Salumeria Rosi Ratings and Reviews
Salumeria Rosi is a small restaurant -- only one compact room -- and the tables are fairly close together. The atmosphere, however, is pleasant, the food is excellent, and you get fair value for your money. We had a good bottle of wine, tasty small plates of lamb chops and halibut, and a fresh, delicious salad and a yummy plate of broccoli rabe well prepared with garlic and oil. Our waiter was very attentive and the overall experience was great. We will be back!
Excellent food spoiled by ambience and poor service. We arrived a few minutes before the time of our reservation. There were several empty tables but we were instructed to wait by the hostess. We finally were seated only because we kept pointing out that the tables were empty and she grudgingly agreed after reacting as if we had just arrived.
The service after that was hit and miss. We ordered two glasses of wine and got the bottle instead. One entree came out 10 minutes after the other with no explanation. One of our water glasses was constantly re-filled while the other was left empty. Other tables received gratis servings of breadsticks and olives while we did not. We were not asked if we wanted to order dessert. There were many regulars being seated promptly who clearly were the focus of the waitstaff's attention and concern.
The tables are so close together that it is easier to listen in on your neighbor's conversation than to have one of your own.
The food is authentic and truly delicious and is reasonably priced, but the overall experience was very poor and not at all conducive to a repeat.
Fantastic food! Wish I were hungrier! Came to NYC to see a concert and stopped here for a pre-show dinner. I wasn't that hungry, and boy do I regret eating earlier! The food was simply yummy! Crowded together tables and rushed (but nice) service NYC style, but the food is worth rubbing elbows with your neighbors! Can't wait to go back!!
My husband and I dined here before a theater event. Food was very good--we just had salads followed by pasta. The pasta comes in small or large servings; my small serving of ricotta and goat cheese gnocchi was plenty for me with a salad! My husband had a large order of rigatoni with amatriciano sauce that was delicious. We split a scoop of pear sorbet and vanilla gelato for dessert. I had a very good glass of Montepulciano red and my husband had a Negroni which he enjoyed . We will be back to sample the cheese plate and the salumi platter--pastas were reasonably priced for the city.
Found Salumeria Rosi through the Open Table app while looking for places close to the Beacon Theatre as we had tickets to a show and didn’t want to eat to far away. As we walked up we saw a great selection of cured meats and cheeses in the window and knew we were in the right spot. We checked in with the hostess only to find out that our table wasn’t ready and they weren’t sure when it would be. After standing for a couple of minutes then manager offered to buy us a drink and got us a small plate of pecorino Romano cheese and prosciutto with some tasty bread while we waited. We sat after about 20 mins and let our waiter know we had a show to get to and he got our order placed right away, even checked on whether one of our selected dishes was available (it wasn’t) but that was ok. The selections of meats and cheeses were delicious and the Gnocchi was one of the tastiest I’ve had in quite sometime. Thanks for making our dinner a special one.
We chose Salumeria Rosi because of good ratings, a unique looking menu, and proximity to the Beacon Theater. We were not disappointed! Because of the small portion dishes the 4 of us had lots of options for a variety of food. The Selezione Del Salumiere was a surprise combination of Italian meats. Other items we tried included sauteed brussels sprouts, lasgna, a specialty cheese plate, Costine (spicy ribs), bruschetta, and more. All very good! There was no rush to leave. And the plates came to us at a nice pace, not all at once. We will definitely return when in town for another show at the Beacon!
Saw this on Bourdain and it looked fabulous. Couldn't wait to try for lunch with friends when we came to NYC because he's given us some fabulous tips over the years.
It's a great looking room.
Sadly disappointed with very slack service and a laissez faire attitude generally. Casual is one thing but this was on another level.
We didn't have any salumi but just ordered 3 pasta dishes and one Salsicce dish that was on the menu as an appetizer. It arrived before the pastas and our friend was left waiting for our pastas to arrive 10 mins later. The excuse was that it was an appetizer....... No thought by the server.
The pastas were average. The lasagna was very dark in color and intense in flavor. Hard to enjoy.
Our friends "appetizer" was a little dry and needed more fat.
We were catching up with distant friends so we all pretended everything was fine and made up for average food and service with some excellent beverages and great conversation.
Booked table for late night dinner 22:45. We felt rushed and service was extreemely poor.
When complaint to the manager, vague apologies were offered. But then when we were leaving one of the waitresses wished us good night and then: “let it be your last night”

We had been once before and it's possible that my memory of that meal kept getting better and better and better as I recalled it, but I was disappointed. Not a bad meal, but not at all what I was looking forward to.
We had the meat and cheese samplers and the portion size was small (no, very small) and the quality was good but that's as far as I'll go.
Service was spotty...knowledgeable and responsive waiter who couldn't be found on a couple of occasions (like when I realized we were late and I had to pay the bill)
The ambiance was wonderful and the food and wine too. Really, really delicious. A true neighborhood gem.
But it was very uncomfortable to have the restaurant's staff start to shut down the restaurant while my 4-person party was still eating! By the time we were paying, they were pilling chairs and cleaning the bathroom. Very unclassy attitude for such a classy restaurant.
The quality service, food and atmosphere made for a great experience. The entire experience was due to the fabulous staff. They were all very knowledgeable of the menu items and specials. They were extremely friendly from the moment we walked in the door and we're ready to make our dining outing as best as possible. They worked well together and never missed a beat. Their service and the quality food were outstanding!!!
