Salvatore's Italian Gardens Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Our server didn’t greet us and take drink orders until about 30 minutes after we were seated. After the drinks were ordered it took another 30 minutes to receive them.
They completely forgot about my second round after the order was placed, so it was removed from the bill.
Didn’t bother with dessert because we didn’t want to wait another hour...
Overall was a very enjoyable evening. Was under impression at time of booking that beacause it was my birthday a portion of my dinner would be complimentary. Only to be told by my server after we were seated that this wasn't valid on Saturday evenings. Enjoyed the restaurant regardless, excellent food. Service by our server on the other had was less than attentive. Food and drink service took forever and after dinner specialty drinks were forgotten completely while he continued to talk to the next table. Will consider returning but will certainly hope for better service.
Salvatore's is a one of a kind, old school Italian restaurant with upscale touches. The decor is over the top. Statues, mirrors and chandeliers in every room. The food is consistently good. Clams casino, fried artichoke hearts, gnocchi in white truffle sauce, prime rib or the excellent lasagna bolognese are favorites. The service is attentive and friendly. Excellent place for a special night out.
I choose to dine at Salvatore's for special occasions specifically because they are gluten - free friendly. However, my gluten-free meal and ecperience on this visit was not as good as previous meals. They put a balsamic sauce on my vegetables after I already stated I could not have balsamic dressing on my salad. The gluten-free rolls (I give Salvatore's VERY high marks for even offering gluten-free rolls because the vast majority of restaurants don't) were tasteless compared to those they used to serve. When they took my plate away to remove the balsamic-sauce- covered vegetables, it was clear they just wiped that corner of the plate and put a few sauce-free vegetables on the same plate. That is not a gluten-free-safe procedure. The rest of the food on my plate got jostled around and did not look appetizing.
The service was good but overall the place was a rip off. The steaks were delivered with the wrong temperature and we had to swap them at the table. The lobster tail my husband got was small and overdone and the meal wasn't worth $85!!!!! I would save your money and go somewhere else
Overall I was happy but I have some criticisms. The waiters checked with us too often and kept adking if we were done. It seemed that he was rushing us. Also I had Minestrone soup. Tasted good but not many veggies in it for the money. It was also both our birthdays and we did tell the host but we got nothing special for that. Other table got a sparkling dessert. And last, it was kind if noisey. I know that is hard to control but I had trouble hearing my friend at my table.
The Vermont salad makes a two hour drive worth it Salvatore’s offers a Prix fixe menu for three courses at $39 that is quite wonderful. Roast beef is always a great choice. Very professional staff make the restaurant run so smoothly. We love seeing all the beautiful Christmas decorations each year!
Worst dining experience I’ve ever had. Would never recommend anyone to dine here. Took over an hour and a half to get our food. Service was bad. Seems like the “rich” looking guests get serviced much better than the “middle class” guests. Will never return
We had our reservation for 830. They were behind, I understand that it was New Years Eve but at 930 pm my husband and I were looking at just water on our tables. We didn’t leave the restaurant until 11pm! The timing was just unacceptable and the tables were very close together. I felt like I was having dinner with the table next to us. The waiter was slow with service but wonderful and the food was fabulous. As always the restaurant was elaborately decorated for the holidays. The lobby is stunning with all the beautiful trees! When you want that special occasion dinner I would still recommend Salvatore’s.
Went there for New Years dinner with my wife thinking we’d get the dinner for two menu but they had separate menu for New Years a lot pricier then normal menu and after spending $269 for dinner and having couple drinks I still left there not really full. The casino clams were not very good and the Caesar salad was too small but I will say the steak and lobster I got was very good
We had a family dinner which included two grandchildren of 8 and 13. The meal was very good with six different entrees and appetizers. Everyone enjoyed what they had. The service was excellent. Both waiter and busboy were very attentive to our every need including making sure the young ones were enjoying the occasion. I have been drinking Manhattans for more years than I would like to admit to but have never had a better one than the Salvatore's Black Manhattan.
Five of us went to celebrate a birthday. The server didn’t rush us as we were also exchanging Xmas gifts with one person before dinner. The food was excellent from beginning to end and prepared to everyone’s liking. Cake that we supplied was served with sparklers. Truly a festive wonderful experience!
Everything about this restaurant was top notch, however I can't say the same for our server. The bus person was very attentive, but the server disappeared often and was gone a long time. Brought food , but when he went back for a piece of silverware, the food got cold by the time he returned. He was even surprised when someone else didn't bring us the bill. We spent more time waiting for our bill than in eating our entire meal. It ruined our anniversary dinner. All I wanted to do was to get out of there. Poor server....only 15% tip. Hope he 'gets it.'
Went to Salvatore's for my husband's birthday and to view their wonderful holiday decorations. Setting was spectacular - over the top Christmas decor is always a treat. Food was so so. Most of us ordered off the price fix menu and frankly when you do that I don't think you get the attention any diner deserves. My daughter ordered a full entree - Seafood Scampi - mini lobster tail was so salty it was not edible. Others in our party said their food came out lukewarm. We had a party of 6 - spend close to $400 - food should bee better when you are spending that kind of money. Our server was great - but didn't do anything but say she was sorry when we complained about the food. We had a very generous gift card given to us by friends so we went to celebrate a special occasion. I won't be going back anytime soon. Russell's just down the road is a much better choice.
We have come to Salvatore's with a family of 10 for the last 5 years the first couple of years it was great, one of the best dinning experiences we had as a family. Last year is was average both food and service. We thought this might have been just a bad waiter and poor food choice that he recommended . This year was a very similar experience. We will be looking for a new spot next year to dine for our family post Christmas Shopping trip
I was so disappointed with our service. The restaurant is beautifully decorated for the holidays and is set up so nicely for large groups or an intimate, romantic evening. It seems like the perfect place to celebrate an important event. The service we received took so long. We sat at 6:10 and I didn't receive the check until 9:30. My family became so impatient they went ahead to take pictures and walk around while I waited for the server to come with the bill. The dining room was not busy so I don't understand why it took so long. The food was ok but overpriced. A couple fruit flies were floating around during our meal; that was unappetizing. I also went to the bathroom and a server came in and left without washing her hands. At that point, I wanted to find her and let a manager know but was unable to locate her. I was expecting so much more and was greatly disappointed. I would recommend staying in the attached hotel and taking pictures for the holidays and maybe enjoy drinks at the bar but I would not recommend dining here at all. Totally not worth the money.
The restaurant is decorated beautifully for the holidays and the food is always very good. Have been here many times; unfortunately this time we were seated in a new room that was added with their new hotel addition (across from the bar) and the room was not as inviting as the other dining rooms. This was a celebration for my husband and myself and I felt like we were overdressed for this room; it does not have the same ambience as the rest of the restaurant. Next time I make reservations I will ask that we are seated in one of the other dining rooms.
Salvatores is one of our favorite restaurants and we are never disappointed. The food is the best and the holiday decorations were tasteful and spectacular. Being that it is the holidays, the restaurant was very full and the service was slower than normal, but it gave us a chance to digest between courses. Our steaks were cooked to perfection. Our waiter was kind and took time to stop and check in with us often to let us know about the delay in food arriving. For special occasions, Salvatores is always one of our first choices.
