Salute! Ristorante - Enoteca Ratings and Reviews
While the food is great, the entertainment on Fridays and Saturday nights is amazing. The two who perform there are fantastic and so much fun. Only reason service was marked down a bit was that it was a bit slow. Our waitress was fantastic, but I do not think they were staffed for the number of people there.
Great Location! Lovely outdoor seating with music. Indoor bar area seating, small library seating and large room with windows seating.I still will go back to this restaurant because I truly love it. Just not when they are hosting a large gathering (which they were on the patio, and probably not in-season). We sat in the large room on the opposite end of the entrance to the room which was wonderful except that it was extremely noisy in this room. There was no place for the large voices surrounding us on both sides to go except in our ears. The service was mediocre as it was so busy. Recommendation, when one of the guests orders the Bronzoni Fish, de-bone and serve them first and then bring out the hot dishes to the other guests, do not serve the plates to the rest of the table first. We all had to wait 5+ minutes for the servers to de-bone the Bronzoni fish and serve it to our guest. By that time, our food was not optimum and it is uncomfortable waiting.
This charming spot was a delight. The wait staff were excellent, friendly, and accommodating. The food was quite good, and certainly plentiful. My spinach salad was very tasty, as was the seafood risotto. The wine list seemed quite adequate. My only disappointment was the bread, which had no personality, and seemed almost an afterthought.
This restaurant is normally good but it was New Year Eve and they were overwhelmed with patrons and were not prepared. We always eat at Salute on NYE as we watch the Pineapple drop, but this year, downtown Sarasota had additional bands and other events and too many people waiting to get into the restaurant. Although the wait staff was doing their best, they probably needed additional help, and the food appeared to be prepared in advance as it was overcooked.
It was a family dinner for New Year's Eve. The location was great near downtown but a band was playing next to the restaurant so it was very nosy and hard to talk. Not their fault, of course. Because it was a busy night it took a very long time for the waiter to take our order (45 minutes). If that happened on another night, I would never go back, but I cannot infer from New Year's that this was normal service. The waiters were pleasant. The food was decent to very good.
I have eaten at Salute many times and have always been very satisfied. However, I made a reservation for 5 (including two elderly women 94 and 96). Upon arrival I was informed that our party could only be seated outside. It was uncomfortably cold that evening, and I was particularly worried about the well-being of the elderly women and their comfort. The restaurant moved a portable heating device very near our table which made our situation tolerable but occasionally it became uncomfortable whenever a breeze came on. The restaurant was particularly crowded and they were setting up tables last minute to accommodate the crowd. If told beforehand that we were to be seated outside, I would have made reservations somewhere else. To compound the issue, two of us ordered different veal dishes (myself included) and both commented separately that the veal was very tough. If this had been my first time at Salute, I likely would never return. However, having eaten there more than 15 times over the years and never been disappointed, I will give them another chance in the future. Customers need to know whether they will be seated inside or outside when making their reservations particularly when it is very cold or hot outside. Can't explain why the veal was tough as I've had this dish numerous times in the past.
One word: AMAZING! Somehow this is the first time we ate at Salute! and it won't be our last. Authentic Italian served exceptionally! We ate early (pre-ballet) and were offered any table in the restaurant. By the time we left, there were few tables left. Beautiful wine room seating, outdoor seating and dining room (we were in the dining room). Our server was exceptional - he gave us great recommendations and was able to help assist our picky eaters choose meals that made them super happy. The verdict: EAT AT SALUTE!
I always was a big fan of Salute. Haven't been there in a few months, and they must have changed chefs. I loved their eggplant parmesian. Whatever they did to this dish is criminal.
It has left me with such a bad taste, I'm not sure I will go back, and it's a shame. I loved that restaurant...... Maybe I'll try it once more, but if it's this bad again, they will have lost a very
loyal customer. Whoever the chef was last Saturday should be replaced.
Our group of 8 met before going to the theatre and had a fantastic dinner. The table seating was perfect, the wait staff was attentive while not overbearing, the food came out quickly to all at the table and everyone enjoyed their food. The Dover Sole is a favorite of mine, others had Grouper, Ravioli, Risotto of the Day and all the plates were clean at the end. We had plenty of time to get to the theatre. This is a great place right in downtown but away from the Main Street busy-ness. Outdoor seating area includes live music. Indoors is quieter. Service is impeccable. Definitely a go to place for us.
Food was great and we sat outside and had terrific live entertainment which was fun. Service was very friendly, but they seemed a bit short staffed. Would definitely go back. We shared the mussels and my 2 sons had pasta, one lobster ravioli and the other Agnolotti and I had the triple tail snapper special. It was all really excellent!!
This is just a very nice restaurant. The food is really tasty and well presented and the staff are friendly and welcoming. Their lasagna is especially delicious. More people should discover this lovely Italian restaurant right in the heart of Sarasota. There are four places to eat - outside, the covered outside patio, a
very nice bar and more formal dining inside. Try it - I think you will be pleasantly surprised.
This restaurant is one of our favorites over the past few years. However, it started to fall back a bit as our "go to place" with last year's music group (too loud, not conductive to the atmosphere) and a light bar that shined in our eyes. This season the music group is changed and more in keeping with this lovely patio style place. We still asked for a table away from the music which turned out to be enjoyable. Do try the Dover Sole, specialty of the house.
Nice meal. Fish very fresh and a chicken dish tasty. Wait staff accommodating and outside dining was fun however the Italian opera music clashed with the band next door. Nothing to do about that. One note to restaurant - I would rather pay $12 for an 8 oz pour that $9 for a 6 oz one. Be bold and pour a larger glass of wine than everyone else does...
