Salty Sow - Cactus Ratings and Reviews
The service was really poor at every point of contact and hard to say which was the worst as they all competed for that distinction: hosts, bartender, then the server. Way too numerous issues to list nor do I care to itemize them on this site. Food was mediocre and very overseasoned even for a place with salty in the name. It doesn't appear as if one person who works there actually enjoys being there.
The Salty Sow quickly became one of our top choices for delicious food and drinks, with fantastic servers and staff. We look for excuses to go for a meal, and there was no hesitation to pick it as the place to celebrate our 32nd wedding anniversary. They did not disappoint. Just great in every way.
We have enjoyed dinner at the Salty Sow in Austin and wanted to try the one here in Phoenix. It was every bit as good in terms of food quality and service. We enjoyed the visit, will return, and have already referred friends to dine there. It was a nice relaxing evening with friends, great food, really a perfect level of service (Defined as prompt and timely without being visited constantly) by a friendly and knowledgeable member of the staff. The shared dishes are awesome, the main courses were also very good. We didnt get to try the Prime Rib so go early if you want to try it!
We feel that it would have been a better experience if the service level was better. The server forgot our appitizer, didn't check back after we got our food which was cold and we needed condiments. We also saw the manager who cleared our table but never said a word. Overall for a place that should have impeccable service let us down.
We had previously had a great lunch with great service so tried their dinner menu. Martini done well and the bacon/cream cheese olives is novel and yummy. The service was ok but not as attentive as we experienced at lunch. Highly recommend the Brussels sprout appetizer. Many places have these but SS version is superb. Also the fries with 110 min egg is phenomenal. Raves from my daughter for the ribeye tacos, but the beans were rated average (and she is a bean lover). You must try the pork belly w/ cheese grits and arugula salad. The salad is a great bite to cut the richness of the pork. This is truly the BEST pork dish I have experienced. So-so on the cheese grits, as they could have used more cheese. Prices are very value based. This is becoming a fav. Highly recommend.
I've been disappointed 2 x's now. Happy the restaurant did a 2 for one at lunch. The french dip was mediocre..the dipping juice wasn't hot or warm..the duck fries weren't hot and were too hard to eat. I requested they redo for me and they did. The restaurant needed more servers as they were busy..also the A/C was blowing very cold nearby which made us want to hurry and finish to get out of there! Problem was we had to sit and wait quite awhile before we got the bill.
I won't be going back.
The service was the worst. My burger and fries were cold and the burger in pieces and well done. The server had confirmed pink was on the menu. It took almost 1/2 hour for food to arrive - Manager took it back and returned in about 12 minutes. Had a coupon for pay one/get one. The manager removed my burger from the bill ????? It was already free 2 for 1. When I asked about that, they did comp the entire meal.
I will usually give a restaurant a second chance... NOT in this case.
This is a really hip place, but my husband said that the food wasn't up to the level of the decor and the service. We were there for the Sunday brunch buffet, and I thought the food was good enough for a buffet, as did my daughter, especially the hot-smoked salmon and the porchetta. They had a nice selection of beers and my mojito was very good.
Our first visit to the Salty Sow this past Sunday (10/22/17).
Amazing from start to finish! My husband and I are first time diners for the Sunday Brunch. Quality of food and creative dishes -- absolutely superb!! The chef puts true passion and culinary expertise into what he serves to his customers. Waitstaff service (Jessica) - extraordinary! ! This is one of the best Sunday brunch spots we've ever enjoyed in the valley. We will visit again soon and and recommend Salty Sow's Sunday Brunch to everyone we know.
And...a great Bloody Mary bar! (just be sure not to add too much ghost pepper hot sauce to your morning cocktail :;)
It's a busy place for a good reason - so glad we made reservations! Food is outstanding - done with attention to detail in taste and presentation. The waiters are friendly and attentive. We enjoyed our appetizer meal - it was plenty and pleasing!
My only regret is not eating here more than once during our 3 day stay in the area.
We love patio dining and trying new places. We had a fabulous dinner! Great food!!! I had the pork belly , my husband had the pork shoulder, and our friends had the prime rib and tacos. Everything was plate licking good!! The chocolate cake was fantastic! We would drive there again. Really good food with the feel of an Austin restaurant. We like the string of lights on the patio.
We dine at Salty Sow quite often. My husband had the trout- presented beautifully and he loved it. My grandson had a cheeseburger- just ok@ kind of dry. I had the halibut with broccolini- although very well prepared and tasty the portion of both the fish and veggie very small- actually looked lost on the plate- for $35 is was a disappointment.
