It was lovely sitting by the water. The restaurant building is old and charming. It is definitely not a sterile environment; it was comfortable and clean. My order was not great, but the other 3 members of my party were happy with their food selection. I give it a "good" rating from all of us.
Been there three or four times..... have always enjoyed the food and the atmosphere... but this time the food was very average, the service was very slow and spotty and the noise level was off the charts. We were a foursome and will not return. I can’t justify spending a $100 per couple to not enjoy our meal and not be able to talk or hear.
I truly hate to leave this review but it would be a disservice not to. I planned this event a few weeks in advance so I could be sure to get my reservation. This is my favorite neighborhood restaurant, I love it here. That being said, this was by far the most unattentive service I have received ever from Salutes. Mainly from the waiter who was assigned to our table. I wish I could recall his name, however since my Sister was the only one who paid with a credit card she had the receipt and tossed it. He wasn't rude but more dismissive with my family. As if we were more of a nuisance and not paying customers. And being that we were a party of 8, and the gratuity was automatically calculated into the bill, which he snidely pointed out upon presenting the bill. He definitely did not deserve that percentage. We were not even offered dessert.
It was a Reunion of Cousin's who had not seen each other in years. Food, as usual was tasty, but when asked if there was a kids menu, we only had one child with us, was told there was Pasta and Pizza, not realizing that he meant a full pizza, for a 3 year old.
I was hoping to show off my Richmond, and the class that I know Salutes to personifie, to my Cousin's from San Francisco. Your waiter let me down.
Saving grace...again, is that the majority of Salutes staff is so Awesome, although this is my second let down by a wait staff person, in as much as a week's time, it can not stop me from coming to my fav spot. I hope the review helps with coaching

Always lovely food and view for my birthday!
It was a beautiful afternoon and SF was beginning to glow in the distance. My guests and I ordered the first of three bottles of Italian Sangiovese wine and ordered oysters ( rather large, quite tasty), carpaccio ( generally good but too much mayonnaise) and calamari ( lightly breaded so the taste is preserved ). We shared the three appetizers and then ordered two pasta dishes: the fettuccine with clams had plenty of garlic and was very good. The linguini al vongole was also very good. The dessert cart brought a tiramisu and another dessert that were also very good.
A very nice touch was the visit of Mele, the owner, who is very photogenic. Daniel and Gunter took care of us and did a commendable job.
Overall very good.
Beautiful view, wonderful wait staff, and great food. There was a party in the middle room which caused the noise level to be a little high but other than that it was great.
We enjoyed a beautiful Easter dinner, very relaxing, excellent service. great table with a view. Weather beautiful. Thank you for a most enjoyable evening.
Lovely venue, lovely location, really good food. We had a reservation on a busy day and they seated us just on time. It's not cheap, but worth an occasional splurge.
This is one of our favorite restaurants in the Bay Area. the owner is friendly, warm and willing to go the extra mile to assure a great dining experience!
The service and the atmosphere was great. Something I would suggest is for faster service. I had to wait for a few minutes to get asked if I wanted a dessert. It was good overall the food but I would also like to have my candle lit like the other tables.
Great food, great service and the view ain't to shabby either. I love this place. Definitely a hidden jewel.
We had a wonderful evening at Salute--but we always do! The location is beautiful, the food and service are excellent, and Menbe is simply the best person in the world.
Even on a rainy cold day, the service was excellent and never felt rushed, which is much appreciated. Have been here several times now and have always enjoyed it with old friends and new.
It was a birthday lunch with some long time friends. We had had a great day at the Rosie the Riveter Museum, a walk thru Annie’s Annual Nursery and was ending our day at Salute e Vita. The ambiance was beautiful as it was a mixed bag of sun, clouds and random showers so the views were spectacular. That was the highlight really. The salad a minestrone was fair to middlen at best, nothing memorable. We were not super hungry so we decided to share a margarite pizza. I had one slice as it was not tasty at all. It wasn’t bad, just very boring and too cheesy. The service was off also as we had to wait to get the server’s attention. Also she spilled our coffee onto the saucer twice and spilled two of the three soups. She only acknowledged one spill out of four. Anyway it was an odd experience and I was disappointed as I was looking very forward to visiting the restaurant and had it on my list for over a year after seeing it on KQEDs Check Please. It was a birthday fun day in Richmond but Salute e Vita was okay at best.
We had a great meal and superb service. The view of the harbor was great with nice views of the city. The fresh cut flowers were lovely and the restaurant was nicely decorated.
Great food, good view, good service. Will go there's again soon!
The food was delicious. The service was kind. The ambience was warm and classy. This restaurant was everything that my friends described. I’m glad to have finally had the chance to dine here. We will dine here again.
It's the small things that keep me from giving Salute E Vita 5 stars.
We really like this restaurant and have dined there numerous times. It is always very, very good - but there is always "something". Yesterday we met friends for lunch at Salute. Our friends ordered the risotto with smoked chicken special and the ahi salad special, and seemed to enjoy both. My husband ordered his usual lasagne. I ordered the poached eggs, spinach, English muffins and fruit special. All of the dishes arrived from the kitchen together. The risotto was steaming hot as was the lasagne. My egg dish was barely luke-warm. My guess is that it was plated before the risotto was quite finished, and just sat there. I didn't complain at the time (it isn't my style), but it definitely took the "deliciousness" of the dish down several notches.
Also, we had to ask for bread after our lunches were served. This hasn't previously happened.
Also, just beyond the row of booths is a door to a "special events" room. When the door was open, there was a nasty draft at our table, and quite a bit of extra noise. And the door opened and stayed stuck open constantly, either by people going in and out, or just by itself. I got up many times to close the door! Salute, please adjust the door. And future diners, try to be seated as far as possible from the party room.
As usual food was great and service was awesome. It was little busy and took more than few mins for the waitress to acknowledge us but no big deal. Food was fairly fast to come out. Drinks were really good. Ginger martini hit the spot!!
Our meal was delicious and service was attentive. The only drawback was a cold draught of air from the front door.
The waitstaff was very friendly and attentive. The food arrived in a timely manner and was delicious.
Very good food, wonderful waterfront view, very comfortable and pleasing decor, great parking, good bar and lounge area.
Great place for a great meal, friendly service and an awesome waterfront view of San Francisco. Where everyone is family !!!!
Very nice. Beautiful view.
Incredible atmosphere, food and service. A hidden gem we will definitely be returning multiple times
Service was fantastic. Food was good. Great atmosphere. Friendly and fun.
One of the best places I have been in a decade! #Loveit
Lovely setting and beautifully furnished restaurant. Service is excellent.
A neighborhood treasure. Great food, service and ambience.
Menbe, the owner, is a treasure as well. She is a humanitarian serving white table cloth Thanksgiving dinners to the homeless every year on Thanksgiving.
Outstanding experience from service to food to view ❣️❣️
The ambiance, food and service are all great. The owner gives so much back to the community and those in need, which is another good reason to support this restaurant.
This as our first meal at the restaurant, and we were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food, service and atmosphere. We had short ribs and our friend had risotto with lamb chops. all the food was excellent.
We will come back!
Have been here several times and always enjoy it. A destination for special occasion dinners or brunches. Never disappointed.
salute E Vita Ristorante is an elegant, scenic restaurant. The food is delicious. The service is outstanding. Highly recommended for fine dining in a cozy environment.
This place is great. The service and food are top-notch. The view of the marina is so lovely. It is not noisy so you can talk, but it is at the same time lively. Great place.
Good food+good prices= a good time had by all. There was bread and there was water and some other things so I have to keep typing til I am past the 50 character mark.
Took my wife out for Valentines day. First time here, but will definitely come back. Great ambience, great service , great views and great food!
It was okay, but not outstanding. We were there on Valentine's, an extremely busy night for this restaurant. The staff worked very hard and we were waited on promptly; our food came faster than expected. We did feel rushed, so it was not as relaxed an occasion as it could have been.
The food itself was adequate, but nothing special. Ravioli was tasteless, lamb chops were quite chewy. Maybe the kitchen staff was not up to such a busy night.
