We were greeted by a wonderful gentleman who made us feel very welcome. The staff were all pleasant and competent. The meal was delicious and we did not experience any issues during the service. It was a fabulous experience and we will definitely go back again.
Birthday DISASTER !
I think the kitchen lost our order for our main course. I had to go wandering around trying to find our waiter Patrick. By the time it finally came my Alzheimer’s wife was past eating, in tears, and ready for bed so we left the delicious looking food untouched. We were fully charged for the very expensive meal though and since we were staying in a hotel couldn’t practically take it with us.
A restaurant that cannot do veal piccata al Limone has a major problem in the kitchen. The veal was breaded or at least heavy with flour, sautéed, and served without a decent portion of lemon caper sauce. No lemon wedges on the side or reggiano to give it a little more flavor. Very basic stuff. Might as well have been Veal Milanese. Staff friendly but not attentive. David is a sweet guy and very gracious, but didn’t come over to make sure we were ok once seated. Not very crowded. Living past it’s reputation??
High prices for ordinary Italian food.
Thank you very much! Excellent Food and Service! It was a nice restaurant!
Very tasty Italian food in comfortable surroundings with excellent service. Close to convention center and less frenetic than many Gaslight district restaurants.
Good dinner with family, Master was so kind, I recommend anyone to take the restaurant
Salvatore's provides fine dining in the downtown San Diego area. The food is exquisite and delicious. The dishes are expensive for very good reason from presentation to taste. My husband and I will return as we wish to try some of the other dishes on the menu.
Fabulous as always.....our waiter was the best! Thanks for another great meal before a SD event!
Loved the ambiance - beautifully played live harp music, white tablecloths and formal waiters. The food was excellent. Every dish was executed perfectly and the seafood was so fresh! A treat. Unlike so many 'good' restaurants these days, the food was not rushed and we were not rushed out the door as soon as we had finished dining. A great night - thankyou, we look forward to returning.
The food was very good. A bit disappointed in the attitude of the server. He made one of my guests feel talked down to.
Excellent food, excellent service! Loved Patrick! Wonderful harpist!
Have been going there for our anniversary for the past 5 years. Every time we are greeted and treated just like family. Waiters are very knowledgeable about the food and drink and make great recommendations for my picky eater wife haha. She loves it and I love it. Freddy never let's anything go empty and and is always there when something is needed. We will be coming back for many years to come.
Great food great location and environment.
Very slow and poor service confusion Due to a large party in the back if the restaurant that seemed to have the entire staff consumed.
our group was the last to be served and we spent an hour plus waiting for our dinners. Very disappointing.
The owner or general manager never cane by to explain what was happening they could have been more aware and tried harder to explain and make our experience more pleasant.
We were with our top customer I was embarrassed as the host.
Amazing food and excellent service. Will definitely return!
The food Salvatore's Cucina was great. Everything was fresh and tasted very good. The staff was on top of everything. My wife and I came here for Valentine's day and we enjoyed but we didn't get a chance to try the whole menu. So we came back and really had an opportunity to explore the menu. The lasagna was made perfectly and the steak that we ordered was special. we are definitely coming back to try more of the menu.
Everything was wonderful. We come often and it’s always the same consistent food, and service. We love the lasagna and get it every time it’s the best you could ever have anywhere .
Salvatore's always has high quality, locally sourced food! You feel special from start to finish.
We had a fabulous meal and the staff was very gracious and kind
Lasagna was UHHMAAZIIIING. I took my girlfriend (fiance now - YAYY me) to this spot and it was really good. I walked in and a girl was playing a live harp, and then I thought, "Wow this place is legit." I would definitely recommend this restaurant to others.
We love everything about this restaurant!
The food, the service, the ambiance
We like a lot this restaurant
As always - a terrific dining experience.
The service was great 👍 I will comeback!! Thanks josh,
Great meal. Lovely food presentation.
I celebrated my birthday and I had a very beautiful night with my family.
The place is beautiful, the service is excellent as well as the food.
Refined experience the moment you walk in. David is a great host, the wait staff very attentive , polished and professional, the ambience is classy without being pretentious, and there’s noticeable attention to detail everywhere (quality of table cloths, fresh flowers on every table, silverware, etc...). And then there’s the food... very fresh ingredients, exquisite combination of delicate flavors in a balanced act of love from the chef Raffaella Morelli. From a delicious grilled seafood appetizer, the exquisitely thin layers in the lasagna, to the perfectly cooked fillet, a true lover of fine food will leave this restaurant completely satisfied.
Service was awesome. Great music! Pianist was on point!!
Good service, good food. The decor is elegant and tasteful. All the staffs were very welcoming and friendly.
Excellent service, good food and cocktails. Bar staff was knowledgeable and friendly. Pianist playing music was great for ambiance. Would come here again.
I took my wife to Salvatore's Cucina Italiana for a romantic Valentine's Day dinner and it was everything that I could have expected. I actually found it on YELP and booked my reservation over a month in advance. We arrived and were immediately sat. The reason I chose this restaurant is because of the raving reviews about their Lamb. Ironically, the Valentine's Day menu did NOT include the lamb, so I had to choose something else. I went with the vegetable lasagna, which I learned is only served once a year and on Valentine's Day. It was delicious. There was live music (a Harpist) and the ambiance was perfect for a romantic dinner for two.
It was great! Sauce tasted different than usual though
The restaurant is a hidden gem in San Diego. I'm always looking for a good Italian restaurant. I think I found one here in downtown San Diego. My wife and I ate here for Valentines day and really enjoyed the food. We didn't get a chance to try the regular menu because they had a special menu for Valentines day. We will be back to try the regular menu but what we had was really good. The service was great. Our waiter was on top of everything.
Simply amazing! Food was fabulous and the ambiance was spot on for a romantic dinner.
The food was amazing! The ambiance was perfect and the restaurant is absolutely beautiful. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming.
Excellent cuisine and service. Very welcoming highly professional , no rush environment. The quality never fails having been there dozens of times over the years
great place for a quiet business dinner. and the good was very good quality
Excellent service from Alexa. The lasagna was authentic with fresh noodles; best we have had since a visit to Bologna. The ossobuco over saffron risotto was perfect, absolutely falling off the bone. Silverware was refreshed as necessary. Dinner was not rushed. No one was trying to whisk away the plates or asked "are you still working on that." Homemade crème brulee was creamy and not too sweet--perfect and topped with fresh fruit. Wine pours were larger than typical, making the wine by the glass worth the price. Parking in downtown San Diego is always problematic, but in this case the garage was in the same building and our ticket was taken care of by the restaurant (i.e., free parking).
Great food and service. This is a wonderful spot for a special occasion. We both had a starter and smaller portion of pasta and it was plenty of food.
Fabulous food, civil, easy to talk and a beautiful restaurant.
After my wife attended a seminar in downtown San Diego, we took advantage of being near Salvatore's and enjoyed a great Italian dinner. My wife ordered the spicy crab pasta (as she always does) and I had the restaurant's signature item of Lasagna. Both were very enjoyable and satisfying.
