The food and atmosphere made my first date amazing.
Fate met us at this restaurant, definitely coming again
As close as you can come to a real Italian (i.e. in Italy) restaurant on the Upper West Side. Very well prepared, high quality food. The portions are the size of what you might expect in Italy, not the ridiculously large portions common in restaurants in the US. Unfortunately, the Italian sized portions don't come with Italian level prices.
We have eaten here several times. Authentic Italian. Consistently superb. Friendly and efficient staff. Always a fish option and mussels along with veggie-based choices.
Salumeria Rosi continues to be our favorite restaurant in New York City. The delicious food, the incredible ambience, the romantic vibe and service so good that you leave there feeling like royalty. We love ordering the small plates so that we can share lots of different specialties. The best!
Great dishes and wine list
Salumeria Rosi is a ‘NO HOSPITALITY’ Restaurant. I had been dining at Rosi many times since its opening when I had lived in Upper West Side. On 1/10, I had extremely bad experience at Rosi, when I dined with my friend. In less than 2 hours after being seated, the manager strongly asked us to move to the bar for our wine (we ordered a bottle of red wine), as we almost finished our food. Very rude request for their guests who had arrived 45 minutes earlier than their reservation time. Be prepared when you are faced with such an awkward situation. Otherwise, you would have a very bad feeling after enjoying food and drinks. I would not recommend ‘NO HOSPITALITY’ Rosi anymore.
We love going before shoes at the Beacon.
I found the pastas and risotto to be good but slightly overcooked this time which is unusual. They have to pay attention to the details as this is what makes them specia in the first place
We always have a great time here. We went for brunch and everyone’s food was great (I did the bruschetta special), as well as the burrata we all split. Great drinks and really great service.
We were in the city with our kids for the holidays. A friend suggested we try this restaurant. It’s a little hole in the wall and is absolutely delicious! The gnocchi were off the charts, super soft. The breakfast and arugula salad delicious! We loved everything!
Ci siamo cascati. Stare alla larga.
When you enter you see a deli/butcher counter and a kitchen surrounded be tables. The food was great. Appetizers of roasted peppers with anchovy and prosciutto delightful. Main of red snapper and skirt steak superb. Due to the early New Years Eve performance at the Met we didn't stay for desert. But next time, we will be sure to stay until the end.
Everything, as ever, was superb! Can’t wait to go back!!!!! Happy New Year!!!! We love you guys!!!! 😘
We love coming here prior to going to a show at the Beacon Theater! Delicious food, friendly staff, good ambience.
Lovely place. I had a nice dinner. Will return.
The hospitality, food, wine, ambience - everything was superb!!!!! We love you!!!! 😘❤️
Nicole is the best
Place is a little tight but what a wonderful dining experience!
Service timing and food knowledge was perfect. Thank you for a great evening.
The food was delicious
Service attentive but not intrusive
Tight seating but it didn’t at all affect the positive experience- oddly enough we still felt like we had our own private table!
Excellent cured meat and cheese selection. Good pasta menu and nice salads. Service was off. They had one guy working the entire dining room w one other person helping. They brought out three dishes and our fourth diner had to wait ten to fifteen minutes to get his food. When I asked the waiter why a simple dish of arugula and bresaola wouldn’t be ready with the pastas he said the cud’s were working on “catering” orders. Total BS.
If you’ve got limited time don’t bother with this place. Everything takes forever.
No one does it better than salumeria. Great pasta meat and fish. And amazing service. Love it
Very small space so even with a reservation you may wait awhile for your table in very tight space. However once seated the service and food are outstanding! Wonderful selection of Italian hams and cheese - we followed the suggestions from our waiter- and had lots of shared plates. The only disappointment was the Gelato - ok but nothing special.
Very cool, small deli/restaurant. Food was delicious and really enjoyed the evening.
Thoroughly enjoyed both meat and cheese selection. Wine pairing perfect. My date ordered the gnocchi and said it was fantastic!
We made a reservation several hours in advance. Arrived on time, but had to wait 15 minutes for our table to be ready. It would have been nice if host had offered us a drink, but wait was ok anyway. Appetizers were excellent, table service was attentive but not intrusive, and entrees were superb. Restaurant is small and seating is close to adjacent tables, but we were not bothered by lack of privacy or intimacy. Saw a well-known actor at a nearby table, too.
Consistently excellent food. Service is friendly, professional and efficient. My lunch guest who is in the food and wine industry had heard about Salumeria Rossi but never visited is very much looking forward to returning. She tasted my green pappardelle with sun dried tomato sauce and mascarpone saying that is what she’s having next visit. Done deal.
This is a restaurant, like many others, that does some things well and other things not so well. Go there for the salumeria, as the name of the restaurant implies: the cured meats of Italy. They are delicious, indeed at a level above most of what can be found in New York. What they cook, however, is not so special. The pastas, for instance are heavy and salty. The lasagne was a weird form of meat cake. The salad somewhat better but still unremarkable. Best of all may be to do, what we often do, which is buy some prosciutto or coppa or parmacotto at the counter and take it home.
The wine oriented authentic Italian food offerings cannot be beat, so not surprisingly The tables and bar are always filled with people. Staff always very friendly, knowledgeable and always go out of their way to make me feel like a special guest!
Amazing had not been in a couple years does not disappoint ever
The food is always special, fresh, authentic
We loved the coziness of this place. Small, intimate, great food and great service. Ideal for a meal before a show at the Beacon. We don't like anything heavy before a show so munched on antipasto - delicious assortment of italian meats and cheeses and all pairs well with their house wine. Of course we had to try a pasta and it did not disappoint.
I was very disappointed by the minestrone. It had little taste, lots of potatoes, no pasta and outside of perhaps previously frozen or canned green beans, and a small amount of carrots no other vegetables. I truly hesitate to say this but he minestrone at the Delta Sky club today had much more flavor!
Wish it was open later! Would be perfect for a late night meal after the theatre!
Overall everything was great. What was not appreciated is that the hostess told us upon seating us that we would need to leave our table within an hour and 15 minutes of arriving because they would need the table for another party. 1:15 minutes after us spending $140 on the meal? We ended up leaving slightly after 1:15 minutes without incident (the waiter made no mention of our time limit) but this is totally unacceptable for a UWS neighborhood restaurant. The experience was not conducive to a relaxed evening out with my husband.
We came into a small crowded restaurant in which people were sitting on top of each other. We were told that we had to leave by 8:15 PM. We were given a table for six with two strangers sitting with us. The noise level was soo high we couldn't hear what we were saying to each other. We never saw anything like this. We will not be going back.
Been to 30 countries including Italy and the food was as good as I've ever had. Appreciated the shareable size portions which allowed me to try 3 things. Service was above and beyond...even hailed a cab for us.
Perfection in every fascist.
This place is so great!! We've lived in the neighborhood for 11 years and for some reason haven't made it in, but now it's in the rotation. Everything was great, but in particular the gnocchi, the strozzapreti and the manzo.
