Great place for a nice dinner. Service was terrific. Highly recommend and will be back....often!
I love this place. Awesome for dates, with friends or with my parents. They have something for everyone. I am a big fan of their pizza and salads. Other people I’ve gone there with have been very happy with their pasta and fancier entrees. They will get you in and out quickly if you’re going pre-show. Speaking of which- heads up that it is VERY busy before shows at the Opera House and Paramount, so plan accordingly!
The music on a Sunday pre-performance for a show was delightful, ambiance warm and inviting! Service is slow but our server was attentive certainly not her fault. Kitchen is slow but the bar was worse! there were perhaps 20 people in the building and the wait time for cocktails exceeded 20 minutes. Clearly no experience with mixology, our drinks were all too sour or too sweet. Stick with beer or wine here.
I was disappointed that we had a reservation and were told that we could only order pizza and salad. It would have been good if those with reservations had been called or emailed to let them know a strike was in place that would hinder the dining experience. I normally love this place but was very disappointed in their actions that evening.
Horrific service by Vanessa. 50min to wait for simple lunch while at business lunch. When we asked about the food she screamed unprofessionally at us and asked us to leave and cancel our order. Dirty glasses.
Pleasant atmosphere, tasty comfort Italian food, and modestly priced. My wife and I went there for a pre-theater meal. We shared a medium sized pizza, ceaser salad, glasses of wine and dessert - all for about $60. Service was attentive, but not rushed. White pizza with mushroom, onion and ricotta was quite delicious - as good as anything I've had elsewhere, and it tasted fresh and seasoned just right. Certainly not a top tier, 5 star restaurant, but a very reasonable choice for a modestly priced, good Italian meal. I have been there twice over the years (for pre theater meals) and would gladly come back.
Took way too long they seemed understaffed.
It was pretty disappointing. My mom and I usually go here before shows at the opera house and decided to make a reservation to celebrate my graduation. Unfortunately it seems to be nothing like it used to be. There were no specials, we weren’t shown to our table (the host just pointed at it) and our waiter didn’t seem to want to do his job. My moms food was cold and instead of giving her fresh pasta, they put it in the microwave. Won’t be booking again anytime soon.
Everything went well. Seated promptly. Waiter was attentive. Food was served hot and in a timely manner. Would for sure return. Thank you.
When our group arrived we had to wait for the two people at the desk to look up from their phones to greet us. They young man pointed us to our seats (did not take us to them) we sat and had a very nice waitress who was kind and engaging. We were disappointed when after a bit of waiting the wrong meal was brought to our table for my mother-in-law, because we were running late for a show we did not have time to wait for them to correct it nor did she want what the mistaken meal was, it was taken off the bill rightly so since it was taken away but it was not addressed by the manager on duty at all. At one point I needed to use the restroom and went to go ask the front seat staff where it was but again, their heads were in their phones and I could not get their attention and I was too annoyed to bother to interrupt them being transfixed.
I will say the food was very good and it was convenient to the theater and I did like our waitress so I would go back if it was before a show but I wouldn’t go out of my way to go there.
We had 6:30 tickets for the Opera House next door and arrived ahead of our 4 PM reservation. We were seated promptly, drink orders taken, and the server DID NOT RUSH US. I emphasize that because lately it seems that whenever I dine out, I feel like I'm running a race because the wait staff is constantly hovering. News flash: we know you are trying to turn the table. I like to relax and enjoy my meal, and converse with my dining companion(s) and I won't be rushed. This was a great experience. I had risotto, my friend had the salmon, and we shared the arancini and a Ceasar salad.
We had a reservation at 8pm and the place had just cleared out. We thought, perfect timing! No ones in here.
- Our server was basically non existent. She was standing by the kitchen on her phone.
- We then saw her leave 45 minutes into our meal so she was clearly checked out. We then had two other people who did a better job of checking in after orig. server left.
- You could hear the kitchens music over the music in the restaurant.
- Our drinks sat at the bar for 10 minutes before brought over.
Decent food, terrile service we received.
The glasses and restroom were dirty and the food wasn't very good, especially for the price.
Food is excellent. Servers are very efficient and friendly. The only issue is it gets very loud when it's busy.
The food was good great tasting and good price
Our waitress made my time raven better she was very helpful with my daughters gluten allergy she was always around when needed and very friendly
My only issue with the whole night came after we paid my daughter and I were in a conversation when this other waiter came over very rudely and told us point blank time for us to leave we over stayed our 2 hr time limit our table is needed for another reservation that just arrived. Trust me I get it people have theater tickets ( just like we did) and reservations times need to be kept but there’s a right way and a wrong way to tell people this
And trust me this was the wrong way
Cause of this I most likely would not visit that location again which is sad due to the fact myself and my family visit the theater on a regular basis
The food was great. The Bartender with the beard was Awesome! But, I had called the night before making sure that my 6:30 reservation could be changed to 5:45 and the hostess said it was fine and that I was all set. I get there and they don't have a table for us because "sometimes the servers will answer the phone and forget to put the reservation in". I was aggravated because I wanted a table with my mom. If I wasn't able to change the time of my reservation they should've said that, I would've been okay with that... Other than that, I was happy with the service of the bartender and food was delicious!
Outstanding service from a knowledgeable and delightful server!
When we arrived the waitress said the restaurant was closed.
I love Salvatore’s, the pizza is delicious. I usually go to the one in Medford but was heading to the Boston opera house and decided to stop here to eat before. The service wasn’t too great but I think it was just because it was so busy.
Server didn’t got the order right
Attention to detail was missing. We were a party of 4 but table was set for two, we had to ask for fork, knife etc.
when food came had to wave down waitress for cheese, salt and pepper.
Everything was great but it’s very loud and it’s hard to carry on a conversation.
We were seated right away for a reserved time. Waiter very kind and professional and accommodating. My husband ordered off the menu and they accommodated his request. Informed waiter that we were pressed for time and he delivered greatly. Perfect place to go before the theater.
After several nice outings at Salvatore's, this week's visit was most disappointing. The food took an hour (we told our server we had theatre tickets), two of the three meals were burned, and the pasta dish was undercooked and the pasta clumped together. Our server apologized and comped the meal.
Food was good. Waitress was slow and forgot to ask if we wanted drinks. Little noisy.
When we arrived at Salvatore's they had no record of my reservation. Luckily, I had a reminder from you guys on my phone. The place was jumping and everybody was having a nice time. And it was very crowded. Luckily we were able to get a table but I must say I really felt the hostess's attempt at intimidation. We were waited on promptly. Our server was friendly, gracious and professional. I ordered risotto which I had had the month before and thought was excellent. Unfortunately, the risotto was more like a rice soup this time. My friend's hamburger was fine, no problem. We were eating before theater. Our meal was unusually slow coming out. Because of the long wait for our dinner we had to pack up most of it in order to make the show on time. I have to say that if this had been our first experience there we probably would not go back. Any place can have an off night . Our hostess needs to learn how to be more gracious.
The perfect restaurant to go to especially if you going to the opera house which is right next-door . If smaller menu choices which is great if you just need a bite before the theater . The wait staff are super nice and the food is great! I would suggest a reservation if you plan to go before the play
We love going to Salvatore's before each play at the Boston Opera House! It's our favorite place!
We had dinner here before the theater. The service was friendly and informative. It was very busy but our server kept us informed on our orders progress. No one rushed us at all. Dinners were delicious. I had the risotto dish. My husband had steak tips. We shared the hummus platter as an app and it was good. Delicious hummus! The noise level is quite high but we adjusted. This was our second time here and will return. It’s a worthy option.
I have never written a bad review, in fact I rarely write reviews unless our experience is exceptional. Unfortunately, from the moment we arrived to a table that was cleared but not wiped clean and had sauce rubbed into it that stained my husband's shirt, we were hoping things would improve but they did not. The hostesses were young and inexperienced and seemingly no one took issue with the fact that they were inappropriately dressed and were on their cell phones most of the time. The appetizers were tiny portions and by the time the waitress checked on us, it was too late to order more. The main courses did not impress and were not finished by any of us. This was more like cafeteria dining but for upscale prices and it was a tough bill to pay. That night two of the four of us got sick to our stomachs and this was our only food of the night so that was the last straw. The location is great for theater tickets in that neighborhood but I really can't say anything else positive about the experience. I'd suggest picking a different restaurant on the theater's list.
After theatre at opera house. Very convenient + food good+reasonably priced
Too expensive for what you get. Hated the sauce on the chicken and eggplant parm. Noodles not cooked. Not great.
Salvatore’s is a terrific restaurant for lunch or dinner. The waitstaff are welcoming and offer excellent service. The menu has many delicious dishes. It offers excellent quality for reasonable prices.
One of our to go places before a show. We have always had great service and the food has consistently been really good. Definitely recommend.
Excellent location and service in the heart of Boston’s theater district
Pizza was excellent and salad was very good too. Nice large portion.
Had a terrific dinner and drinks at Salvatore's Saturday night. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly, the menu had something for everyone (vegetarian, gluten free & carnivore's) and the drinks were great!!
The service was excellent and the food was amazing.
The service was fantastic, their menus are easy to read and understand. I ordered a specialty from their drink menu and it was quite tasty.
Poor wine list poor ambiance glaring lighting . The place is a glorified over charging pizza parlor
