pleasant place to eat and the food has always been very good. The portions are very generous and they definitely want to do what they can to keep their customers happy.
I've been here many times and always enjoy myself. i look at the dining in the area for a Pre-show meal and i keep coming up with the same few restaurants. the Steak tips are Fantastic. Great Job
Play night at the Opera House
Salvatore’s is always great.
We always eat here before we go to the Opera House and are never disappointed.
Good food, good service and perfect location...what more could you ask for
Average experience...although we liked the final food ordered and interior bar theme the process wasn't worth a return trip.
This was our first trip here as what I hoped would be recognized as a 75th b-day for my mom (I put the note on the OpenTable app request when booking the table for 4); we are season ticket holders at the Opera House and make trips for theater night or dinner dates 2x or more monthly.
Tables were near full capacity, but i didn't think overall very busy kitchen. Ambient noise was typical of many restaurants nearby and never an issue; wait staff was not overly responsive for bar, appetizers or dinner.
She seemed embarrassed when we asked for a beer menu "there is none" since from our seating area, it was impossible to note the dark chalk items left and right of the bar wall. I understand taps can change daily, but printing a flier would have helped those in party not wanting a cocktail.
I was disappointed multiple of our 1st order menu items requested were not available. Really?? 6pm Sat night out of 2 appetizer and 3 entrees (veal parm not available at a prime italian restaurant?!?)
Meatballs and sauce (delicious) served in bowl without spoon or service utensil for sharing
no bread with dinner
Ribs were delicious also as an alternate to the calamari not available for the night
utensil set-ups for dinner service missing: steak knife with the steak tips (2nd choice for mom b-day when her 1st choice Salmon was not available); pasta spoon for curried shrimp pasta plate..they arrived after prompting,
1-2 rounds of drinks served; as a potential celebratory dinner we were thinking 3-4 per person but chose not to order once we felt abandoned by our waitress
no invitation from staff to experiment with desserts (not listed on main menu anyway..we had no idea what would be offered and had no time to waste anyway if we did order)..nice birthday dinner...thx for that (Not!)
Great service that evening great food fabulous cocktails
The location was great, food selection very good, unfortunately the service was only adequate.
Love this restaurant and tend to choose it every time I go to the theatre. Great food, lots of gluten free options and great drinks.
Been here a few times and food never disappoints. The Gnocci was delicious. Good beer selection. Convenient to theater district.
Everything was fine - food delicious and service good.
Always get their Chicken Parm...it's awesome but this time I had a very big lunch so needed to downsize since their portions are huge so I ordered the flatbread pizza. WOW now I see why Sal's pizza has become famous.
One of the best pizzas ever. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu.
Our friend is glutten free and she was able to find a lot of choices.
You can't beat Salvatore's and it's right next to the opera house.
Food was not worth the price. We ate here because it is kid friendly and next door to the Nutcracker. They need to go back to traditional Italian flavors. Who puts faro with Chicken Picata?
I take my daughter for a special dinner and date at christmas during nutcracker. We normally go to legal crossings, but thought we would try something different. Made reservations two month ahead. Was greated by an extremely rude hostess. When asked for a booth I was told I had to have three or more people. Ask to speak to the manager who was cooking and refused to give us a booth. The food was awful. We had two orders of scallops for appetizers which were both burnt. Bread was so hard and burnt. Food was so disgusting and freezing cold. I think they precooked the food and left it under a heat lamp. Service was slow. Took an hr and 20 min. to eat and was not busy at all at the time. Place needs to be redone it is dirty inside. One bathroom was backed up the other one was nasty and disgusting. Would never go back to this place it was so bad. Bill was over $100, never again! Do not go here!!!
They got rid of their lunch menu so all they have is their dinner menu. Online menu is obsolete... ignore it. And no veal parm... just chicken and egg plant. This makes lunch very expensive for mediocre food... $20 for a 2-3 meatballs on top of some fairly bland spaghetti. Service was fine... not exceptional. We got one serving of bread and oil with 5 small pieces of bread for 3 adults. No checking to see if we would like more. I’d say this place is OK for dinner for convenience to the Opera House but I will never each lunch here again.
Food was terrible. Manager comped entire meal. Server was great but even acknowledged food was bad. Manager could have been better- she seemed likes this happens all the time and was almost immune to it.
We were delayed and they held our table in a very busy season. Wonderful service!
Tried this place for dinner as we were seeing the Nutcracker at the Opera House next door. We come from RI every year to see the ballet and try new restaurants. We heard good things but we were disappointed in the food. The staff and service were great along with the atmosphere.
We made reservations at this lovation for after a show, as it is located adjacent to the Opera House. It was a special occasion for us, as I’m sure it is for many who come directly after a show. Our waitress was distracted and disinterested. The food was good and the atmosphere was nice but the less than cordial attitude from our waitress kind of killed the vibe for us. We had indicated it was a special occasion upon making our reservations but she didn’t even ask us if we wanted coffee or dessert.
Perfect spot for a perfect bite before the ballet!
We went because we wanted limoncello scallops. They weren’t on the menu. We were disappointed.
Caprise salad, pizza, were very good. My daughter had a pasta dish ($26) that didn’t measure up to her expectations. Dessert was delicious.
Our server was excellent.
