The restaurant is a hidden gem in San Diego. I'm always looking for a good Italian restaurant. I think I found one here in downtown San Diego. My wife and I ate here for Valentines day and really enjoyed the food. We didn't get a chance to try the regular menu because they had a special menu for Valentines day. We will be back to try the regular menu but what we had was really good. The service was great. Our waiter was on top of everything.
Simply amazing! Food was fabulous and the ambiance was spot on for a romantic dinner.
The food was amazing! The ambiance was perfect and the restaurant is absolutely beautiful. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming.
Excellent cuisine and service. Very welcoming highly professional , no rush environment. The quality never fails having been there dozens of times over the years
great place for a quiet business dinner. and the good was very good quality
Excellent service from Alexa. The lasagna was authentic with fresh noodles; best we have had since a visit to Bologna. The ossobuco over saffron risotto was perfect, absolutely falling off the bone. Silverware was refreshed as necessary. Dinner was not rushed. No one was trying to whisk away the plates or asked "are you still working on that." Homemade crème brulee was creamy and not too sweet--perfect and topped with fresh fruit. Wine pours were larger than typical, making the wine by the glass worth the price. Parking in downtown San Diego is always problematic, but in this case the garage was in the same building and our ticket was taken care of by the restaurant (i.e., free parking).
Great food and service. This is a wonderful spot for a special occasion. We both had a starter and smaller portion of pasta and it was plenty of food.
Fabulous food, civil, easy to talk and a beautiful restaurant.
After my wife attended a seminar in downtown San Diego, we took advantage of being near Salvatore's and enjoyed a great Italian dinner. My wife ordered the spicy crab pasta (as she always does) and I had the restaurant's signature item of Lasagna. Both were very enjoyable and satisfying.
My wife and I love trying new restaurants, this place is a gem. We were celebrating my wives birthday and I was surprising her with tickets to a play after dinner so we were on a time schedule. When I made our reservations, I noted that. My wife was seated first as I parked the car. I was greeted by the Manager who informed me, my secret was mum. After I gave her the tickets, I told the waiter that the secret was out. He was releaved because he said he had seen this play and couldn't wait to tell it was a great play. They were all so friendly. Live piano music,..played lightly so it's not overwhelming. Food was fantastic. I will absolutely go back.
We love it! The place, food, ambience is excellent.
We had a great time. The food was delicious.
The owner is an excellent hostess
They were very nice and friendly. The service was excellent in general
One of the best restaurants in San Diego
We booked the restaurant based on its positive reviews and the restaurant delivered! It was my 50th birthday dinner and the food was scrumptious. (Fish, filet and pasta all delicious-- the creme brule was fantastic and a perfect way to cap off the evening.) We had a great table with a view of the passers-by on the street-- the white tablecloth and fresh pink roses added an elegant and classy touch. We highly recommend Salvatore's--it won't disappoint.
Great food. Great service. Consistently, a wonderful dining experience.
Huge menu with choices to satisfy all. Amazing flavors carefully pairing different foods together. Excellent service. Live piano music during dinner was a pleasant surprise and added to dining experience. Pricey but you will not be disappointed!
This was very good food and the wine was reasonable. We had a very poor waiter that took away from our experience. All in all we probably wont give it another try due to the availability of restaurants in the area but I hate to see a business suffer because of a bad employee.
A friend suggested that my wife and I dine at Salvatore's Cucina Italiana during a visit to San Diego. The menu contained an excellent and diverse selection of Italian Cuisine. We ordered cocktails, appetizers, entrees and desert. We chose from the wine list a very delicious and reasonably priced Italian wine. The staff made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in the door and provided very help descriptions and advice about the menu selections and the wine list. Rarely have we encountered such a friendly and helpful restaurant staff. Our meal was accompanied by music provided by a fine pianist. We enthusiastically recommend Salvatore's.
The food was exquisite. 10/10 would go there again, and the people and atmosphere was amazing.
Love the food and the ambiance! Owner is really nice
Terrible service and the food was as good as an Olive garden. The waiter was kind but probably was working on many tables at the same time. The place is really nice though and the owner had a really nice attitude.
Excellent service. Food was not so great
The best italian cuisine, nice ambiance, great service. Perfect dinner choice!!
The Lasagna was the best. A bit salty this time. The Oso Bucco was ok except for the so-called Risotto, not good. It was like eating dried rice. Not Risotto at all. I sent it back. The gay host did not want to comp the plate. Also, we brought our own wine, the corkage fee was $30 bucks.. outrageous.. this was my “go to” Italian place. Not anymore. This place has gone DOWN HILL. Not going back. Thank you very much.
It was beautiful, perfect, amazing! Can’t wait to come back!
We go to Salvatore's at the end of the year with our entire family to celebrate the holidays. We have never been disappointed, and always enjoy our meal. We have a couple of vegans in our family and the service staff there is always very accommodating.
Fabulous! is the appropriate word for this restaurant! We love Italian Food
and searched the internet. What a FIND...we like simple decor in white
and let the food be the star and it was!
We had two dinners there out of six days, they were closed the 24/25.
Wanted to spend a special night with my wife. Looked up romantic Italian listings in San Diego and this was rated very well, and made a reservation. As soon as we walked in we were greeted warm heartedly, and was seated. The wait staff was very attentive and not intrusive, Very professional. They made us feel real welcomed. The food was amazing. We were reading the menus, and the waiter had suggested the specials, which sounded great. So I ordered the fillet special and my wife ordered the halibut. Everything was cooked perfectly. Will recommend this to anyone for a special night out with their special someone.
Food was outstanding. Definitely will be back to visit
We were celebrating our 28th Anniversary and the meal was exquisite! Wonderful restaurant, delicious food!
The food was absolutely amazing; the proprietor was warm and welcoming; and the ambiance was perfect for our special occasion!
Amazing food as always and thank you for making my birthday special
Great food, authentic Italian, friendly service, convenient location
What a find. Not do be missed. We went there because of its rating. The food was fantastic. The greeting by Salvatore himself got the evening off to a great start.
My second visit. The Osso bucco is just outstanding. Have referred all my friends to this lovely spot
Lovely setting. Friendly, attentive service. Excellent food
This was our first visit. The restaurant is very elegant with a distinctive European flair. The food was very good and the service was outstanding. It is pricey so it's a bit of a splurge but depending on what you are looking for it can be a very good choice.
From the personal handshaek on entering, to the beautiful live harpist, to the fabulous cocktails, and of course the great food - accommodated our allergies and preferences with grace. Really nice San Diego special meal.
Very nice place with delicious food! So classy..great for friends get together.
The food, service, and ambiance was excellent. Our party of 11 truly enjoyed the dishes served and the wait staff was very attentive from the minute we walked in the door. The shrimp scampi was my favorite and had the best marinara sauce every tasted and I truly love Italian food. The wine and appetizers were delicious. Many thanks to the friendly staff at Salvatore for the wonderful dinner and for making our evening in San Diego a memorable event. Hats off to the chef!! We loved it!
Always excellent. The lasagna is outstanding!
Loved it!!! Highly recommend! Was even greeted at the door by my first name.
