I typically don’t provide feedback unless it’s positive. However, the service at this location was so dismal, I feel it needs to be addressed. There were a host of issues, including waiting 30 minutes for water and another 40 minutes for a cocktail (it did take a while to figure out what we wanted to drink- they say they are a “wine establishment, but they were out of their two “main” wines. And the wine list was pretty small.) It wasn’t very busy and yet, my table waited over an hour for appetizers. When the entrées finally did appear, they came out at three different times. There was about 15 minute wait between the first entrée arriving and the last arriving. It meant that most of us ate cold dinners. The food was just fine. I realize this may have just been a fluke night. But based on the horrible service, we won’t be returning.
Love the patio. The service was fantastic. Food was very tasty. Originally they had placed our reservation for 7 on a high top. Due to a back issue, I asked for a low table. It wasn't a busy evening so there were tables to accomodate us and they quickly moved us. Very happy!
Nice atmosphere on the patio and outstanding service by Angel. The food was creative and healthy options were available. I had the grilled cheese with truffle fries and it was very good. I was happy to be able to get a reservation for six people on a Saturday night and everybody enjoyed it and the fact that we could have a conversation without shouting.
Our waiter Dillin was amazing!!
Food exceeded all expectations, staff was attentive and enthusiastic without being annoying. Atmosphere was relaxed. Table top s'mores were fun and delicious!
I would give it another chance. Okay, what does that mean? We had a new server; he wasn't very good. Tried hard. A for effort but he was still learning. It was a Saturday evening, happy hour, time; probably wasn't the wisest decision to leave him on his own as the place got busy. The food was tasty for what it was. Said it was "Mediterranean," only sort of...having a couple of menu items and hummus on the menu does not really make it so. It was more of a gastro-bar (?) bar food and a few entrees, with good cocktails, beer and wine at reasonable prices, with special pricing during happy hour.
We went there for a quick lunch in the middle of the afternoon. The server was super fun and friendly, food more than honest but I guess ambiance would have been better at happy hour or in the evening.
Party of 8 and everyone enjoyed their food. Service was lacking though.
Drinks were delivered to all except one. After 15 minutes had to ask for the remaining drink. Ordered appetizer and dinner salad - was not delivered until meal so appetizer was returned. Server indicated she thought we wanted them with the meal - this option was not expressed by us and server didn't ask when we ordered to make this the case. Food enjoyable just service issues.
Enjoyable atmosphere. Inside seating was pretty but a bit tight. Outside patio accommodated parties of different sizes and was comfortable with heaters for cooler nights and shade for hotter temperatures. Even though very close to ASU campus it felt more of a wine bar then a college hangout. Food was good and service friendly. Generous happy hour every day until 6:30pm. Would recommend to friends and will be back.
Great place to eat before a show would recommendd
Great Happy Hour and Will is best bartender there! Everything he suggested tasted AWSOME! Also 1/2 price wines on HH & certain days of the wk!
Can’t wait to go back!
My boyfriend and I came here for New Year's Eve and Valentine's Day and each experience was wonderful. I love Salut for the ambiance, friendly service, and inventive food. The lavender lemon fizz and hummus nachos are to die for. It is nice to know that I can always count on this place for an enjoyable, quiet evening even on busy holidays!
I took my girlfriend here for Valentines day. Overall I had a great time, I reserved my seats 4 hours in advance and had no trouble with being seated. The service was okay, we were ignored by staff for 20 minutes and had to ask to be waited on. My only complaint. The food was great and the bartender was cool and drinks were amazing.
1st time there and we enjoyed our self. Food was great, love scratch kitchens, great menu and service was good. Overall good experience and definitely going back.
I absolutely love this restaurant, the staff is awesome, the food is to die for, the atmosphere is cozy and friendly!
The environment was good for a casual get together. The food was good and priced reasonably. We only ordered appetizers though and it took longer than ordering a bunch of entrees. I don't know why that was but that would be the worst part of the decent meal.
Slow service but the food was amazing
Very good food at a fair price.
My Review is going out to the Open Table communications and Salut reservations administration. We booked a table at 3pm online the evening prior but when we arrived, we were advised that they closed at 2pm and someone said they had called to advise, but I never received a phone call or email notifying us of the closure. I did confirm it was the correct phone number with the gentleman. Fortunately, Cafe Boa WAS open and we gladly went to dine there for my friend's birthday prior to a theater production.
Needless to say, the review above does NOT reflect a dining experience, but a reservations and operating hours issue.
After having to choose between an indoor or outdoor seating when we made the reservation (we choose outdoor), there was some confusion about granting us an outdoor seat when we arrived. It took about 10 minutes to resolve this problem. We also tried two different wines from the wine list, and both were disappointing.
Will definitely give it another chance. My eggs benedict was cold and the eggs were soft boiled, not poached. Others in our party had cold food as well. There was an 80 person brunch on the patio which I'm sure messed up the kitchen's service. Our server was awesome.
Food was great. The only thing that could improve is the time it took to actually get the food. But I guess waiting for great food is not that big of a deal.
Overall: Poor quality of food. Wouldn’t return even if prices were lower.
Appetizers: Truffle Fries... served luke warm
Beer: cool I guess - not cold
Macaroni And Cheese Balls... ok
Sun Devil Burger... small, bland on a dry large bun.
Strawberry Salad- excellent
Pistachio salmon- smelled fishy, tasted fine, looked like my kid tried to make fancy with “drizzle” all over plate
The lemon orzo was inedible due to flavor. Nobody liked it at the table....
Service was good.
The mushroom bruschetta is incredible. Cool atmosphere, nice outdoor dining.
Food was delicious, great service and great spot for dinner prior to luminaries or zoo lights. Thank you!
Staff was great, owner came by to visit, wine list could use some continental flavor but still very good...tapas were wonderful.
The most striking thing is that the staff seemed to love the place as well.
Server was not very knowledgeable about the food. Had to keep pushing him to ask the chef questions because of food allergies. Food tasted good, but the wait was too long for the amount of people at the restaurant, aka not very many.
One of my favorite Arizona restaurants!!! Always great service and tasty food!!
Meh. Food was just okay for the price point. I was underwhelmed. Hummus Nachos are overpriced for literally hummus on 4 pita chips with balsamic. Nice novelty and tasty but even at happy hour pricing they are steep. Salmon entree was fine but again overpriced. The vibe here was cool and it would be a good place for drinks but they are falling short on the food. The highlight of the evening was the Citrus Mistress IPA. I'd never had it and it was fantastic.
I will go back to chill on that patio and enjoy a drink, but I won't be considering food.
Very vegan/vegetarian friendly, the wait staff was very accommodating and the food was served fresh and fast. Good place for a casual first date, and quiet enough that we were able to have good conversation.
Not sure what happened but my complex salad showed up as a bowl of kale with some shredded salmon. Somehow the chef left out the corn, asparagus, dried tomatoes and other fixings! I initially thought they brought me the wrong dish...really an odd experience.
The overall experience at this restaurant was positive, except for one aspect. The drinking water I received tasted/smelled like mildew. I asked for a new glass and the server told me that, yes, their tap water was bad, but that if I wanted water, they did have bottles available for $3! (Oh, but they're the BIG bottles, she assured me.) I found this appalling - they know the water is bad, but don't have any other solution except to make the customer pay for bottled water? This isn't a fancy establishment where several selections of mineral water are offered. It's a basic establishment where complimentary tap water is expected. Surely, there's a better way to resolve this issue.
Maybe I've watched too many episodes of Chopped, but when the Mac & Cheese Bites appetizer showed up (4 balls, not 5 as on the website) and were woefully underseasoned - no salt at all on the fried crust, no flavor at all in the interior - I should have found somewhere else for dinner. But we went for Restaurant Week and stuck it out.
My $44 prix fixe selections, hummus nachos, seafood pasta, and absinthe gelato, were by turn decent, wretched, and puzzling. The "nachos," two (not the website's 5) fried pita triangles each with a scoop of hummus, had the most flavor of the night. The seafood pasta, advertised as "Fettuccine pasta tossed in a lemon and white wine sauce, loaded with mussels, crab, shrimp and squid, topped with grated Parmesan cheese, served with garlic toast," was awful. The "sauce" was sticky, with no hint of lemon or white wine - though slightly more flavor than the mac & cheese. Also missing were any recognizable mussels, crab, or squid; I found one tiny bay shrimp. In their place was plenty of "krab: a processed seafood made of starch and finely pulverized white fish, shaped and cured to resemble the leg meat of snow crab," and as off-puttingly mushy and tasteless as it sounds. There were some slivers of white, maybe "skwid." I left the krab uneaten, along with most of the dish. The server said the chef asked why; I said "mushy." (The Noble Bread it came with was fine.)
My bad for ordering a dish not on the regular menu? My bad for not immediately sending it back? Maybe, but one expects a certain standard of restaurant week meals and I wanted the full experience. (My wife's Pistachio Salmon looked better; she said it was fine.)
Which brings us to the house-made "absinthe gelato." We got two mini-Mason jars with what could only be called deep-red strawberry granita, smothered in whipped cream. WTF?
For the same price we could have gone to Christopher's or Vincent's. I'd heard raves about Salut on Check Please!, now I know better.
Good the only comment is that I would like to see more wine options
Staff was wonderful. Food was great. I had taco appetizers and they were excellent as were truffle fries. The
The food was very good. The cookie desert was delicious. We really liked the Sunday half off wine special. It is a good fit for a 20-30 year old crowd. The prices are a bit high and the waiter was good except for the tendency to upsell everything.
Salut Kitchen was recommended by my daughter. At first glance, it looked like a college bar - a bunch of young guys sitting at the bar, tattooed wait staff, fairly rustic interior - but when the food came it was like being in a 5 star restaurant. Portions were reasonable sizes, everything we had was good (I recommend the pistachio crusted salmon), and to top it off we caught them on a 50% off wine day. Prices are a little on the steep side but well worth it.
Awesome!! Went for my daughters 21st...great food at a terrific price! Creative dishes and attentive wait staff...very professional and polite with a twist of hmmmm...good stuff 😊
I had a good time being with friends but a little disappointed when checking out. We had a group of 9 + two babies. Didn't realize that we were automatically charged 18% gratuity (wasn't told this when making the reservation or when we checked-out) so many of us left an additional tip (18 - 20%). It was noted on our itemized receipt & bottom of the receipt we signed (will teach me to review my receipt thoroughly before signing and I should have realized with a larger party they would auto. add in gratuity). I think $32.00 is a little much for a hamburger, FF & cranberry juice; don't think we'll go back. Server was good and did give good service.
