Salvatore's Italian Gardens Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
A beautiful restaurant with very good food and service. We have been here several times. In the past, the food quality was up and down. We were seated in a room with several large groups, so the noise level made it difficult to have a conversation. The restaurant is built on several levels and I saw elderly people with walkers struggling to get to their table. Overall, our experience was good and we will return.
Our server was terrible!!! Was more concerned with his large tables than our table of two. Never offered another drink, never checked on meal. Had to ask for a water glass and water, had to ask about specials. When he did speak to us was patronizing. Have been coming here for 35 years, probably won't be back. Service and quality of food continues to decline.
the parking lot was a mess, no parking spots and valet backed up at least 6 vehicles. Steep $5.00 fee for valet also. one person at host/hostess desk and many ppl waiting. Finally we were seated, service was slow but understandable, the place was packed. Caprese panini was ok but chips were soggy and cold. overall, the food was just ok, holiday decorations, as usual, were gorgeous
Very disappointed --- you asked!
I brought clients for a holiday luncheon - which has always previously been excellent.
The lunch took 2.5 hours - not crowded at all - shrimp were vey tough - Wegman's shrimp are better, 2 flatbreads were ordered, both burned and cold.
I don't mind paying for "Salvatores" - and this was the first time I have ever had any complaint - is not what my previous experiences have been at all.
I have another party reserved for the 21st - thinking about cancelling and booking elsewhere.
Dinner at Salvatore's was great for the holidays....food was wonderful as well. They go all out on decorations for the holiday season. It's perfect for family pictures and well received by everyone. We were with our full family. 6 adults and 5 children. The waiter was very attentive to the kids, but service seemed slow considering the kids were young . I realize this is not a fast food restaurant and the kids did great...But it was a 3 hour dinner.
Came for Brunch with Santa, our new family tradition (starting last year). Service was excellent. Food was good. We come mostly for the Christmas decorations. Great family photos! Would like to come for lunch or dinner & order off the menu on a more quiet day. You have to love Salvatore's at Christmas time!
We had a very large group and were seated at a round table. This made conversation great for a table with so many people. The servers were polite, efficient and very helpful. The $39.00 menu selection is very reasonable. Everyone was very pleased with the selections and how the food was presented. Portions were hearty and delicious. It is amazing how all the food came out to our table and all together. The piped in music could be softer and not so loud. It did make hearing each other a bit difficult. Overall, this is a wonderful restaurant to celebrate a special occasion, especially at Christmas time with all the beautiful decorations in the foyers. If you haven't dined at Salvatores, you must do so.
We love Salvatore's and go every year for my husbands birthday with our granddaughter. Although we enjoy a leisurely dinner service was extremely slow. It took over 1/2 hour to get our drinks and another 1/2 hour waiting for cheesecake for our granddaughter. The waitress was not attentive and gave no consideration of a child at the table perhaps because she is so well behaved. First time we have been disappointment with our experience there.
We just experienced the worst lunch ever. We came to lunch with reservations on Friday December 8 at 12:30pm. We had a gentlemen waiter ( tall, glasses , blondish hair or light hair ).
He was very flustered the entire time. He asked us about out drink order twice after we already placed it. After at least 15 minutes he came and reviewed our order and we already thought he put it in with the kitchen. In fact he came back to clarify what we ordered.
Our appetizer took a very long time. There was another long period of time between the app and the entrees. Then after all that he got the order wrong ! He also forgot one of the soups that was ordered. At that point we told him to forget about bringing it.
My steak was luke warm and the salad was limp and mushy ! The magaretia pizza tasted like cardboard ! This was an awful Christmas lunch. We brought two guests to celebrate a special event and it was so incredibly disappointing! We planned in the beginning to order desserts for the table but after this we simply couldn’t wait to leave. The topper was when the waiter came over and said he was sorry for the experience and that he took responsibility for it all. Yet he didn’t take off anything from the bill or offer us compensation in anyway. He simply stated he new it was awful.
We were so embarrassed as we bragged about your restaurant to our guests and wanted to show them an amazing time in Buffalo!
We had a fantastic server and the room was perfect. Old friends
from AMERICAN AIRLINES that we have know since the late 60's.
We were alone in the area that was chosen for us, and we were
able to laugh and talk without bothering others in the restaurant.
This is our 4th year and will be there again next season.
By their own admission, they were short-staffed for lunch (which is only served during the holiday season). We waited 25 minutes before our order was taken. The host ended up being our server. Usually the service is impeccable, but it was evident that this crew hadn't been trained per the usual standard and they were reaching across us to place and remove plates, etc. Two of us had the steak in the grass sandwich and it was delicious. Another had the italian reuben which looked a little skimpy and disappointing. Dessert (peanut butter pie) was shared and very good. The restaurant and shared spaces are beautifully decorated for the season - so it's always fun to go.
Six of us each ordered something different off the lunch menu. Since we weren’t going back to work we were able to each enjoy a specialty cocktail. From beginning to end the food was fantastic... service attentive.... atmosphere festive! Shopped in both of Dalvatores fabulous gift shops after lunch. Found a few “perfect” Xmas gifts!
While I have frequented this neighborhood staple often over the years, this last visit was horrific and unacceptable. The female server could not be bothered interacting with us (although was flirty and interactive with those around us), did not check on how our food tasted, could not be bothered answering our questions, and simply put, was non-existent and unresponsive overall. We were there for 2.5 hours due to very poor service. Never again. I was truly embarrassed. For a restaurant of that caliber, I expected far more than was received.
Service was slow. Our server had a knack for avoiding the table. Most disappointing was the food. I have been to Salvatores many times, this is the first time the food was not great. Most of us had Salvatores special - steak and tortellini were barely warm, chicken was as dry as a bone. Admittedly,I did not complain that night, we were there for an 85th birthday and I didn't want to take away from the celebration.
The experience was perfect from start to finish. The staff was there for our every need. The food was delicious and we got to see the holiday decor. We ordered the table side seafood meal and the bananas foster that was prepared at our table. The gentleman that prepared the dishes was very entertaining and very personable. Their staff is very professional. Would dine there again.
Ordered thanksgiving dinner. Little gravy, had to look for cranberry sauce and the amount of squash didn’t warrant a taste — which was about it, one forkful. The cappuccino for dessert was warm. Won’t return. Not worth the $39 cost per meal.
Frankly, we came for Turkey Dinner in a great ambiance. The shredded lettuce salad was the worst salad i ever had. Leafy salad with not so thick dressing with some taste of a hot date would have been just fine. Your fancy idea of round noodle lettuce was tasteless. My daughter's Archochoves (?) was equally bad as she had a bite of 1/3 and didn't eat the other two.
In the dinner entré Gravey was tasty, mashed potatoes and stuffing was too rich in heavy oils or tard so we both didn't much beyond tasting it. Turkey white meat was so commercialized as it came from a can. It was tasteless as if it wasn't turkey but synthetic look alike product. Sweet potatoes were decently done. I can never eat boiled on the raw side green beens anyway. We had tried Turkey Dinner from Wegman's and now Salvatore's Italian Garden. Only Home made Turkey Dinner is the best.
Since it was Thanksgiving the restaurant was very busy. They were decorated for Christmas and the decorations were outstanding. They have a special $39.00 three course menu which we all had and totally enjoyed and the portions were much bigger than expected. Will go back the next time I'm in Buffalo.
